Thank you, you’ve saved me crumbling and buying digital. Ordered with my huge 60p member discount 😀.

Just a couple of things that bothered me while running through Orpheon.

In some damp corners of the Internet people are apparently screaming about Samus' new head model not looking enough like whatever Gamergaters think women look like this week.

I think it's by design - particularly for some of the more 'pew pew' enemies at the end.  You can get a nice steady pew going with a rhytmic press of the button now rather than trying to mash fuck out of the thing.  I've already been disposing enemies that require 3 standard pews with one button and it feels goood.

I can't settle on either dual or hybrid.  Dual lets me really look around the rooms and appreciate the design more... but hybrid lets me do really fast enemy locking for swarms and just feels more 'metroid prime'

Guys, nobody gives a fuck you have a plastic box on your shelf. Just end your misery and get the download.

If I buy it physical the kids can both play it on their respective Switches.

If we go digital I’ll end up having to buy it three times!

Multi switch household = buy physical wherever possible.

Select Dual, then go to the Camera options and turn Gyro controls on. Best of both worlds.

I’m a huge advocate of physical games, but are you sure that’s the case, assuming you have internet all over the house.

yeah that's what I've been using - still can't clear out those swarms as fast as I can with click-click on the lock.  I suspect I'll go back to dual

Yep. Shitty Nintendo account system for eshop titles.

Kids each have their own Switch with their own profile/account.

To use games bought on my account they either have to login as me on their Switch (and overwrite my saves for that game as a result) or they can only play on their account on my Switch as it’s where my account is registered as home (and trust me I am not letting them destroy my joycons and screen, you should see what they do to their own!!!).

If there was only one of them then I could set their Switch to be my home  machine and vice versa and then we could play as long as online but that doesn’t work with 3 accounts/machines (actually it’s 4 as the wife has one too but she’s unlikely to be too bothered about Metroid Prime, or indeed anything aside from Animal Crossing and a certain wizard game).

On Xbox as long as the owning account is on the machine and online any account can play games belonging to it (although the owning account can’t be logged in and playing elsewhere at the same time so still not ideal) but not so with Nintendo.

The family membership only shares online access and the expansion pack games, sadly it doesn’t share your whole library with another device.

Just had a watch of one of the many comparison vids versus the GC ver, god damn the Switch version looks lovely!

(and I’m sure the GC version wouldn’t look as bad as it does in comparison on a nice CRT as @dataDavehas said previously)

Based on the fact they've remastered just the first one, do we think that they'll do 2 and 3 as a swan song for the switch in the next few years?

IIRC, the rumour/leak was that that was the plan until Retro got put on Metroid Prime 4. If we get 2 and 3 they'll be more basic apparently.

I would get this as it looks lovely, but I could never get past Ridley when I played on the GC, I have the trilogy unfinished on the Wii and I have hit a similar roadblock in Dread with Z-57.  I love exploring in the Metroid games, but I have never finished one

This is good isn't it?

Shows how good a game is when I recognised most of the first level from 20 years ago. It's stunning. I did get stuck back in the day at one point but I reckon the new controls should help with that a lot. I guess I'll find out.

It does have a ‘casual’ difficulty.

Can’t you just left trigger click-click?

I don’t think it’s been adjusted beyond the controls. I reckon they could have done with speeding up the scanning speed. Waiting for the little bar to fill is tedious.

That’s deliberate though… some bosses take ages to scan and you’re vulnerable while doing so

Thing is, I loved the original, apart from the fact that the boss battles were horrendous difficulty spikes, a problem that its sequel unfortunately suffered even more acutely from. If they’ve adjusted the bosses just a bit to sort that issue, it would be an almost perfect single-player game.

(Have to admit, at the moment, Metroid Prime 3’s probably the favourite of all three for not having such a sharp frustration factor.)

I have bought it anyway, like that was ever in question, I’ve also preordered it. What have I become.

I did have a £25 Amazon voucher given to me by work, and a few Gold points, split only cost me a couple of quid.

Feel guilty
