I'm not sure why but #metroidprime has a weird quirk added to it: whenever you want to charge your beam, it first fires three shots.

Maybe there was an attempt to make it easier to fire rapidly, but it adds an unncessary delay to activating your charge. Not looking forward to Phazon Mines as a result. There the charge shot is essential next to using it to quickly pick up power-ups.

On that note, the original's rapid missile firing is sadly also absent in this version like it was in Trilogy.

Just a couple of things that bothered me while running through Orpheon.

In some damp corners of the Internet people are apparently screaming about Samus' new head model not looking enough like whatever Gamergaters think women look like this week.

Wat.

Echoes was a hard mode for Prime veterans sure, but jeez, it was not bad by a long stretch. That's Corruption. 🙃

Corruption wasn't bad either. Worst of the three, but when the other two are so good that's not such a bad thing

Prime 1 is forever my favourite, but Echoes has an incredible oppressive atmosphere I've not felt in another game. And Sanctuary Fortress is astounding.

Yup, my thoughts exactly. Echoes wasn't bad at all, just had a bit of a Data Disk for experts feel to it, like "Oh No, More Lemmings Metroid" or something. That did result in a bit less atmosphere though, and the whole evil-version-of-Samus thing was already tired after Metroid Fusion.

Although in retrospect, it was the thin end of the wedge in terms of people talking to you in cutscenes. It was only one person in that game, but Corruption was like a bloody soap opera, at least until I abandoned it. Just leave me alone with my thoughts and your logbooks, the nearest thing I should see to humanity is my own reflection in the visor.

I 100%-ed MP and MP2, but couldn't get on with Corruption at all.

Can confirm that leaving the main menu music looping for a few hours is still as soothing a soundtrack as it ever was.

It’s one of the best game tracks ever for me. Somehow the menu music for MP2 is too! Wonderful soundtrack.

I take it as a given, but has this got full 5.1 surround support and all that shiz? I'm installing some new speakers at the weekend and reckon the sound design in this will be the perfect game to Christen them.

I'm weak so I just had to download the digital version. Luckily I still had €25 left in Gold Coinage so the total came to about €15. I'll be double dipping on the physical version in the next few weeks.

John from Digital Foundry reckons so. It sounds great either way.

Honestly, the work that's gone into the visuals are on par with Bluepoints remakes of Demon Souls and Shadow of the Collosus. Let that decide how much you want to spend on this. For me, it's enough to spend close to 60 euros on it.
