Rock Band!

Nah, they'll have thought of that.

Hopefully they'll have realised that there is a bit of a problem with the Mystery Setlists in Rock Band 1. When we were doing World Tour, I actually considered deleting Blackened, Perfect Drug and Blinded By Fear, just in case they would come up on Expert Drums. (At least I can 3-star Blackened and BBF now, which is nice, but I've still never made it to the end of Perfect Drug.)

Major props to EA(cant believe I just typed that)

Rang on Friday to inform about my broken drum pedal, got home yesterday and my replacement had arrived. Well happy. I'm gonna use my ghetto fixed one until that goes again though.

What did you do to fix your original one? Unbelievably, mine's bearing up still despite the pounding I continue to give it on daily basis, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it goes.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for stopping their drums migrating across the floor? I'm fine on the slower songs but I definitely find myself pushing the drums away from me on anything that's got silly amounts of pedal action.

Used the advice on Youtube and gaffer taped 2 butter knives to the underside of the pedal which is now sturdier than it was originally. As for the sliding, we bought a new rug for the living room 2 weeks ago. and by placing the front legs on there my drums no longer slide forward

My replacement pedal also arrived. No props to EA. I spoke to a horrible man/woman in Canada presumably who kept going "okayyyy" at the end of each sentence, going up really high pitched. I went through 5 minutes of listening to complete bullshit pre-recorded "Guilld-ford" bollocks and then 20 minutes spelling out my name and address over and over again. It was farcical, I spelled my name out again and again and each time the weird cat-lady/man came back with a different spelling. The lag on the phone call fucked it up really badly, with the alien on the other end of the phone interrupting me constantly.

Anyway, went away for 8 days, came back, no pedal. Rang again, same person (use that term loosely), queried it, said they'd check it out. Week later no pedal. Called again, got a real sounding person, they still did the "Okayyy" thing, she explained that the first person had put the order in the wrong queue so it never began processing. Then she asked me if it made any difference whether the postcode was in lowercase or upper case, "No" I said, "It doesn't matter". Pause..."Ok well I just changed the postcode anyway". Fucking dicks, seriously, they could have provided them with some basic fucking training in UK place names, FFS. Yeah, I live in Chickenham rather than Twickenham. Dicks.

It finally arrived yesterday. They spelt my name wrong.

Pretty much the exact opposite of my experience, some great guy (Jody I think) on the phone, who must have had the short straw and was working July 4th. But he got my name spelt correctly, and the address, and its not an easy to get correct, what with the Welshness of it.

stiffy skills

Also, you should try Black Hole Sun on expert, too. I couldn't remember it being a massive step-up from hard and it's good fun.

Black Hole Sun on Expert is incredibly simple until you get to the solo.

I think for that section I was down to something like 60% while 100%ing the rest of it.

- No more band leaders and any character can play any instrument

This will save a lot of faffing around as I currently have three characters called guitar, drums and singer, which I make my friends choose to save everyone having three characters.

Now all it needs is some Iron Maiden

Why ring? My pedal broke last Tuesday, reported it on the website on Wednesday (which took around 18 seconds) and had a replacement on Friday. [/craigdavid]

I think the steps all make sense to be honest. The challenges will mean you dont spend ages having to unlock all the songs but will still be tiered so you can figure out how much challenge you want to give yourself. I really hope GH4 does not go down the unlocking all songs route, by now with DLC I think the whole idea is completely redundant.

All I ask is less mystery setlist and more choose your own setlist in world tour. Also the chance for longer setlists would be nice, 3 songs is a bit short if your going for a full gig type scenario. Just a shame I'm waiting till November for this one.

It was easier to dial the number - or so I thought.

Seriously though, my experience was only so incredibly bad because they have employed someone it was almost impossible to understand and who couldn't understand me. Communication is pretty important eh?

I've no doubt in most cases they would be pretty decent.

Here this game aint half bad is it!

Spent hours playing yesterday, guitar is awesome as usual but the drums fucking hurt like shit using the pedal. My legs were killing me last night. Couldn't get comfortable with it, was always awkward for me to use. Really takes a lot of concentration for drums but I'm hoping I'll still get better!

Where though is the best place to buy the noise dampening pads for the drums. As it is ridiculously noisy. Do they reduce the sensitivity of the drums by using pads though? Advise me please!

I don't think they reduce the sensitivity to any noticeable degree. I got mine from Rockbanddrumpads.com but you might as well go to Gamestation?

Your leg will stop hurting soon, I now keep my foot pressed down on the pedal until it needs to be pressed.

The feeling of going from uncoordinated no rhythm spaz-monkey (like me) to actually competent enough to tap a beat is just awesome.

I had to take mine off my EL kit in the end. They seemed fine at first, but eventually they wore down a bit and it really seemed like it was becoming less sensitive. I noticed a huge difference once they were off.

Make sure your stool is set up in the right position. I've noticed that when I have people round to play, they often sit too close to the kit, and you should also bear in mind that a normal dining chair is too low by a good 2-3 inches.

Check this video out:

It's Flo Mounier, the drummer from Canadian death metal band Cryptopsy, talking about foot and hand technique, including where he sits relative to the bass drum pedal. All good advice that does apply to Rock Band drumming too.

The section on stick technique starts at 3:17. Again, it's worth trying to emulate this technique as it will prevent pain in your hands/wrists/arms when playing for a long time.

The gist is that the faster you play, the less your arm and wrist should move, until you're playing very fast beats when it's basically your ring fingers doing all the work. This guy is one of the top drummers in the world so you won't get as fast as him any time soon, but at least it helps see what to aim for. :(

I got the official branded ones for £14.99 in Gamestation. They're great. I do find they reduce the sensitivity slightly, but only towards the edges of the drums. As long as you hit the drums dead centre (which you should be aiming to do anyway, it's good technique) then the pads won't cause any dropped hits.

Displays a bit oddly in firefox, all the questions you have to answer are a fair scroll away. But fine apart from that.

I already had one, it seems to use the same as either FIFA or Burnout did.

Does that work for people who've snapped their own pedal? Silly question maybe but I can't find the right question to answer for "It's snapped right down the middle you bastards!".
