Also - I hit "a" during the loack picking tutorial. How do I do it? :o

I did that too, just hit escape (or your console equivalent (start?)) and go to help, it's about a dozen pages on.

Anybody know if there's an Oblivion-style "wait" option? Always found it handy for when you got to a shop but it didn't open for a couple of hours.

There totally is, it's 't' on the PC.

Rotate your bobby pin, and then rotate the screwdriver. If the screwdriver starts putting force on the bobby pin, you need to move the bobby pin round more.

Imho opinion this is so far the best 'simulation' of lockpicking in a game. Yet another aspect that Fallout 3 does much better than Oblivion.

I think the game really suffers at not properly explaining things?

Can someone explain to me - what does Radiaition poisoning actually do :o

If your rad levels are too high your start to black out, the screen goes all funny. I am not really describing it properly thus you should experiment and drink lots of dirty water and watch what happens.

Yeah I think I have broken 3 pins so far, opened 50+ locks, it works very well.

And every time I play it it gets better.

Cant even stop long enough put Fable in the drive, bloody hell.

There is an early quest to do just that.

The last time I played them really is when 2 was actually released so apologies for not remembering it correctly

No worries, the Fallout games rank in my top 10, so I tend to remember the quite well. Fond memories of playing a blind (minimum Perception) martial artist, running down enemies and kicking their eyes out.

Ah. I get it now. It's fine to be shit if it's a sequel to a shit cheesefest.

Wash your mouth out :o

I'm waiting for F3 to come down in price before trying it - sounds far too much like Oblivion for my liking, even with all the gushing reviews. Still hopeful, but for now I'll save my money for Mirror's Edge and Rock Band 2.

Well five hours in with this and still fannying about Megaton.

Sheriff tried to arrest Burke, Burke kills Sheriff, I kill Burke and I end up with a key to armoury. Hmm, says I, I'll go top up some ammo and be the new sherif. Robot in the room switches on flamethrower. I run out of room, game autosaves, town surround me and kill me. Last save before that was an hour before. So everytime I respawn the town surround me and kill me

Cunt of a brown game.

Think I'll trade it in.

Really? :o

Damn, I watched videos and thought it looked stupid (a nuclear bomb launching gun? WTF?!), but I guess this isn't the chilling, gritty STALKER/Mad Max game I was hoping for.

On the contrary, I was finding the game a little cheesy until I turned the radio off. It made me realise how excellent the music is, particularly in a sinister building. Very unsettling, and I was actually scared a couple of times, especially when a super mutant came out of nowhere! I've found the radio irritating to be honest. Threeeeeeeeee dawg!

I fear I've made the game too easy for myself now, piling numbers into small guns and repair, and carrying the hunting rifle, assault rifle, machine pistol and combat shotgun, along with having the scrounger perk, means I'm ultra powerful from any range with stupid amounts of ammo. It tends to go like this: kill man, take gun, repair current gun with said gun making it better, collect more ammo than I killed him with, carry on.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong but this game tries its best to hinder exploration for me.

Just left Megaton and went exploring to some parts west, which a Lady informed me of (I assumed the game telling me to explore early on meant that I was quite ready). Even if I was not though, there is no way to tell how hard the enemies are... anywhere. It takes too long to kill people, so I can't hope to tackle super mutants. Scorpions eat away my ammo and even with my assault rifle I am left with no ammo or stimpacks after one or two encounters. I am upgrading small guns, science and speech mainly and I thought that would be enough early on, but it's really not. This is starting to feel a little too much work for someone who doesn't go mainly for gun abilities.

Shall I continue to the main quest where it is -theoretically- more balanced?

Yeah this happened to me as well. Was the point I turned it off last night. I've got a proper save not too far back, though.

How do I get to the Tepid Sewers? I'm over by the GNR building plaza.

If you select a quest as current it shows you how to get there on the world map. You'll often have to use the underground, sometimes more than one station too.

Rummage around in all the confusing streets and underground until you finally make it an inch closer on the map. Rinse and repeat.

DC is the worst area in the game for me. It's tedious to navigate and forces you through the crappy underground most of the time.

You don't have to go to the Tepid Sewers btw, you can just whack any old mole rats you find around the world

I am a little baffled as to why people aren't liking it's 'look'. I think it's very atmospheric, and totally fitting alongside the games premise. The clue is in the name!

I especially like wandering around in the Wastelands at night. It's quite scary.

I was loving this but the quest seem to just go on and on, it slike they are dragging them out to extended the game. Take the letter one ive went to the town knocked on the doors and now cant fucking find ian or whatever his name is alot of fucking about for one little side ques.

Tiny spoilers (a couple of locations mentioned from first 5 hours of the game):

How on earth do I get to Rivet? I just spent two hours in the Capital Building thinking I could go through the other side and head south, only to come out the north side again. My Dad's waiting and I'm stuck in the Mall.

Help please!

Side quests are a big part of the game. How good would it be if the quest was go to Arefu, where everything is just great, hand the letter to the family and be done with it? That sounds fucking shit.

How do you get to the GNR plaza? I've tried the Farragut Station that is meant to be the one to get you there and looked everywhere. There's one door that requires a lockping skill of 50 to get through, is it through there?

It's so frustrating trying to navigate through DC

Cheers for the reply earlier mintstrels, I though as much.

The navigation is a pain, in all honesty. There's several times I've been right beside somewhere on the map, and unable to get to it because of something blocking the way in - usually something that wouldn't really hinder you in real life with just a little basic climbing skill.

That's actually a pretty good side quest. I got a very nice perk as the reward for that one.
