You raid cock-ups

The other night, we were fighting Golemagg, and us rogues went in after our mt established aggro. I backstabbed my way up to 5 combo points, and was about to feint to lose a bit of aggro, when I clicked expose armour, which has been sitting next door to feint since about level 20. The sunders vanished, and golemagg charged off and started battering the mages, then the locks, till a tank managed to pick him back up and bring him back. I kept quiet, and nobody seemed to spot the debuff up there, but nobody could understand why he was rampaging through the cloth.

Have you ever wiped a whole raid by doing something dense?

More points for you've been framed style videos

Hmm, can't think of anything particular like that except for once when getting ready for Razorgore.

I accepted a res from someone but for some weird reason I ended up the far side of the room, near Vael's gate. Everyone was buffing up and getting ready on the other side, I thought I could stealth over and join them.

"Intruders have breached the hatchery, sound the alarms!"

"Fuck"

"WTF LOL OMG WTF GRATS THANKS REPAIR BILLS WTF"

Okay no-one was that bad to me. Benefits of being an officer at the time I guess, might even ahve been leading the raid so people couldn't get too narcy :)

Thing was, it served people right. They could have run out of the instance before getting killed IF THEY HAD STAYED ON THE STAIRS LIKE I HAD BEEN TELLING PEOPLE TO EVERY RAID. So yeah, all these people running aroudn the corner to get buffed deserved the repair bills.

Besides, I wasn't the first one to wipe a preparing raid like that, people had done it plenty of times trying to res people, wandering eye of kilroggs etc so I didn't feel so bad. But that's the worst I've done.

Also wanted to ask - how can expose armour remove the tank's aggro like that? Even if it did remove the sunders surely it wouldn't remove the aggro those sunders had generated? And even if it did, surely a tank has more aggro than what he's built from sunders alone (I seem to remember one tank boldly and arrogantly claiming he didn't ever use sunders to hold aggro, to be fair on him, he did hold aggro well)

That was the effect it had anyway, he ran straight off after I did it. You might well be right though, could have just been a coincidence, not too sure if the sunders have to stay, or wether they make aggro that's kept. I'll have to experiment ;-)

I've had a few, some really really stupid ones.

One was managing to get aggro off the mt from anubrekhan by casting curse of tongues before he'd done anything. Another was using rain of fire on the scarabs in the twin emperor's room cause the mt was screaming on vent for aoe since someone managed to aggro them.

And of course, the most genius one of them all; getting a lag spike just as I reach the door to c'thun's room so I overshoot, get aggro and kill 20 or so people as c'thun's eye beam hits.

I've had a couple of great ones.

One time I dropped my plate on my Shadowbolt button and wasn't fast enough to cancel the spell before it let loose and pulled Vael in BWl. Everyone died.

Another time I pulled the caster emperor from the twemps when I accidentally hit my Death Coil button instead of my HS one. They've been next to eachother since I can remember too, and as soon as he came after me the teleport happened and the Melee emperor saw fit to start beating the shout of the healers. Everyone died.

My best ever raid wipe though, is stuff of legend. We'd just got up to Ebonroc in BWL, and like an eager beaver I let loose my eye of kilrogg to have a bit of an explore past him and Flamegor (or Firemaw, I can never remember the name). If you've been to BWL, you'll know what the scene is like. There's a ramp leading up to Ebonroc, and Flamegor is next to him, and behind Flamegor is the path to Neffys room and the lever that lets out Chromaggus.

I had no troubles getting the eye past Ebonroc, but everytime I got to Flamegor he hit it and I had to start again. So I very carefully managed to manoeuvre it past Ebon, and just about managed to get it past Flamegor. After about 5 seconds of exploring the room next to Chromaggus I see the +Combat sign appear above my head and before I know it I've managed to pull Flamegor but not Ebonroc into the entire raid.

As far as I'm aware of game mechanics, it has to be impossible to pull just Flamegor and leave Ebonroc stationary there like that.

Regardless, everyone died.

earlier today i had my Fade and Psychic Scream buttons swapped over as i was pvping yesterday, in the supression rooms in BWL i attempted to fade(hotkey E) and pressed Fear instead, sending whelps of all falvours into lots of other whelps.

i hid.

I was going to ask if that was you!

But we didn't wipe, so all good.

Personally I'm very good at wiping raids.

At Jin'do the other week I was guarding the skeleton pit, and whne low on health I blinked to avoid taking some more damage. Unfortunately we hadn't cleared the room and I blinked into a pack of trash mobs, who promptly slaughtered me and set off for the raid. Spinning my camera round I was phonomonally happy to see Jin'do dropping dead at that exact moment, and then yet happier to see my T2 wearing raid wipe to some trash mobs.

And Vael is the other one I've done a few times. Get BA, stand in the middle of the raid, watch your DPS and damage done go nuts. I'm sure I've done this 2 or 3 times, and generally it's just meh. But last week I did it on the first attempt, around 10%, and we then proceeded to wipe another 4 or 5 times for other reasons. Made me feel worse about my effect.

But then the next week, when someone was too lagged to move, everyone was spot on at moving the other way. So it wasn't totally stupid. Maybe. :)

"Let me try something..." deserves to go on frickin' WoWwiki. I look forward to more such moments in Outland, just give me time to run like a bastard to the entrance first, hmmm?

Anyway, not quite a raid wiper but I did stand too close to the Eye Tentacle spawn point of our section once and got knocked back a dozen feet or so towards the guys at the back of our group. Alas, C'Thun decided this was the perfect moment to blast me with his eye beam and it chained to them while still in mid-air, killing them instantly. Think I might have linked an impale on Anub'rekhan once as well, not sure.

