bUT...it says 110v on the product description. Does the power supply accept any voltage?

Im not sure mate, i just used a pc power lead i bought off ebay it worked a treat. I would do a bit more reasearch on other forums as they might have changed the hardware inside since launch though alough i doubt it its better than frying your console.

Do people actually realise how many years and how many millions MS has plowed into XBL?

To think Sony can suddenly start matching them feature to feature in no time at all is a bit unrealistic isnt it. I mean its still Sony's fault for not starting their online work earlier but at least they are starting to catch up now.

Doesn't need money as much as a bit of planning and foresight. Sony just weren't fussed about integration and, as a result, are having a hard time retroactiely fitting it.

The fact that MS hold a patent on its method of implementing custom soundtracks is also a bugger.

PS3 official blue tooth headset. Now I'm being really serious when I say I have no idea what it is. Can someone explain to me exactly what a bluetooth head set does and how you wear/work it?

Your jokeing right, its a wireless headset that uses bluetooth instead of wifi or ir or any other wireless tech. You use it to talk to people in game or on the dash.

Its just a wireless headset. You use them with phones and the PS3. Bit like the infra red on a remote control.

Do you get the headphones with it?

It comes out of that big circle thing it's sitting in. That's just a stand. The earpiece is the size of a usb memory stick, with a loop to go round your ear and hold it in place.

You 'pair' it to your PS3 (or a bluetooth phone) and it's like having one earphone in. Except it's also a microphone.

I said something like this months ago, but in-game XMB was really never going to be the holy grail people were hoping it'd be. And exactly for all the reasons people are now realising: seeing the menus doesn't magically make the options work in-game.

What's disappointing is that Sony have allowed themselves to be dragged along by Internet yelping (presumably thinking this is them being responsive and listening) without really thinking through what their customers were really asking for.

In-game XMB isn't the end, it's what the internet thought would be the means to the end. The end is in-game chat, invites, custom soundtracks and those sorts of things.

Sony are idiots.

Yes, exactly this. I watched the videos on the firmware updates and he says things like 'and now you can pull up xmb and go to the internet browser directly from in-game! Of course you have to leave the game you're playing....' Now obviously I don't expect for the game to run in the background while you're browsing but it doesn't really make any difference from quitting to the dash and then running the internet browser. It's great you can now finally check your friends list and messages in-game but apart from that and trophies, which look like they will have a fragmented introduction to say the least, it looks very underwhelming. It's still a big game of catch-up for Sony.

.::: Wait... Aren't in-game messages like invites (or can in any case be used for that)? I concur that the update isn't all that, but having access to messaging was the main point of interest for me.

Can you initiate voice chat/private chat while playing a game or do you have to leave back to the main dashboard that too?

edit- It seems not. Well they've have since late 2006 release to match xbox live, and if it hasn't happened by now, might be a while. Shame.

.::: Don't know. I imagine you need to quit, as the voice chat thing always used its own 'room'.

Still it's a massive improvement to how it is right now. Can't expect for it all to change in one update- hope they add in in game private chat later on though, it's a really useful feature.

Basically I wanted 2.4 to give me the ability to play EG5 with voice chat with a friend via the xmb, but it seems thats not possible

Without the ability to send game invites it seems a bit redundant. We shall see how things work out I suppose.

.::: As said, you can send messages. Exactly how is this redundant then? Unless you are too weak-willed to even enter the title of a game followed by a question mark?

The PS3 mic community is quite sparse though asking whose got a mic in a game lobby is like standing in a pub in Scotland and asking whose round is next… a punch in the cock to the cheeky colonising arse asking for it. FREEDOM!

Corrected.
