I'm going.

It says Clark, Feedle and DJ 4D on my ticket. Are they likely to be good?

Also it apparently ends at 3am. Is it likely that Battles will play earlier than that, and someone else be on afterwards, do we think?

Feedle is brilliant. The closest musical reference would be Four Tet, but with more 'noise'. He contributed massivley to the first 65dos album, so you should get a rough idea from that what to expect.

Clark will be ace, as ever, I've never heard of DJ 4D, but also worth mentioning that Tired Irie are playing. Everytime they get a mention anywhere different bands get mentioned as reference points: started out as White Stripes meets QOTSA, but the flyer for the gig I was given cites them as 65dos type glitchy-math-rock. They've got a MySpace, though I can't be arsed to link to it.

Oh, I never posted. Battles were amazing. Incredibly tight live. They all put so much effort in as well. Obviously the drummer works very hard, but the amount of stuff the other guys were doing and getting it spot on was equally impressive. I bought their record too. It's a very nicely packaged double album.

We got there too late for the first two acts, but heard good things about Tired Irie. I did regret not getting there in time for them. Clark was fucking terrible though. His live drummer was good, but Clark himself seemed to do almost nothing and it was really quite dull. It summed it up when the drummer stopped playing for about 10 minutes. He just started chatting to Clark, and they proceeded to have a long conversation which was only interrupted very occasionally by Clark leaning over and pressing a single button before getting back to talking. And the music was dull. In short, he needs to work out a way of playing live properly or just not bother.

But yeah, Battles, superb. I like the record but wasn't expecting them to be quite as amazing live as they were.

don't worry, tired irie are nothing to write home about.

My initial thoughts on seeing battles live:

1. Why's that cymbal so high?

2. OMG they're both playing keys and guitar AT THE SAME TIME!

3. awesomeawesomeawesomeawesomeawesome!

Chris Clark was quite shit in Leeds too, it's the first time I've seen him with the live drummer and it's the first time I've seen him put a poor show on so maybe there's a bit of a rethink in order there.

Battles were hamstrung by a totally inept soundman and/or technical problems, they spent an hour soundchecking and it still sounded all wrong. Stylus doesn't have the best reputation for acoustics in the first place but despite all that they were still excellent, as well as slightly camp and homoerotic. I loved the comment from one of my mates about their civilised dress sense, "That drummer looks like he's just come from a fucking picnic."

Here's the villain of the bloody peace:

My thoughts exactly too. I saw them at ATP on Saturday and they were amazing, an incredibly tight unit. Impressed by how much live sonic manipulation went on, looping up vocals and the like.

I'm sad to say I couldn't get in.

Zero tickets on the door. Touts wanted £40, so we figured we'd hold off till the last minute... sadly we held off too long and the touts fucked off before we got back.

We spent nearly two hours in some pizza shop watching Bucks Fizz' Cheesy Top 50... It was compellingly terrible.

So pissed that I missed them... Two bloody bands have been on my need to watch list for over a year now, these and Guapo, I've seen neither.

Thanks for replying in my Guapo thread - you would've been the only one. Oh, the humiliation!
