WOOOOOOOHOOOOOO Finished it! :o

Man that was tough, just left the bass pedal out of the tricky section and focused on getting the Y - RY - R - RY section perfect, saved my star power til later on which gave me lots of wee breaks too as it kept trying to make me use it.

Finished it with 79% and 107 note streak. So happy!

oh i hate them , i cant get my head round them at all

If it's an offbeat kick where you've got a pad before it, try to consciously keep your foot pinned down until you hit the pad, then press your foot. That made it far easier for me as it lets me know when I can use my foot before it going to pot.

If it's a pedal before a pad, I have no advice for you :o.

I'm still not perfect so this may be of no help or extremely bad drumming technique but to start with on the off beat things my problem was still hitting the pad when I didn't need to. I kinda developed this thing where I still did the action of hitting the pad but stopping it from connecting either by pulling my arm up or just doing the movement less, which is gradually starting to become not moving at all. Still can't help following through on the double pedal hits sometimes tho but it's getting less often.

I often do a half movement of a hit. I bet I look like a right numpty playing some songs.

Cassidy, I suppose you can try the opposite of the Pad-pedal offbeat. As in keep your arm up until you hit the pedal :o?

Find a song that has this offbeat and start it up in practise mode. Start at 50% until you're comfortable then shift up 10%. Rinse and repeat. It really helped me for songs like Vasoline and Detroit Rock City on hard.

To be honest, I often feel like I'm hitting the pad and putting the pedal at the same time, so I'm not sure I can help at all :D.

Nope tried that and I did it in practice fine get to the song then mess up. I have Detroit rock city left along with Go With the Flow on the same tier.

Vaseline was tough but mainly due to the main beat being so difficult.

Exactly, it's a test of stamina. A crap, boring test of stamina.

:D

I love GG&HT on expert. So good at lulling you into that false sense of security with all the repetition, then changing the pedal sequence a tiny amount to throw you off. Nailing the fast section with all the blue hits is awesome too. :o

Been playing for 8 months now + no intention of stopping anytime in the next few years!

There is though 1 factor to take into account - should you wait a few months + get rock band 2 with much better instruments? I will definitely get the new drum set when it comes out, but that's ok cos it'll let me + a friend play offline drum score duels + tug of war. As much as I love the game I would say maybe you should wait, to get a drum set that will not break + isn't noisy as hell could be worth the wait on it's own.

So much hate for GG&HT :o

Not here, it's probably my favourite song on guitar, and I don't mind the drum or vocal parts either. I can't vouch for how much of a step up it is on medium on any of those, but it didn't seem too out of place on Expert; Reptilia and Go With The Flow are far worse beasts for that in the drum career.

I'm with Ryanski there, my drums lasted 44 days before having to be sent off to be replaced and the game is so good I've been sorely tempted by the Game+Drums set every time I've gone into HMV or virgin etc to tide me over while I wait.

I'd wait for the supposedly sturdier instruments before buying, especially because you don't yet know what you're missing out on

Play sent my replacement BIAB today, typical that with our holidays here parcel force won't be delivering it til tuesday. :o

But tuesday is my birthday so it'll be a nice pressie.

DJ Knight - if you happen to have a guitar hero guitar I would recommend getting the game on it's own.

Gentlemen 150 pounds is a lot of money to me, with other things getting in the way ie mortage, council tax etc but I do feel i am missing out. So my question is will I regret it if I decide to invest in Rock Band tomorrow ?

If you can't afford it wait until Rock Band 2 comes out. You'll either be able to get the first one cheap or you'll be able to get (supposedly) better instruments.

And you can like, save up for it.

Thank for the advice chaps, how much is the Drums plus game edition going for as I assume I can use my GH2 guitar ?

I think it's £100 for that set. Not great when you can get the strat + mic for £30 extra. If you're gonna get drums then make sure you spend more funds to protect your drum pads + kick pedal from breaking to avoid heartbreak!

That's the thing about the new drums, the pedal will be metal which is ofcourse what they should have done 1st time round, but also the drum pads are said to be very quiet + of a much sturdier build to withstand the hardest of hits.

Go With The Flow on Hard is a complete and utter nightmare. Not so much the main beat or the second beat, if you see what I mean, but the transition from one to the other always catches me out. It's an absolute dream on Expert, IMO.

Anyway... I was just trying to create some fills in my head so I play can play something slightly coherent before the crash, and wondered if there's any way to get the fill lanes up on their own so I can try some stuff out? I know there's the bits before the songs, and I suppose I could start practise mode on a song with a massive intro and stick it on 50%, but it's not really the same thing.

Can't get past Flirting with Disaster and Green Grass on Hard guitar. I have gone from being really proud of myself for having a fucked arm and managing to play any songs at all on hard, to cursing the bloody thing for not working well enough to get me through these last 2 songs. Fatigue sets in before I get past halfway and it's doing my nut in.

It's so close I can taste it. I might start out on expert on the first tiers and see if it speeds my fingers up at all. Damn these 2 songs :)

Practice mode - song with big rock ending. I think Foreplay/Long Time has the biggest. Obviously just select the start end section as that last part, and slow it down as well.

Right, I'm at something of a crossroads. The Rock Band guitar is hacking me off, I don't know if it's fucked or if the batteries need replacing or what but I was playing like a spanner tonight, and it wasn't all my fault. I've defended it in the past but I'm beginning to think the GH Explorer would be nice to play with. Thing is, that means buying 360 drums, game and GHII. It's a preposterous notion but I'm sorely tempted because the guitar portion of the game just isn't giving me any satisfaction. Course, it could just be that the batteries need replacing and all this is redundant.

Just had another 3 or 4 attempts at beating my GG&HT score, but keep on dropping silly notes near the end. Given up for tonight though as I simply can't manage the quick middle section anymore, my arm is so tired! :)
