This game is fantastic, very atmospheric. I love the fact that so early in, you've suddenly got this decision on your hands. I've been trying to decide whether or not to

blow Megaton to kingdom fucking come

for ages now. I've been doing some side quests and still can't decide!

Alhough I might just do it to give that religious dude his wish, whilst sparing me his repetitive rantings!

Oblivion comparisons: From a technical standpoint - sure, it being essentially the same engine, so things like conversations are basically identical. But there are times when it's absolutely nothing like it. Mind you, perhaps I was bound to love this, my Oblivion character stands at over 240hrs playing time.

I am strangely hooked on this.

By the way, as for the house thing, you have another way of getting it:

You also get one for doing the honourable thing, and nuking the idiot-infested shithole. A nice penthouse in tenpenny tower, as well as 500 caps, which is a fair boost early on. Oh and a really good 'cinematic' bit. It was quite funny though, my main reason for doing it was that Moira Brown bint (which was my Gran's maiden name, oddly enough) was pissing me off. Stupid twat survived the blast!

I like being a grand bastard in games like this, and you can REALLY be one in this.

I started playing this at about 7.30 last night and didn't stop til 1.30 am. I've done the bloodlines quest (I think - the one where you have to find that girl's brother). One interesting thing - I accidentally went into the armory in Megaton during the night and got called a "commie bastard" by the robot-thing, which then chased me out of the shop. I managed to escape out of Megaton while being shot at by the robot and a few angry citizens. I thought maybe I'd have to get arrested "Oblivion Style" to clear my good name, but I just went for a wander in the wastelands and when I came back later all seemed to be forgiven.

Anyway, I'm hopelessly addicted, but I think it's gonna be Sunday before I get another go on this.

So to get a house I need a quest to defuse the bomb?

Mr Burke asks me to arm it. I presume the Sheriff wants the opposite. Sadly, I grassed Mr Burke to the Sheriff. When he tried to arrest him, he got a bullet in his back and died for his troubles.

Same here.

Seems the medic is marginally cheaper than prostitute and bed.

Sigh. If the sheriff's dead then talk to his kid instead. You people give up and walk away from a quest too easily!

I'm totally into this now after a shaky start. I'm really loving just discovering shit and having a good old explore.

Just got to

Rivet City

Though the soundtrack can get a bit repetitive but I bloody love Back Home by Bob Crosby a spring gets into my step every time it comes on!

How did you get there? Did you go overground

from Museum of Technology

or use the underground?

Think I went too direct into this game, may be worth going back and doing a few sidequests I think, I am running around with little of everything, barely surviving.

I am a bit of a hoarder too. I am too scared to sell many things because I am positive I will need them at some point :)

Amazing game that will keep me going for weeks and months (only get 1-2 hours a night 3 or 4 times a week to play my 360 now days.)

I calculated that in the first 30 hours of ownership of Fallout 3 I went to work for 8 hours, slept for 7 and spent 10 of the remaining 15 playing the game. I'm now off for a week. I'm going to complete this game rapidly. I'm not sure I want to. :)

I played this for 5 hours last night and I'm loving it,on thing though

I had to look around the super duper Market, I went in, looked about, killed all the raiders in there and then headed back to to the girl who'd sent me there (for her book). When I spoke to here, if I told her I'd been there, I had to lie. How come when I had been?

Did you collect the food? And there's medicine too.

Apparently I need to spend time with my son :)

I want my missus to go and visit family for a weekend so I can just sit here in my pants festering and playing Fallout for 40 out of 48 hours :)

Within a relatively short walking distance of Vault 101. I'll check my map later.

I stumbled across it walking in a straight line from Megaton to Areyu (is that what it's called? Where Lucy wants you to go, anyway).

Damn where do you find the person who will learn you to wear the power armour. Its doing my nuts in running around near galazy radio trying to find the place.

Have you checked the stats? It's not even good apart from the strength boost, and unless you're a melee character strength isn't all that much.

Those of you searching for vault 106, just head

2 blocks north and one block west on the map from vault 101

I stumbled across it ysterday and spent a good hour or so exploring. Finding little places like that is just one of the many beauties of this fantastic game. Still havent got dogmeat yet though.

There are beds and mattresses all over the places if you look for them. Abandoned houses, trailers and there are at least two in the supermarket outside Megaton.

The shooting part of this is great. I now have 60+ points in Small arms and I killed a wild dog in two shots from the top of a freeway, the distance was so great, I could barely see the dog. I only noticed it using a V.A.T.S scan. This was in real time which seems more effective at great distances.

I also shot a rad scorpion from the same place, it took a few more shots, but the cool thing was that the scorpion just wandered around look for whoever were shooting at it.

God, I love my hunting rifle. I have a proper scoped sniper rifle, but for all purpose wilderness survival, I'll take the hunting rifle every time.

This game does the whole "pack your gear and head out on a hike"-thing better than any other I've played.