Back in the days when we were learning Fankriss, I had some pretty major ISP issues. Certain locations in the game - Razorgore's room, suppression room etc - caused me to disconnect. Fankriss was new to us and I'd made it through the tunnel to the fight without any problems, so I foolishly assumed the best. We rumbled through the tunnel, and took up in the 'safe spot' on the left just before Fankriss's chamber. Rebuffs were done, and we charged. Well, they charged. I DC'd, still in the little nook. I battled to get back into the game, and listened on TS as the rest of them wiped. Ten minutes later, the other 39 were back in Sartura's room buffing up again and I finally got on. No problem, I thought - I'm in the 'safe spot'.

Except it's only safe when you've killed the elite bugs... which had, by now, repopped. I got swarmed and thrashed by a dozen bugs, yet miraculously didn't die. At about 100HP left, they turned tail and raced up the tunnel.

Teamspeak was good:

Random voice: "Welcome back, Gramme."

Raid leader: "You in the safe spot, yeah?"

Me: "Yeah, no problem."

Raid leader: "We're just buffing up, we'll be right there... try not to DC again."

Random healer: "Gramme, why are you taking damage?"

Me: "Um..."

Random voice: "Fuck, I'm in combat... WTF?"

Random voice II: "Me too."

Panicky random voice: "What's going on?"

Me: "I aggro some aggro, but they didn't kill me. Weird."

Random voice: "I'm still in combat though."

Random voice II: "It's OK, I thi... holy fuck, bugs incoming!"

Raid leader: "What did you do, Gramme?"

Me: "Nothing... I just...."

Hysterical random voice: "They're coming out of the goddamn walls!"

Hysterical random voice II: "Jesus Christ, that's a lot of bugs..."

I've seen the screenshots of this bit from the raid's perspective. Probably around 200 bugs are swarming over the crest of the hill from the Fankriss tunnel into Sartura's room. Three dozen happy buffers are eaten alive, most of them before they can even get to their feet - Draenor's finest mashed in seconds. I was the last one still alive.

I think there's a video of someone on another server doing this same stunt; just a shame we didn't have Fraps running - it could have been my fifteen minutes of fame.

We've had that happen a couple of times, too. I'll post a screenie later of me watching the bugs stream past me on their way to eat someone, in the full knowledge that I am too far in to escape the same fate. It's a rather awesome sight... the first time, at least.

Hehe, i did the same type of thing after a wipe...... 'Just gonna get a drink, i`m in the safe spot, 10 mins.....' come back to find myself dead at the graveyard and some less than amused comments in the guild channel.... Ooops ^_^

The other night on raggy we decided to see if we could use pets to help with the sons, we can do it ok, we were 'just trying something'. The pets were near the MT on stay, and sat there quite happily, and the hunters charged them into the sons when they appeared. The sons got aoed nicely, and went down, all pets dead. We wiped on phase three for some reason, I think we lost some ranged during the sons, and everyone except a hunter ended up dead, feigning death in a corner. During the ressing, one of the pallies clicked on a pet near me, instead of a player, and after it ressed, it ran straight to raggy and attacked. After raggy one shotted the pet, he finished everyone else off with his fireballs.

I could see him ressing the pet, and on teamspeak I said something like this : 'GNUUERGHG STOP!' which scored 10 for emotion, but 0 for useable information.

Pets are put away now, just like we always have done.

Well, this one was still a mystery, but...

http://suek.co.uk/bosses.wmv

Basically, we were fighting Broodlord happily. Then all of a sudden the above happened. It might've been a Rain of Fire clipping through, or the Sulfuron Hammer proc or something but.. what the ass? ^_^

(Sadly Fraps'd on my old PC which couldn't handle the chaos quite so well.. note how I completely lock up upon death :()

But me personally? Hmm... well, I talked to the NPCs at Rajaxx prematurely once, no wipe or anything, we just ran out and reset :( This week at AQ20 I ran into bugs and told everyone to turn around and WAIT at Ossirian's terrace (just killed him, heading to Buru) but ofc, no one ever listens and kept running and.. into the bugs after I got out the instance.

Heh, one of our warlocks also managed to pull Chromaggus during the suppression room as well. I don't think anybody really minded since it's quite something to see chromaggus and the 2 drakes hurtling towards you.

Well, once at least. After that, everyone was very careful to keep aoe away from the walls.

Here's one for Dennis Norden's WoW Special.

We'd wiped on Vael and the DPS had been somewhat lacking compared with usual so to squeeze out as much as possible, the hunters got their pets out to bite and claw and scratch for all they're worth. We were standing in our buffing spot, just about to take our foodbuffs when...

..well, I'm sure you can guess. Bad kitty, bad.

Not sure, but I think my worst was on a Heigan the unclean attempt (we'd actually killed him a million times before though), and I was rather tired, lack of sleep ftl

Anyway, we'd had some mishaps I think with people dying from bats and the bugs, so ressing was being done and I'd had to sit and drink. But not before I'd placed a mana spring totem. I got my mana back, but the totem was still there, and we'd all been told to get in to attempt Heigan. You can see where this is going yeh?

Pulled bats and bugs in after us as I didnt have time to slap the totem down on the platform before it happened. I cant remember whether we wiped or not, as we have actually killed him even when this has occurred in the past, so its all a bit hazy. I didnt mention it to anyone other than Sith I think, who just lolled

Cant really think of anything else as bad really. Worst I've done on my Paladin is buff a Warrior while he's tanking and you get the "you have aggro" warning for a second before the warrior got the aggro again.
