Fallout 3 - Official Thread

Quick question - is it worth playing on hard rather than normal? Eurogamer seemed to say it's a bit easy.

You've got to be kidding me, this game is batshit hard early on (especially if you don't use quick warp). Keep it on normal, its only mean to get easy when your uber powered at lvl 20 - so maybe then knock the difficulty up (which can be done at any point).

The Rock-It launcher. I remember this being mentioned a lot before release, but, I've not seen anyone who's played the game mention it at all. I thought it sounded ace. A gun you could stuff random objects and debris into, to use as ammo. Has it not actually made it into the game? Or, is it there, but it's just no good and not worth mentioning?

It's there as a blueprint, but it's rather expensive to buy.

A mate of mine said that, once you got your levels up, you could pretty much walk around doing what the crap you wanted. Are we looking at the same thing here?

I bought the swanky lunchbox edition for the 360. It better be good, I'm basing my purchase on how much I liked Oblivion.

I just did exactly the same, lunchbox edition, basing it on how much I liked Oblivion, but prefer more modern settings for games like this.

Im gonna open it now. Joy!

What kind of character is everyone playing as so far? I'm quite tempted to try out a few different types but at the same time don't really want to play the first hour or so another 2 or 3 times just yet to try them out.

Any recommendations whats been fun for you so far?

I've currently got a small guns and melee based character who wants to be nice to everyone.

I also just had my legs blown off when I went into minefield. Are you suppose to be able to see the mines or not? I don't think I saw any when I went kaboom

Mines:

yes just look carefully you can see them. They look like.. well, mines and you can deactivate them by clicking on them with the A button. But be quick, they have a short timer. After that you can pick them up and use them yourself!

Woah, just noticed.

Well I guess it's no longer a pre-order because it's out?

It's like "Been posted" you're "downloading". It's coming. Same thing! Make it so.

I'm finding it very easy on Normal so far, but it may be because I know what to expect from Fallout, i.e. it's a good idea to pile numbers into small arms early on.

Quick question though, can I heal up for cheaper than the 120 credits it costs at the saloon?

I just started this. My fears have initialy subsided. This feels like a true RPG in the Fallout sense. And the graphics... so much better than Oblivion technically.

One question. Why do my AP always show 12/123 for example? Is there any way that they can be manualy replenished? I really can't remember how it worked in the first 2 games.

Jet

will replenish it for you. I thought it did it automatically though.
