The best thing about this, is that I'm reaqding this and I haven't got a clue what your talking about.

Bottlecap?

I do want the knight armour thingamybob though. They're the one group of people I'm yet to open fire on because I just got the impression that their version of 'retaliation' was going to be like god parting the clouds and 'firin ma lazah' on my skinny arse.

Oh, and what's the best way to kill those hermit crab type things? they're as hard as fuck.

Mirelurks? Always aim for the face. Absolute pain in the arse until you level up quite a bit. See also, Radscorpions.

i think whoever wrote that was talking about bottlecap mines - you can find a schematic to build one if you have a lunchbox and a couple other things, and they do pretty big damage.

From my experience; Get Operation: Anchorage out of the way ASAP. It's a chore, but you get some really excellent loot from it. It's saved my ass a few times since I'm a bit over leveled for where I am in the plot. From about level 16, expect to run into Super Mutant Overlords, who are super tough - so I'd advise getting a lot of the DC downtown quests out of the way quickly, before you're running into them round every corner like I am. The loot from Op: Anchorage helps though! :eyebrows: As does a certain item from The Replicated Man quest if you opt for the nobler path.

Other than that, just make sure you keep a few different saves, and save often, since it screws up a hell of a lot.

Cheers for the info. When you say get operation anchorage out of the way, i assume its a place i can travel to?

Yeah, the loot from Operation Anchorage changes everything.

I don't know if it's a bug or not, but my winterized power armour and helmet were in totally mint condition for the duration of the game, never needing to be repaired once - back of the net! Also, did anybody else find the Gauss Rifle leaving a lot to be desired? Like, being in any way functional outside of VATS? That shit pissed me off, at least until I picked up the Alien Rifle from Zeta, and then the vastly superior tri-laser rifle from a Super Mutant Overlord.

So yeah, finished it last night, in what was a surpisingly hurried and anti-climatic ending for this sort of affair. It's been one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had - right up there with Panzer Saga, Shenmue and recent Persona games - but I'll be damned if it's not messed up in some really fundamental ways. I installed all the DLC prior to my playthrough and managed to reach level 29 before I'd even finished the main game (god knows how you lot must've felt wandering the wasteland capped at 20 for so long) and now I'm met with the prospect of turning 30 before I've even enjoyed the climes of The Pitt and Point Lookout.

Not good.

Neither was I particularly pleased with being unable to walk in a straight line without involuntarily juddering past level 18, or the half-dozen other bugs which affected my playthrough...but, it being so awesome in many other respects, you kinda have to doff your cap to Bethesda and let it lie. I'd happily ramble on for another half-page trying to explain why, but I've already bored myself stiff writing this, so it suffices to say Fallout 3 is awesome, that I hope Obsidian take all the criticisms on board for New Vegas, and that everybody should play this game through at least once.

END.

Shit, now I can't lord that one over you :(

That is the only reason I came into this thread. :eyebrows:

I should probably bust out the Winterized T-51b armour, but the Chinese Spec. Ops armour is so much fun! I've stopped using energy weapons for the time being since they were making everything much too easy. I'm having fun taking out SM Overlords with Jingwei's sword though. SNEAK ATTACK CRITICAL! I'm thinking about making a shishkebab and unlcoking the pyromaniac perk for Melee funsies. I can't really remember from my last playthrough, but doesn't it hurt you when you wield it?

Has Tesla Armour been bettered since all the DLC? I'm about to do the Waters of Life, and I'm looking forward to picking some up again. :)

it'll be on your map to walk to once you install the DLC, and in your quest list so you can select it and see the direction for it on your compass.

i'm not sure i'd advise you to do it first thing on your first playthrough, though. i find the first hour or so of the game pretty tedious so would suggest that once you're done with that you spend some time exploring before you dive into the anchorage quest. don't necessarily want to do all the boring stuff at once, at the beginning, before you've experienced the awesome to get you hooked.

Anchorage isnt that bad! Its an amusing diversion, bit of a break from the standard game with plenty of shooting and stuff. Nowhere near as good as Point Lookout, but still enjoyable.

As for the loot - you dont have to use it, you know. I found it very useful, mainly cos I had the difficulty turned right up.

Picked this up for a tenner and am completely and utterly in love. First "big" game I've played in a while now, and all the usual signs of addiction are present such as staying up until 3am on a work night etc.

Having loved Morrowind, but not Oblivion for some reason, this really seems to have nailed it in every area. The combat is great, the environment is fun to explore, it looks fantastic (although disappointed at the lack of rain), and there is always something to do. I find it quite upsetting in parts (just did the Tranquility Lane section and found it strangely creepy, and finding the skeletal corpses of couples who died in bed together is horrible), and yet the game somehow retains a sense of humour.

It also has the most satisfying Level Up fanfare ever.

Yep, that's the buggers, preference of weapon?

I found in the early levels that the shotguns were great, let them get close then use VATs to pump them with lead in the face. Also, it's pretty unlikely you'll hit at low levels but sniper rifle with VAT works well too. Grenades and frag mines, if you can find them.

In fact, a general tip for low level players - level up your throwing skill because frag grenades can really save your life, especially against humans/mutants. When you find heavily armed baddies that whittle your health down in an instant, a few frags usually does the trick, and if they don't kill the baddies it often causes them to get critical hits on limbs. Just always use VATs, and if you miss, it's still likely it'll detonate nearby and injure them anyway.

Jesus piss a kidney I'm getting anhilated. More news when I can remember where I am, I'm still looking for the mueseum of science but I can't find the bastard.

That's a pain, you have to go via two subway stations or something, or cross no-mans land in the central strip of DC which is full of super mutants and you will die.

I really hate these Tenpenny Towers people. I've done the "best" solution, but I really wanted to set the Ghouls on them. Still, I've got a little present for one of them from Paradise Towers...

What I thought was the "best" solution wound up with everyone getting slaughtered by the local ghouls. I stil lfeel bad about it.

:(

Operation Anchorage is a bit wank, eh? I wish I'd done it before Broken Steel so I had the mondo awesome armour.

I persuaded everyone to accept them moving in, except for the people on Tenpenny's list who I just managed to persuade that the Ghouls moving in was inevitable

That seemed to do the trick, except that Susan Lancaster has now moved out. I was looking forward to Mesmerizing and enslaving her.

Awesome game, it's more addictive than Nuka Cola Quantum.
