No, fade is completely pointless in PvP. What it does is reduces a mobs threat on you for a short period of time

Right, so if you're getting jumped around non player characters, it comes in handy, non? Allows you to focus on the player character rather than the mob.

Again, I'm not sure that's the case. It reduces your threat, but if there's no one around you with higher, I don't believe the mob has anyone to move on to? Unless it's changed since I was priest, but I never found it would disengage a mob from me when I was on my own.

i was at raven hill with three others yesterday, taking out ghouls and whatnot. Two horde (Undead and Troll) turn up and start giving us grief... fade took the ghouls off me, shield kept me safe(ish), fear or if either of the above didn't work, and i was able to focus on fighting the undead and troll.

Or am I missing something here?

Were you grouped with the three others, or were they fighting different mobs? If you were grouped then chances are 'your' mobs went onto your friends instead. If not, it could depend on the classes of the enemies that attacked you. Say if one was a hunter, and used multi-shot, that could hit some of your mobs as well as you, so that when you used Fade they had another target to go for.

Just some thoughts, 'cause Fade doesn't completely reduce mob hate, like Feign Death or Vanish does, so unless someone else is attacking your mob, you should still be top of it's hate list after Fading.

Part of what he's describing I have seen happen though and even recreated it once or twice. You get jumped by the opposing faction. While fighting you pull a mob (body pull), so you fade and it attacks the other player. This happens, without doubt. You should have both caused the same amount of threat (from the proximity only) yet the priest fades theirs off.

Now if you were already fighting a mob and got jumped Im not sure you could fade off that much aggro to the other player if they'd not also attacked it.

I'd still say change sever to a pve one, its much less frustrating. Unless you have a group of people that you're going to play with pretty regularly, and all level up at roughly the same speed. In which case its rather fun.

My first character that I really made an effort with (ie, leveled past 20 - a priest which I still played as my main until I stopped playing) was leveled on a pvp server, but with a group of people who I knew who were almost always on at the same time as me. It was great fun, as it made questing more exciting, yet cut down on the frustration of being jumped by a pair of people and having no chance. Most of the time, the fights were fair-ish.

Only pussies play on a pve server. Level up on a pvp server, get ganked and do some ganking yourself. It will only prepare you even more for end-game pvp, that's where the real fun is at.

Gotta agree with this. I enjoyed levelling up in the PvP environment on Ravenholdt alot more than the no danger surroundings of ER. It`s always that little more exciting knowing you could get cut to ribbons any second.... Although it is annoying when it happens and it`s A SODDING NELF HUNTER/ROGUE.. BASTARDS

Used to love it when you'd encounter another tagged enemy, you`d eye each other up and either decide to go mental or just let it lie. Although, the best thing ever on ER was when i was PvP enabled on my hunter and was killing some stuff in un'goro and one-shotted a PvP enabled rogue by accident <_<

Latest game on ER seems to be flying around PvP flagged in front of summong portals round the instances. The druid really regretted that when the thing i summoend was a PvP tagegd hunter that proceeded to emerge through the portal and DESTROY the annoying druid in roughly 2seconds flat.

The annoying thing about PvP realms is you can't turn it off. Most of the time I loved it but there are days where I just can't be arsed with the PvP and there's no way out. On the other hand on ER there have been many many times I've wished the little alliance shite whose nicked my herb was PvP flagged. Oh well C'est la vie and all that

One of the best bits about raiding on ER is the main alliance guild, Lost Chapter, runs flagged. So when you're waiting for raids to start, you can wait outside the gates of the raid instances and give them a good ganking. Then run inside screaming like a girl when they go for you.

So i made a big mistake this week: wanted to try VC with a different class to my main or secondary, so I paid a chinese outfit to power level up to 20 for me. brand new character, same account. Honestly didn't think for a second that it was against the rules/cheating. Just wanted to see what it'd be like to do VC with a lock. You can, of course, guess what happened next. Account banned. Fuckidy fuck. My 35 priest and 23 warrior, fucked. days and days put into the game, gone. Very stupid of me, but I was only messing around... honestly didn't even think about whether I was doing anything wrong.

Gutted.

But you already know the quests you can get an ez-mode warlock up to lvl20 in like 1 afternoon.

you didn't think for 1 second when handing over your account password/username that anything could go wrong :)

they probably lvled your char on a shitty bot program .

You know, I didn't even think about it in truth. fucknuts. Here's what they said in their mail to me:

"reoccurring trends in exploitative endeavors on your accounts have ultimately lead to their closure"

and

"Section 5, Paragraph C [Rules Related to Game Play] states that you may not do anything that Blizzard Entertainment considers contrary to the "essence" of World of Warcraft."

Exploitative endeavors? Eh? Bot?

So can you sign up again and start over? Or are you banned for life (on that address/credit card)?

I'm sure you can start a new account if your main one is permabanned, you just won't be able to access the old one or transfer characters/items from it. I'm not sure if they ban whatever payment method you were using at the time, but even if they do you could always use gamecards instead.

Meh. Yeah, I started a new character, but am pretty bummed tbh. If I was doing it on my main I'd be able to accept it more, but to be fucking around with another character and lose my main.... that hurts.

I'm still hopeful that my appeal will be successful: once they reply to my mail I'll send them a pleading 'i was stupid, please let me keep my main' email. Fingers crossed it works out.

Stop being a bitch. Roll a horde lock on a pve server and come join the fun!

Drop me a pm if you want one of those levelling guides that tells you where to go etc....

It never dawned on me to mention in a 'what do I need to know?' thread that botting was Bad. I kinda took it as a given.

You'll be *extremely* lucky to get your account back, no matter how much you apologise to the account management people. You broke a rule they regard as pretty fundamental to the integrity of the game.

Hehe, thx

Ya, me too. Didn't stop to think that paying someone else to play would get me banned/was bad, but hey. Didn't think about whether they'd bot or not.

They'll just come back with a canned response I reckon. They must ban a shitload of accounts each week and to be fair botting is up there as the biggest offender apart from harassing other players and selling gold.

Ya, most likely. Worth a go though.

If you are in the US and fancy an RP server then I'm on Kirin Tor US server - Level 61 Paladin (alliance), Level 31 Rogue (Alliance) and level 15 Mage (Horde) and with a good guild called Knights and Weekends.

Can help you out anytime I'm on if you get one on this server
