Rex Grossman
Bastards. It wasn't intentional, but they did it. They've got form.
Ferine
They use recorded next-day delivery, so it should be with you tomorrow. Scratch that, I just noticed the earlier e-mail saying they're not actually sending the games off until tomorrow. Thursday it is.
Smitty
I was going to buy a PS3 tonight but I couldn't make it to the bank. Bah to limited withdrawals.
Cthulhu Steev
Any choice comments you can pass on? Sure! "By the time the game limply draws to a pathetic close a mere six hours later, you realise two things. Firstly, that the opening cinematic was designed by some awesome effects house, and secondly, that the rest of the game was designed by bum-handed bore-bots with a humour bypass. We're not saying there should be banana skins and Benny Hill music or anything, but dear higher entity, this is po-faced stuff." "Looking for a new gameplay experience? Look elsewhere, Killzone 2 couldn't be more meat and potatoes if it was a cottage pie. It goes something like this: you enter a room. Run about until you stand on the exact point that will trigger the wave of enemies. Hide behind some cover. Wrestle with the fiddly controls to pop out and shoot. Maybe blow up a big red barrel." "We did like the Helghast's faux cock-er-ney British accents though, you can close your eyes and pretend you're going postal at a Dick Van Dyke convention. This is what happens when you put your money where your mouth is - only to find you've got nothing to say." I found it pretty damned funny, but seeing as I'm buying the game anyway I can lollololololol.

Steven
It's Gears of War! Exactly what I was thinking reading that. I've got it pre-ordered, but might just rent it for a week to see if I like the MP. I found the default controls to work really well - don't get all the 'fiddly' business. Yiggy
Well I've pre-ordered for under £30 so I will have something else to play on my nice new PS3. In fact I might complete it and write something about it on my new blog. Hmmm.
Dude Ranch
Some of it perhaps but lolz things like the cole train is very deliberate It's not that funny though, really. Is it? I think they tongue-in-cheeked it cos they saw how daft it would have been otherwise. Not that I mind either way, I enjoyed both GOWs .

Smitty
It's Gears of War! Yes, Gears of War, with its famously fiddly controls.

Not that I mind either way, I enjoyed both GOWs . The Cole Train is hilarious. To me anyway. Gears has a real exaggerated style with all the muscles and big suits and smaller heads. The enemies also look like they've actually been moulded out of clay. It's a style a lot of people hate but it is a style. I think there are elements of it that are very definable. I played a good amount of Killzone 2 today. Some of the idiots you fight with as just as moronic as the guys in Gears but you can tell listening to them that there won't be a moment in the game where you'll laugh or smile at them rather than constantly sigh. It's not been very intrusive so far on that end so I don't mind and the game is simply stunning technically but the marines seem more on par with Haze than anything interation wise. We should have a Captain Price of the future telling us what to do, with a handlebar moustache and all.

El Spatula
Well the Gears controls are a bit shit. Especially on Gears of War 1. Not the most responsive character ever. And I don't think the humour is intentional.

Okotta
Killzone 2 is a lot like Aliens, Starship Troopers with a bit of RoboCop. Gears of War - especially the sequel - is too much Alien: Ressurection, Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation and RoboCop: The Series. It's all so safe and harmless. El Spatula
Just to get this straight I'm also not a massive Killzone 2 fan. It's very fancy but massively uninspired. And the Sixaxis is POO for FPSs

Count Buffalos
He's righjt though isn't he? GOW characters control like big meat tanks. Perhaps that's intentional as well though?
Mr.Crowley
The guys in GoW control like Ryu Hayabuza compared to the lumbering shortarse you inhabit in Killzone 2.

Smitty
No. Everything i've seen of KZ2 so far, seems to me humourless in comparison with GOW. Look, i'm quite clear that a lot of people don't like GOW's style or its mix of brash OTT stuff and tounge-in-cheek humour, but.....well, I do. I've always struggled with the way GOW is regarded by some, because on paper I might want to agree, but in reality I actually like those characters, and most of the dialogue. Particularly Marcus, something which some people seem to find hilarious. Meh, whatever.
