Dexter - Series 8 now done (US). It was the last series apparently.

Yeah, the second episode was pretty weak. There needs to be more happening than him killing someone after spending the episode moralising about it. The serial killer plot is a bit weak, it has a Nip/Tuck feel to it but hopefully it’ll pick up and Dexter and the Ice Truck guy start some form of Serial Killer duel. The potential is still there and Darla and the sister are great but ep 2 didn’t come close to ep 1.

What does RSS actually mean ? Is it like setting your PC to download stuff like a VCR ?

If you like, not a bad simile. It's a page format designed for summarising sites so that a computer can read them. It stands for Rich Site Summary, although laterly it's been referred to as "Really Simple Syndication".

When you subscribe to an RSS feed you'll see a number of articles which related to the content on that site, so in tvrss.net each article is an episode with a link to the torrent on mininova. I read all my RSS feeds in Opera and that displays them like emails. Once you've read an article you mark it as read. Simple.

In firefox you have "livemarks" which are pretty good but don't keep an archive. Click on the little RSS logo in either the address bar or down on the RHS in the status bar to subscribe to one.

IE7 gets RSS support. Don't know what it's like though.

Episode 2 was like a toned down version of epsiode 1. Still compelling though and potentially the cream of the crop of the new US tv season.

Makes up for me being disapointed with Weeds

Weeds, although not as funny as season 1, is essential viewing. Such a well written show.

Nice twist in ep 3.

But I thought he looked hilarious as his younger self in those flashbacks in that ep.

Interesting stuff starting to happen with that black cop too.

Teaser for next week is intriguing without giving too much away (IMO) too.

Agree, agree agree, agree.

Building nicely so far.

Anyone laughing along thinking, I really shouldnt be.

Pitches the comedy on the right side of dark imo.

Anyone know how well this is doing in the States then? Cos it deserves to be a big show.

I've heard FX channel is picking it up in the UK in January.

The intro in excellent, completely agree. I enjoyed the twist with the boy, it was interesting he didn't go through with it even though he knew what the boy's intentions were in the trees.

Thats an interesting one isnt it. I mean the boy was obviously using a bit of entrapment on the other kid, seeing if another person would try to rape him again. I mean he wasnt even that hot :D :D

Seriously though, is it morally correct to do such a thing, i.e. I was raped once and killed the guy that did it, so I shall lead another guy along and see if he does the same, and kill him too if he does? Its a toughy. But I think Dex did the right thing. Maybe it'll be revisited as the kid knows Dex aint normal what with the stalking, the choking and the needle.

Just caught up with the first three episodes of this. I am so glad I saw this topic otherwise I would have missed this one completely. Easily the best of the new series starting at the moment. Really looking forward to seeing where they take this.

No one seen episode 4 yet, then? Again, it's managed to get better.

Although, I thought Dexter's powers of deduction seem to be a little too intuitive for my liking, but the tone is pretty much spot on; I thought the pilot was a little too 'kooky', but they've replaced that with a real blackness. For a couple of episodes now I've suspected someone close to Dexter to be the killer (mainly his sister) just because it would be standard US TV twist type thing, but I'm now convinced that's not the case, which is better IMO.
