Does anyone else get little hitches in this every so often? I'm wondering if it's the cache or whether it's just the engine. I'm running it off the hard drive and sometimes when I'm wandering around the game will pause for about a second and then carry on. I can't see any real pattern to it, sometimes it happens quite frequently, other times not so much, it happens indoors and outdoors. It doesn't really affect the game but sometimes it's a bit annoying.

Hasn't happened to me at all, that I've noticed.

You see near the Hospital in DC

where there is a ICBM in a big crater

is there any point going down, any good loot? cos I tried to and then couldn't get back out and died from radiation in about 10 seconds.

Nothing of any worth there, no.

I've still never used my Fatman.

There's so much of this I've saved for the DLC. I can't wait to stick my teeth into it (The game not the Nuke).

On my first playthrough I barely touched it because I was always saving the mini nukes in case I really really needed them. On my second playthrough I waked my stats up on Big Guns and Explosives and would use the Fatman whenever I saw two or three Super Mutants standing together. The explosion's effects and sounds are awesome.

yeah, happens on mine every so often. I also get 'lag', where I'll be at a going through a door or whatever and suddenly bounce a few paces forward at once. I never get suprised by enemies out on the wasteland because you can hear the dvd drive ramping up

stupid xbox <_<

I've never noticed these at all... I did get a lot of hangs and crashes when playing connected to live but they've seemingly stopped since the upgrade and the HDD install....

On another note, I'm considering doing another playthrough and I wanted to do it a bit differently but I honestly can't think of anything worth spending my points in instead of small guns, they seem completely invaluable, at the start of the game you hardly even get any laser-type weapons or heavy weapons so I'd surely have to spend some on small guns or I'll just get bum-raped everywhere I go...

I purposely specialised on my initial playthrough and still now have melee at about 30 or something and melee only at 40-50 odd, I don't really want a general guy but not sure what to go for, has anyone not put a lot into small guns? Does it work?

I didn't put a single point in small guns, or any combat-based skill for that matter (until later on when I had nowhere else to put them). Yes, I got raped at the start, but it was worth it. Made the wastes feel really dangerous. I could still shoot to kill if the need arised, but I'd lose a lot of ammo, so I had to really pick my battles. Made even a random bloatfly encounter really tense and exciting. I also didn't put anything into sneak because I didn't want to become Mr Invisible simply by squatting, which was what happened to me very quickly in oblivion.

From what I've heard on this thread though, you get raped at the start no matter what you choose, so either there's a bunch of whiny bastards on here, or it doesn't make that much difference.

I see some brief pauses when exploring the wasteland sometimes, nothing close to a second but noticable, mostly as a couple of frames skipped. I generally do a quick spin at that point and find a red dot on my radar so I'm assuming it's the game loading the enemy model into the world. I treat it as early warning.

Melee is a great choice at the start, as it frees you from ammo constraints. You get shot up slightly more, perhaps, but you don't have to worry about running out of ammo and as long as you can repair stuff you can keep your favourite melee weapon in very good nick.

This game is incredible. Coming straight after Fable 2 (traded for this) probably inreases that feeling. Just so much of note. Moseying out of megaton and checking out the local school shit me right up, and that was right at the start. Also going into the minefield, I went into the first house on the left. Absolute silence and nothing but talk of ghosts to keep me company, as tense as hell. Despite the fact

there were no ghosts. Or bad guys apart from a sniper dude. Just so much atmosphere

It didn't happen at first, but now I get pauses of up to 2 seconds sometimes. It's when an enemy spots me. I'm guessing it's the point when that enemy's AI switches on.

I've also had one freeze. I remember both Morrowind and Oblivion got buggier and shakier the longer you played them. Perhaps as the save file has to hold more and more complicated information, with the more effect you have on the world, it all starts to get bogged down. I don't know.

Also, dammit, I got stuck in some rocks. I couldn't teleport away because "enemies are nearby". I couldn't wait for the enemies to go away because "enemies are nearby". The radscorpions couldn't get me. But I couldn't aim at them either. sigh Reload.

With Oblivion it was always worth clearing the cache on the 360.

Maybe this will sort out any pauses. I'm just starting to get them so may give it a go tonight.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but if you'd got the PC version, you could've just typed 'tcl' into the console. You couch gamers never learn :)

Thanks for the clues about Rockopolis. I gave up after over 2 hours of searching over the past few days and went on the Wiki to find out where it was. It's safe to say I never would have found it without looking it up online - it's crap if you ask me. Would be fair enough if there was a clue from a character about where to start looking, or if the entrance itself was more obvious, and actually somewhere you might wander on the way to somewhere else!

Only got a few map locations left to check through now, this saga is nearing an end at last.

From memory (having not seen him for 30-ish hours), I'd say mine is a bit thinner in the face, as is my character.

Hard to tell with the beard, though.

Actually, the lack of various proper beards (not goofy novelty ones) annoys me a bit.

I'd have one like my dads, but have to settle for either heavy stubble/light beardage, or grizzly adams.

Tbh, PES'09 gives you more options for character looks in terms of head/face hair.
