Hello everybody! I just bought a PS3 with Uncharted and Ratchet & Clank :(

I'm going to unpack it now and see if it all works, but I'm really happy with it already.

New hardware = :)

.::: What's your PSN ID? :P

Jeez, our brotherhood gets bigger and bigger by the minute. We're gonna take over the world soon, 100m here we come!

My only regret is that I didn't join the brotherhood sooner. I'm surprised at how impressive it is! So silent compared to the 360 :P

It's updating now, but before that it had already found my PC all by itself! Although I couldn't stream anything, all the data was 'corrupted', I'm hoping the update will sort that out. The PS3 can stream divx files, right? My 360 doesn't have a problem with those at all. Could it be because the files are on an external fat32 hdd?

As long as no-one spoils the roost.

You're not talking about me, right?

:)

Both fine games there. Very impressive showcases to show off your shiny new hardware.

I know :(

I wish I was a PS3 owner, but Chase keeps putting me off.

I love new hardware. Enjoy the freshness Mr Gerbik.

Thanks ;)

I love being one of the cool kids.

Prepare to be very disappointed with PSN ;)

It is a nice machine though, and Uncharted is also quite good.

I know all about PSN, but it can't be that bad because Soong's presence there makes it amazing. I hope I can come over to watch porn at Soong's place once Home arrives.

Finally, after trying countless names the damn thing finally accepted one. My PSN ID is MisterGerbik, I will add you now.

Edit: uhm it may take a while... I can't find the 'add friend' option! Where did I put that manual :)

Edit: it turns out I wasn't signed it automatically :P Found it now

Patches.

Oh and Harry, can you answer my Time Crisis 4 question above please?

When I had TC4 I wanted to get a pedal as well but I couldn't find one anywhere. I was after this one.

I'd imagine you'd just plug it in the USB port and it just act as an X button on the controller (the controller also works as a pedal).

The pedal just comes with a stereo headphone 3.5mm jack. Guess I'll need the drums plugged in at the same time then.

Should do but isn't 5400rpm a bit slow? You should try to find a 7200rpm one!

.::: NO! DO NOT BUY A 2.5" 72000 RPM REPLACEMENT HDD! JUST DON'T!

72000 RPMs are not stable with all games (though that's about a handful or so that give minor issues or slow down) and the promised speed-difference is completely negligible (4 seconds faster on a 15 minute install and comparable). Under no circumstances is it worth the extra money, never mind the compatibility issues that might occur with certain games.

Soong, have you decided whether I'm going to be allowed into your Home apartment for the rllmuk forum shindig?

We have to have a meeting about you. Gotta decide what tasks you gotta complete first! You gotta get the girl in your avatar to dance around naked for us. And you gotta dance around naked for Kit.

Okay, I'm loving my PS3 and Uncharted looks amazing. Very impressive stuff. But I was wondering if somebody could help with some n00bish questions:

-themes: there are a handfull on the store and they're all crap. Is it possible to make your own themes or download them from somewhere else? And can I change the colour of the letters in the XMB? I had a nice background image but the (white) menu becomes unreadable.

-there was an annoying RSS feed on the dashboard, I managed to turn it off. But I seem to remember reading something about other stuff that was fun and/or impressive? Something about a globe? What was that?

-when is Home out?

-any other tips for the new boy? Thinks I should know?

Thanks :o

- Google for PS3 themes, there are loads around. Find the neogaf thread, loads of decent ones in there.

The globe is folding@home. Download that and CURE CANCER! Or maybe they mean the globe visualiser when playing music. Play music and press square to change the visualiser. There are currently three I think.

Home has no date but I reckon the beta is May at the latest. Or this Thursday!

Thanks for the tips! I will go look for some decent themes right now :o

The globe thing I was thinking of must be the music visualiser. I remember you posting about it sometime ago, and iirc you were very enthusiastic. Will check it out.

I have to admit I have made fun about the whole Home concept in the past, but now that I have a PS3 myself I take everything back and admit I was wrong. Mainly because watching porn together with a bunch of forumites in Soong's living room should be brilliant.

Edit: but there's no way to change the colour of the menu then?
