900p I hear, so there is a drop off compared to the PS4 beta visually.

Chat quality is also miles ahead as you'd expect. Itching to get a bash on it tonight, going for a Warlock class this time.

That's been upped to 1080p but won't be included in the Beta.

4 more hours till I can head home and get an hour with the Bone Beta, then dash off to be on stage and pray I don't accidentally say "That wizard came from the moon!" during the big emotional climax in Act 2.

For those who were playing on PS3 and are now testing it out on Xbox One - did your characters carry over? Or did you have to start again?

The latest PS4 patch seems to have fixed the frame pacing issue, so it feels a lot more consistent now.

I think handcannons and pulse rifles are both pretty worthless at the moment. The former seems to basically be a shorter range scout rifle with a shallower clip, whilst the burst fire of the latter has more kick than an assault rifle but similar damage per bullet.

Good couple of hours on this tonight. Still not made my mind up about it. Just done the 'opening the array' mission, and that final stretch nearly did me in - especially with no re-spawn allowed. Did get through it in the end, though it was relentless at times - the wizard followed by a couple of knights of some kind.

It's funny because there were times when the wizard was downed quickly, but other time he fought and fought. I was on my "one last go" with it.

Previous to that, I was set in an open section of Old Russia, fighting alongside an unknown. That was good, but I think I got in the way more than anything! :D He seemed to just be there waiting to kill whatever appeared. After 15 minutes I moved on.

So yes, looks lovely, really solid weapons (though they quickly felt under powered) but I'm curious about long term - especially with this crap timezone restricting much multiplayer opportunity.

Is there a way to take down those captains quickly? A couple of times a well timed grenade has worked well but other times it's been a slog and half. What are the energy bars? Is white the amount of armour he has, and red his energy?

Red is health, doesn't regenerate. White is shield, will regenerate if he isn't hit for a few seconds. It's the classic halo system.

Handcannons do absurd damage in headshots, so they'll wind up being a good close-range weapon for people with the reflexes of a fourteen-year-old.

I hope they'll release all the expansions on PS3 if characters don't transfer across systems...

PS3 is getting all the expansions, and you can play characters created in the PS3 version on the PS4 version and vice versa. You can even do it in the beta, if you've got it for both systems you can just boot it up and pick up where you left off on the other machine.

Can't say I'm blown away by this. I've completed 5/6 missions, and although the multiplayer side of it seems really slick, the actual gunplay is really average. It may not help that I've just come off playing Wolfenstein, but the lack of a decent cover and lean system just make the gunplay seem stale in comparison. Different game with different styles I suppose, and the strong melee is nice to use, but still, the actual guts of the combat is doing very little for me.

The art is nice enough and the music is classic Bungie, but I don't think it's doing enough on screen to justify it being stuck at 30fps on next gen consoles.

I'm only early in the game so I'm hoping that once different weapon and enemy types reveal themselves, things will pick up. I'm certainly not at pre-order cancelled levels, but given the hype, I'd hoped for more.

While I await a kind soul with a PS3 code, here's a question, if I buy the PS3 copy and my buddy runs it on PS4, will we be playing together?

Afraid not. If I recall correctly, Bungie have said next gen players would be at an advantage due to better draw distance etc.
