Absolute nightmare to pick 3....

Goldeneye (N64)

Chrono Trigger (SNES)

Shadowrun (SNES)

Not sure how shadowrun would hold up but i loved it way back when and the other two although i did finish them, would love to do it all again in RGB.

so many others i could mention though, can't we have ALL the games for everything Nintendo? :)

Not expecting any of these anytime soon but i'd go mad for

Earthbound (SNES) - only ever played the emulated version, love the sense of humour and music to pieces

Parodius (SNES) - never played this properly, really want to

Spacestation Silicon Valley (N64) - again, just funny and great music

Agreed. I can only play JRPGs on handheld. Seems surprising we haven't seen a handheld port yet. And Secret of Mana. Does they not have the brand recognistion of FF or something?

Bizarrely, before the release of the DS Square did a poll on their Japanese website regarding old titles players would most like to see on the DS. Chrono Trigger topped the poll, and yet nothing's ever come of it.

I'd say a Secret of Mana VC release/DS port isn't unlikely, given Square's current 'Revival of Mana' superproject.

ISS 98 - I'd never need another football game ever.

Mario Tennis 64 - Quite possibly the most fun tennis game ever, we poured hours and hours into the 4p mode, simply heaven.

Doom 64 - Another one for Doom 64, absolutely loved this to bits. The atmosphere was just so creepy, those crying babies completely freaked me out.

Roadsters (N64)

Awful game. Certainly no World Driver Championship (I think that's what it was called), and F1WGP2 is head and shoulders the best driver on N64.

My three would be -

Banjo-Kazooie

Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Rogue Squadron

3) Chrono Trigger (SNES)

Another game I've never played, but I've always wanted to. I just can't relax enough when I'm sitting at my PC to play RPGs, and the SNES emulators for the PSP still leave a lot to be desired.

You running 3.01OE+? You could just use the PS1 port surely?

I vote:

Chrono Trigger (SNES)

Zelda: Ocarina of Time (64)

Excitebike 64 (64)

absolutely. i'd even go so far as to proclaim it possibly the best tennis game ever. the GC sequel added too many ingredients to the already near perfect mix and ended up ruining it.

Interesting. Whilst it has been a long time since I played it, I do have fond memories of Roadsters, not being a triple A game, but being damn good fun and a joy to play. However, rose tintied glasses and all. Plus you named Rogue Squadron which is far more deserving of a place in my list than Roadsters, altho to be fiar there are so many N64 games I would love to play again it pisses me off that they are being so slow about releasing them. Nes and SNES games are ok but I find if I have not played the game back in the day (and N64 was really more my era than either SNES or NES) that the games now just seem horribly dated and without having the memories of what they were like I can't get too much enjoyment out of them. For me the stuff I am looking forward to are the N64 games so I really wish Nintendo would start not only releasing them but releasing some of the lessor known stuff. Mario 64, Mario Kart, Zelda OOT are great games but at least 2 of them I've played recently on either the GC or the DS and I would really like them to start releasing the N64 games that they have not been pimping for the last few years (Mario 64 DS and Zelda on the GC collector disk for example...).

I can't really imagine being massively excited about any pre-N64 games being made available. I'll still buy some when they eventually appear because the convenience is still the big selling point for me, but if I was really desperate to play them I already have about a million ways to go about it.

Yeah, but for those that can't be arsed or are even interested in emulation or trawling through Ebay then the fact for a couple of quid you can download and play away from the comfort of your couch on your new console is a big bonus. Like people have said before I don't think VC is aimed at the emulation whores.

Err...

There's no err about it. It's the itunes-a-like download service for Wii (or at least it should be once the libary has expanded). Just like there are plenty of folk who don't use/know/understand bit-torrent etc they can just click a link and can legally download a song, which is what VC does for retro titles.

They don't need to know or be interested in what emulator is best, what site to get the downloads from, which software to use to download. They just think they fancy a play on an old favourite, click the link on their console, download and play it.

It was just that "not interested in emulation" doesn't really make sense. If you weren't interested in emulation you wouldn't be interested in the VC, which basically just an easy to use emulator. Saying you can't be arsed is fine, that makes sense.

You're being anal. The user doesn't even have to think of it as emulation, it's just a way to play the game they want. A service like VC is all about giving he user the ability to play old games and not have to think about the gubbins behind it all. It may be emulation, but to many it'll just be another game on the console.

Right. But we're talking about people on here, not the average consumer who doesn't know what emulation is and just wants to try Sonic out again.
