Cancelled my pre-order with Gamestation this morning, just really can't be bothered with it, no excitement or passion for it in me so i thought it was a bit pointless. ill probably get one at christmas when the price has dropped and their is something really worth playing.

More of this kind of post please! <_<

I've just cancelled my pre-order with Gameplay for pretty much the exact same reasons. The only game that I have any interest in at the moment is Motorstorm and £483 (£425 PS3, £40 Game, £18 HDMI Cable) to play one game is far too much at the moment.

I've been toying with pre-ordering all week, have even got a buzz out of waiting for the assistant with preorder information to home in on me like an exocet missile, (usually takes about 30 seconds if anyone stands near the PS3 displays in Game or HMV). Then I too look at the games on the shelf and see only M'Storm and Resistance on the shelf that generate any will to play and realise that now is not the time.

The irony for me is that i'm now almost tempted because they'll be so easy to get hold of. I only bought a Wii on launch night on a whim with no pre-order. Ridge Racer 7 tempts me, but the Dual Shock 3 (erm) and obvious price obscenity are warding me off.

If I simply think of the PS3 as a new gadget, rather then a new games console, all of a sudden I want to buy one.

This.

However, it's a games console.

It's a games console.

It's a games console.

And I've already got *lots* of games consoles.

HMV dropped their deposit to £50, GAME have had a poster in the window saying "Last Few Days To Preorder!!" for 2 weeks now. Shops are desperate, I can feel it

Popped into town today (Mansfield) and it`s pretty much the same story. HMV had a couple of signs saying 14 PS3 Guaranteed left. Woolworths, Currys, Comet are still doing pre orders along with blockbuster. By the look of things there shouldn`t be a problem getting one on launch day round my end. At £425 theirs no wonder those pre-orders aren`t filled yet. More worrying though is the complete lack of must have games at launch (which is what you need to push a £425 games console into peoples homes)

If - for whatever reason - the pre-orders don't all go, and there is stock to pick up on the shelves, how long would Sony keep the price as high as it is?

I'm not in any rush, but the longer things are going on, the more games I'm spying on the machine (Heavenly Sword in particular) make me want one.

For once, I'm steadfastly NOT going to fork out full whack (I'm still bitter about the gigantic amounts of money I paid for mt US Gamecube and Xbox really - well over the cost of a PS3 (eep) ).
