A thread for PS3 owners Here

€60?

Isn't that more than buying the game and a Sixaxis (or indeed, an imported DualShock 3) separately would cost? Ludicrous...

£47 (so either £45 or £50). A sixaxis is £35 on its own or £40 for the 2 pack. The games range from £20 to £40 list price (or £18-35 being typical prices)

It might be worth testing certain games yourself if you get a chance (or getting someone else to), rather than rely on that EU list. I decided to whack Bujingai into my PS3 even though it's listed as having 'noticeable issues'. It worked fine! (So far anyway.)

Yeah, I've played a JP Bujingai all the way to the end on my PS3 and it works fine, so don't worry about that one.

Has anyone had any experience with faulty motion / tilt sensor in their controller? I've only had my PS3 for a few months now and I'm currently playing through Uncharted which requires you to tilt the pad to walk over logs / aim grenades and it doesn't seem to be registering the movements very well, if at all.

It's hard to make out which way Uncharted wants you to tilt the pad in those sections. Have you tried it with any other games? There's probably some demo that'll let you use sixaxis controls for something.

Just tried buying one from there but the payment bit won't work (have tried card and paypal). Grr.

I had the same problem yesterday. Neither payment option worked. I sent them an email and they tried to blame me for it. They said my address mustn't match my paypal address. I wrote back explaining that I have used paypal god knows how many times and never had a problem, but they insisted it was me and wouldn't take payment off me any other way (credit card payments wouldn't work either)

I don't know about you, but I kept getting a message from paypal saying it was a problem with 365games email address that's registered with paypal. 365games tried to tell me that means it's me that's at fault. So they aren't ever getting my business again no matter what payment options they add. Tossers.

Could someone please recommend a router which has a good wireless range, 4 ethernet ports + is reliable for ps3 online please. My router at the mo seems to be fine for everything except everybodys golf, but no one else has a problem with it so I can only hope a new router will sort my issues.

Is there a website I can user to check BC performance? Main games would be Singstar, MGS3 and Gradius V. I would say Amplitude and Frequency, but they'll be hopeless on the PS3 pad. So maybe I should just keep the old PS2 instead...

Bets best is to just list your games here, and anyone who's tried them can comment. The official BC list was only updated a couple of times, so is hopelessly out of date.

I can tell you that MGS3 and Gradius V both work flawlessly. Don't know about the others. Gradius V in particular looks amazing. Other than only being 4:3, in its upscaled and filtered glory, it looks as good as shmups will ever need to. If you've got a PS2 pad USB converter, you can connect your PS2 pad to the PS3 to play PS1/PS2 games on.

Thanks a lot for that, but I've just ordered a new PS3. So no upscaled Gradius V or MGS3 for me

I'm having the most incredibly difficult time ordering a PS3 from Amazon, mostly thanks to the ineptitude of Natfuckingwest. Suffice to say my fully in-credit account has been crippled by their inability to hold their dicks and piss at the same time.

Ah well, as soon as they sort their shit out, I'll be adding all you mofos to my friends list.

So... MGS4 bundle? Come on, the game is out now. I thought we were supposed to get something (not the gun metal grey edition, admitedly). I don't want to have to get some rubbish game bundled and sell it.

Gamestation.co.uk allow you to make your own bundle... you can get a PS3 and MGS4 for £324.89. Though a trip to blockbuster and an order from play.com will net you the same thing for 50p more.

It does seem odd that there is no bundle, I suppose they didn't want another SKU so soon after the GTA4 bundle?

No idea about Singstar, but I'm about 5 hours into MGS3 (Subsistence) and haven't spotted anything wrong... FMV skips a bit on Gradius but it plays perfectly, and Amp'd and FreQ work just fine (and look pretty damn good with the upscaling).

Both are still perfectly playable with the spongy triggers, but you can always use a PS2 pad and USB adapter. I picked up a couple from Game for a fiver a pop - rumble works fine too.

Tell me about it! Trying to actually buy a PS3 has been easily the most frustrating and time-consuming retail experience I think I've ever had. It's as if shops don't really want to sell £350 worth of stuff.

Gamestation: won't match their online offer in-store. No sale.

Game: won't let me redeem my reward points without me having the reward card with me, and have somehow managed to split my reward points over two cards anyway. No sale.

Blockbuster: had both a PS3 and MGS4 in stock, but were unable to sell them as a bundle (despite advertising "PS3 + any game for £320") because they didn't have a barcode for that particular combination. No sale.

Amazon: credit card problems for some reason, despite all the numbers being correct. Customer service guy hung up on me after not being able to hear me recite my card number over the phone, and I'm now unable to either re-submit my credit card details online or cancel the order and start again.

Sorry, that's all very boring, but I had to get it off my chest. Does any shop want to sell me a PS3 please?

Remember to bring substinence this weekend! (or however you spell it)

LOL. I'd forgotten about that. You sure you want to play that when you have MGS4?? I'd like to see how it looks upscaled, though. Still a lovely looking game.

So, Gamestation and GAME are sticking to their store policy, you are one of the only people in the UK incapable of ordering from Amazon, and Blockbuster obviously haven't updated their in store barcode book, and you'll have to wait a couple of days. Rather than getting stuff off your chest why don't you go and buy from one of the many 1000s of retail outlets you haven't tried? Or do you just like getting angry?
