There is. You get an exclusive 6" Medicom action figure of Snake in Olive Drab Octocam, the Making Of disc, and an abridged version of the official soundtrack. It's freakin' sweet. Except for the fact Snake looks like Jimmy Hill.

That doesn't sound like it's worth an extra £40 though. A 6" figure probably worth £10, a making of disc which we'll all see on Youtube by tonight, and why an abridged version of the Soundtrack? Surely it should be the whole soundtrack.

It's a two-hour-plus BD-ROM, and Konami are rather jealously guarding it, since it cost a fortune to make. Don't expect it to show up very quickly if at all.

and why an abridged version of the Soundtrack? Surely it should be the whole soundtrack.

It's all the HGW bits from what I can tell.

The LE is going for twice it's RRP already on eBay, so I think it's a good investment.

Yeah, it won't turn up on youtube anytime soon. BD movie rips as big as 20 gigs turns up very quickly on newsgroups though, it'll be out there soon enough I gather.

Konami have been agressively bitch-slapping a lot of MGS4 content that has been put up on YouTube, like Rockstar did with GTA4. Although I don't think they're particularly concerned about this documentary getting out into the open - it's not like they're losing money, as you can only buy it with the Limited Edition (I think), and they're practically all sold out already.

Yeah, but there's torrents, newsgroups and things like MegaUpload. There's no chance it won't show up "at all"

Now MGS4 is out I'm simply going to have to get a PS3. I really would like backwards compatibility, though, as I have a lot of PS2 games and would like to replace my PS2 if poss.

Is there some rumour about BC coming to newer PS3s via download? Is it worth hunting out an older machine in Ebay, or should I just forget it and hang on to my PS2?

I've found the PS3 to be a little inconsistant in terms of quality when it comes to PS2 titles. Some look loads better and feel right at home whilst others perform better on the PS2. If it's a viable option for you, I'd keep the PS2 too.

Edit: I have a 60GB pal console with software BC, I don't know if an earlier jap/yank PS3 with hardware BC support acquired second-hand would be any different. It may well be.

They had some the last time I went into CEX for 375 so you may want to check your local one if you have one.

Personally I'm not fussed on BC because I still have my slimline.

Is there a website I can user to check BC performance? Main games would be Singstar, MGS3 and Gradius V. I would say Amplitude and Frequency, but they'll be hopeless on the PS3 pad. So maybe I should just keep the old PS2 instead...

I really am starting to develop a strong dislike for SCEE.

I've no idea about novastrike and commando, but WipEout is still in development and has never been given a solid date of anything this side of August. SCEE can't upload games that are still being developed ;)

They’ll probably be there soon, because Sony are about to start bundling their leftover, outdated Sixaxis controllers with a bunch of leftover games, in a not-as-dumb-as-it-looks attempt at shifting the remainder of their stocks. To retail for €60, the bundles will include one Siaxis controller and one of the following games: F1, GT5 Prologue, Folklore and MotorStorm
