Tesco emailed me saying no Tshirt but I get a fiver back and the headset, £35 in total and they said it's guaranteed to be here next week, maybe not on time though :(

Yep, my expected delivery date is the 13th so I probably wont be playing until the week after :(

That's poor. The only reason to pre order anything is to get it by release day.

Just checked my order status. Says ready to dispatch, expected delivery date Saturday 13th Sep. Also, the order no longer says free headset. Won't be ordering from them again for the sake of saving a fiver.

Happy to help. Someone should write a Rllmuk "Online gaming set up tips" document and get it stickied. Even if all it said was "don't use wifi", it would be useful.

As for homeplugs, I think these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-AV200-200Mbps-Powerline-Adapter/dp/B00620CZ64/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409844051&sr=8-2&keywords=homeplug at £12.99 are a bargain.

What are these home plug things exactly? I can't quite wrap my head around what it does.

They allow ethernet signals to pass along the electrical wiring of your home.

Depending on the quality of your wiring and the speed of the interface in the home plug you can get extremely fast, stable networking around your home without having to run cables everywhere.

The first time I used them it was like technological voodoo. Amazing.

Wifi is fine if no one else is using it at the same time. Both my PS3 and PS4 have always been wireless.

Bit harsh on WiFi! I use WiFi and have no problems. Even use WiFi on my Plex server. Having a decent router helps.

Yes it would be better cabled but it's not like it used to be. In years gone by I went through great lengths to run cable all over the house. Don't see the need these days.

You will always always always get a more stable connection wired. If you play online a lot, homeplugs are a no brainer rather than relying on wifi. If you do a lot of downloading, you'll most likely get better speeds too. You don't need to worry about cabling.

I have a smart tv in the back room upstairs but no internet connection to it.

So you're saying I plug one of these things in, connect the ethernet to the tv and the internet just works? Sounds too good lol

Where have you guys been for the last few years lol? Yes, they're pretty much plug and play. One in a socket next to a router, the other in a socket where you want the internet to go and you're good to go. A pair of homeplugs usually comes with a pair of (short) ethernet cables too so you don't normally need to buy them separately either.

There's nothing wrong with the stability of my wifi.

The only trouble I have with then is for some reason usenet/sabnzb just doesn't work with mine when wifi does (v. Weird) and the plugs are bulky. My (admittedly old) Devolo's are massive which makes tucking then behind cabinets a nightmare.

I was also advised not to user then in plug extensions.

Jesus, that is fucking TERRIBLE. It's like some middle-aged nerds' ideas of what might appeal to gamebros. Everything in there is a cliche; I'm surprised they didn't have a bit with the sound effect of a needle being torn off a record, just so they could have a cliche full house.

I'm guessing that was made by Activision rather than Bungie, it reminds me of those weird Modern Warfare adverts, where Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill have a right old laugh committing murder with guns on a colossal scale.
