I did it at level 6 and didn't have many problems with it.

It does completely break game balance at that point, really because

you don't need power armour training to wear the T-51b winterised camo suit

. And the

Gauss Rifle

is really really powerful with a modicum of energy weapon training things. Even at skill 50 it was a one-headshot-kill for pretty much everything, at long range.

I'm totally split between; parking it for a bit and playing something else

or just ploughing through the main quest line and getting it done and out of the way.

I'm level 16 now, many more sidequests and I'll just hit the level cap, I'll just be "wasting" XP won't I? (if you get my drift)

Try giving it up for a bit. Chances are it will pull you back anyway, but better that way than by forcing yourself to play it. I had a day off and when I went back it felt really fresh again.

Yeah probably do that...

But I'm determined not to abandon this, I will come back... I don't want another Oblivion hanging over me.

I completed it. I'm a bit gutted I can't get the 20 bobblehead achievement because I missed the Medicine one which is now unreachable. Can't get the speech challenge either as I've run out of dialogue as far as I know. Only leaves the custom weapons which I will make during the times I just have to go back.

At the moment I'm seriously contemplating starting all over again for the neutral/evil paths and getting the last 2 achievements.

I started again for the evil stuff too. It's a natural reaction.

Also missing the medicine bobblehead? Noobole0n, clearly. :eyebrows:

Yeah, it's a bit stupid. I did get it in the PC version but when I checked the stand today on my Xbox save I saw it wasn't there. And I can't get back in Vault 101 because the unthankful hounds locked me out after I solved their problems for them :)

Note to self: when I return as evil, I will leave a mausoleum behind inhabited by Death only.

Anyway, I clocked up 128 hours on my current save which isn't too shabby. Maybe I should take a break and play some other stuff.

In what I can only assume are the initial symptoms of Achievement whoring, I want to get more trophies for this game but just can't bring myself to act like a jerk for a sustained time to lower my karma rating for the neutral & evil ones.

Is there anything I can to quickly lower my karma just before a level up & get the trophy, but then just reload & carry on being my normal, tree-hugging virtuous flower-child self?

Stealing is a relatively easy and safe way to lower karma, just like giving purified water to those drifters is an easy way to boost it.

Hmm. Stealing is something I could probably live with & maintain a neutral Karma. I could play the part of a lovable rogue with a heart of gold, like Han Solo or possibly Sly Cooper. :)

F1.

Jesus, what is this, amateur hour?!

Yeah, fuck's sake Rob. You're a good poster. But that doesn't change the fact that you've made loads of alt accounts, and I can't let that sort of thing stand here. I guess it's a bit familiar. You've already been forced out of the forum once before. At least now you know what's out there.

I'm sorry. You don't know your Fallout... and you have to leave.

Despite saying I was going to play something else, I couldn't abandon her - so I returned to the bosom of Fallout 3.

Did Rock Creek Caverns last night, it was just some slimy caves (ala Oblivion) but it made a really nice change to not be exploring ruined buildings and metro tunnels. Been allowing myself to get sidetracked a little and I've picked up two more sidequests, which has renewed my interest.

I know I sound like a schizo but I think I will see this through properly to the end. I'm never going to explore every location and find every bobblehead - I'm just not that sort of gamer.

Went to get FEAR 2 with some HMV gift vouchers I have left over from Christmas, and then saw this going for 18.99.

2 hours in and 9 days off work. :(

I envy you just starting out. I've got nine days off, too (half-term) and DQV comes out on bloody Friday! Boo, hiss, etc.

Other than not finding them? Nah.

They just sit about like other in-game objects so Its just a case of finding them in the right house/room, etc.

I'm surprised I haven't found any yet, are they very well hidden?

I've got no missions on the go at the moment. I love just exploring, currently headed south from Vault 101 and all that area.

The most obvious one is -

Theres one on your dads table in the medical room you can pick up while in vault 101 ~5mins into the game just before you take the G.O.A.T. test

And two you really only have '1' chance to get and thats it.

I ended up using a guide for some because of one of those two.

Just started this this evening, seems promising so far, even though I'm still in the vault. VATS system seems really good, and the slo-mo effects are stunning. Haven't taken the top of anyone's head off yet though, like I saw my missus do with it a while back...

One question before I carry on though. It seems like I can pick up loads of tat - coffee mugs, clipboards and the like. Should I keep picking this kind of stuff up, or is it a waste of time?

Waste of time at the beginning. It becomes apparent later on what some of the tat does/what it's used for so don't clutter yourself up for now.

Personally, I've hit the doldrums with this again. I caned the living fuck out of it and now I can't be bothered to progress the story because I'm bored of talking/looting/listening to the same 5 voices over and over and over.

Also, it brings out the worst in me. I wanted to kill every motherfucker in Tenpenny Towers, and the go and kill the Ghouls for good measure because both sides annoyed the living daylights out of me. I didn't in the end.

I dunno, I think I should chop it in and get it again when I've not played it for a while like I did last time. It really is an amazing game and oh so compulsive, but it doesn't half wear you down.
