.::: Look, I'm sorry for causing such a commotion. But tbh, I did get the feel Smitty was using that last page I commented on as some kind of "Posts of doom and gloom" collection. Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick there.

But please, lengthier fuses would be very welcome...

Well, i've got the money, but if I spent i'd have very little for the rest of the month. I was going to get around this by exchanging my 360 and a couple of games, and getting a second hand PS3 from CEX, which would allow me to knock a hundred quid + off the cost to me.

But i've just remembered that my damn 360 HDD is at my boyfriend's place outside London, so I can't trade it.

Also, selling the 360 would only be a tempory measure, basically a loan, I definitely want to carry on having a 360. The PS3 is my moment of madness.

This is all quite annoying because I should be able to pay for the PS3 straight-up, without exchanging my 360, but somebody owes me £200, and i'm not convinced they're are going to be able to give it to me this weekend, as agreed.

If I had that money, i'd have £600 in total right now (currently £400) and I wouln't have to hawk the 360 or live on dried beans for the rest of the month.

I wish I had a credit card. Damn.

I've had some offers by PM (see my wanted folder thread) about PS3s, but unless people are willing to take part payment I will have to wait.

I've put about 4 hours in on the multiplayer today and it's a right laugh, but there are one or two problems.

Let's start with the problems, first a small one, when you finish a game and your ranking points increase, you don't seem to see it in game until you start another match which is a bit of a pain when you make Sargeant and want to create a clan. As I say though it's a small problem, but people will moan about it. The second problem and this one's a biggy, when you search for a game and up pops the game list, you can't actually select anything. Your D-Pad doesn't respond up or down and X to start the game doesn't work. It did work for me on the first game, but since that nothing. This has also been mentioned on Neogaf, there must be a way of fixing it but I haven't worked it out yet. Luckily you can just press triangle to quick join any game, but it's a real pain not being able to join the match you want.

The multiplayer itself is absolute mayhem, and brilliant for it. A selection of deathmatch, assasination, capture and hold, deliver the package modes are present and the host can turn gametypes off, so if you don't like assasination for example you just turn it off and go with the others. One issue with this seems to be that if you just select Bodycount (Deathmatch) or any other mode on it's own, then the game will just end as soon as the objective is met. You can't set a count limit or time limit, this is a pain in the nuts too but thankfully the standard game modes are really fun and add variety. The ranking system seems fine, with some effort needed to get some of the later perks, very little is available in the early stages. I've just made Sargeant (100 points) and this just opens up the ability to create a clan.

I haven't come accross any lag yet, and voicechat works fine. It's mainly French, German and a few Americans online so far. Oh and for those that have asked Promo copies do work online.

I can see this is going to have some legs online but the non selectable game issue will cause many people some confusion so be warned. Hopefully they'll fix it very soon.

Fair enough, but just owning a PS3 as a primary console with no 360 is a scary thought for the videogame enthusiast.

I've been there, it was a dark time.

and..I guess you could try your luck and get a non-time bomb Jasper *Fingers crossed.

Also...I pre-ordered KZ2 today. Better be fucking good.

My mini review, Singleplayer - Lovely looking but generic gameplay with annoying NPC squaddies screaming "Fuck yeah!" every 15 seconds 7/10. Multiplayer - Lovely looking, nice gametypes, good ranking system and really fun 9/10.

Got killed by a helghast and while I was lying there slowly dying he stopped and waved at me as if to signal he just killed a noob. Very funny to see. He just turned his head a little sideways and gave me a little wave. Nice.

I'm three missions in and it's just great fun with some cool and amazing firefights and setpieces. The weapons are all very satisfying to use. They sound good and meaty too and that STA-111 SMG (I think it's called) is awesome! The amount of bullets it can spit out in no time is just a sight to behold - it looks and sounds so awesome when you just let it rip. I love that the weapons are noisy and feel powerful. Very Aliens like. Great stuff.

Had to turn the Y axis sensitivity up a few notches, since it felt too slow on default, but it feels very good now. Turning it up even more makes it all way to fast for me. I like that it all feels and looks a little clunky - makes it all the more satisfying to use the weapons on the helghast since they also move around a little slowly due to the weight of their weapons and armour. There's a good weight to everything in the game that I like.

Oh, and the lighting effects in this game is probably the best I've seen yet. Yes - the graphics and environments are grey and dusty but the lighting IN those environments is extremely impressive. It just looks....real.

And there's no tearing and slowdown. Big plus for me since it makes it all so much better to look at. Hate tearing with a passion.

It doesn't to a lot of new things but it's just so very satisfying to play and shoot these guns at those enemies and seeing the weapons effects. It's just a really solid, very well made first person shooter. Excactly as it should be.

I haven't even used the pistol yet, since I tend to stick with the same rifle because they are all so fun to use ;)

I'm buying it almost exclusively for multiplayer now I reckon, so it's good to hear nice things about it. Is there a thread in online with potential players? I'm still stuck on 0 PSN friends. ;)

You make it sound as good as Haze! I hope it doen't disappoint you later on, etc.
