A thread for PS3 owners Here

Hello Goaty ♥

I like regular firmware updates. Even if half the time they might not do anything. It's just has the shallow but cool feeling of levelling up your console.

I do wish they didn't take so long though.

It only takes a few minutes on my connection. Maybe I don't care as much because my PC is next to my PS3 so I can just do shit on that whilst I wait.

But what is it, 6 updates in about the last 6 months? Hardly something to get worked up about.

No one moans about the Wii updates, there have been a few of them! Not just that but they send you crazy messages about 4 times but at the bottom go "sorry if we sent you this already lol" so that's ok. No one complains.

That's worrying. My first Jap 60GB mpdel was almost silent, and a big selling point for my living room. I was going to buy a new one next week, but this but this put me off. Any others with this problem?

Well I got one of the new 40gb machines in the GT5 pack yesterday and I cant hear it next to me on the desk so they haven't changed the hardware and made it nosier, I'd suggest that any that sound like 360s are faulty.

Get a new game and you have to wait five hours to play it? :)

.::: GT5P was playable without the update. Most people thought it was mandatory, but it's only for the online part. If you cancelled it, you could play the game just fine.

I had someone return a GT5 yesterday because the update wasn't downloading.

Lets hope with this update, that Sony are also improving their servers, it took me fooking ages to get that update. I appreciate that they are proving free online service for online gaming, but whenever i'm downloading updates, snoozeville. Also a setting asking do you want downloading demos to auto install would be nice.

Yeah this is a good point. It'd be simple to implement and would stop people complaining about the time it takes to install demos.

On the other hand, it would mean that we'd have no time to make our sandwich.

Why don't they have a background install eh eh. I do background installs on my laptop all the time and it's nowhere near as powerful as a PS3 so I don't see what the problem is.

Also Folding at Home should work in the background too.

The whole download-and-then-install thing for PSN games and demos is shit. I don't think anyone sane would debate that. It's not even like they're compressed or something to speed up download: the file ends up the same size.

Firmware updates I have no issue with: as a rule they're like one a month or so, and they take maybe 10 minutes, and you get new features. I just hate when (as has happened a couple of times) they seem to rush one out and break a few other things.

Game installs seem to vary from the understandable to the inexcusable (DMC4, Everybody's Golf.)
