I like Three Dog.

.::: Let's put it this way...

He should apply at EA Big.

[edit] I don't like the too close looping radio-chatter with the repeating openers and closers but it's well done; the thing I was referring to earlier is mainly his personality when directly talking to him. That breaks a bit.

In Oblivion couldn't you just press the B button to cancel the dialogue if you had exhausted all options? It's a bit of a pain in this having to scroll down and keep choosing the ending option.

I have to say it hasn't hooked me the same way Oblivion did at the beginning. I think a large part of that is the flatness of it. You can see too far and it loses that sense of excitement as you scaled a large hill or made your way through some woods wondering what was on the other side.

Still early days yet though and I'll be sticking with it.

Enjoying this a lot more than Oblivion so far and was getting pretty engrossed in it all until hitting a rather jarring moment in Megaton.

Early spoiler:

I accepted the quest from Burke to blow up Megaton then dropped him in it with the sheriff who proceeded to arrest him or tried to as Burke killed him :/ So far so good, however, no one in the bar made any reaction to the killing or the dead body now on the floor or indeed me looting the corpse. It didn't improve when I went in to the sheriff's house, spoke to his son and by some weird logic he already knew his father was dead, or at least he did in certain dialogue trees. Not the end of the world obviously (LOL) but pretty annoying all the same as up till then the dialogue and everything had been spot on and done a pretty bloody good job of immersing me in the game world.

Still, the dialogue and characters aren't driving me insane like they did in Oblivion after an hours play so that's good and the setting although pretty bleak is far more appealing.

I'm enjoying it so far. Only an hour or so in mind you.. just wasted the guys at the Super Douper Mart. The first time I tried something was there attacking a raider ... it came after me with something that fired blue lines ... first shot crippled my leg, second vapourised me. Seems a little unfair to let me meet something like that on my first foray out of Megaton. Fortunately it wasn't there when I loaded my save and tried again.

An hour? Took me ages to get there!

I'm liking it more, after sticking with it. Just put on fable and it seems so scripted, so forceful...go here "BANDITS". Quest "KILL BANDITS". My wife is wanting to divorce me and I can't get back there cos the bridge is out, yawn.

Perhaps I'm just getting annoyed with games!

Scientific Pursuits

Are there working metro in this? On the Scientific Pursuits quest my map keeps pointing towards Farraguy West Metro Station and it then shows a direct line to River city including under the river. But I have no idea what to do once I get to the station

Follow the river south and you'll eventually come to Rivet City.

That's the way I went. I'd follow the guide markers. I found it worth going through the stations for the experience and that. Once they're clear, they're clear. I guess you can go around the city as an alternative but you'll be uncovering a lot less places.

Spent about three hours doing a side quest today. Triggering the quest was so convoluted and easily missed, and yet the quest itself and its rewards for finishing so well done.

I thought that but if I head towards the city then my map has a line from me backwards to the station, and then from the station to the city. Is there no reason for that?

I had this problem too.

The map marker can be a bit crap sometimes, I ended up going underground and making a right mess of it.

Following the dots and asking the map to show the objective helps.

Forgotten the name but you get in in the Underworld next to the History museum by doing the following:

In the back room, where the doctor is, there is a patient in the corner. Press A on her, and the doctor speaks to you. You then either have to succeed in a speech check to convince him to revive her, or have quite high medicine skill. Reload if you fail the speech check. When she wakes she gives you the quest. The rewards are great, and in the mission itself you get tonnes of stimpacks and ammo (make sure you talk to her about the ammo before leaving).

I love how those little extra bits of corner searching can often lead to massive rewards.

I've grown to love fable's breadcrumb line more after wandering around for ages hunting the Family (the mechanic of following the quest marker? with it flashing more as you near your destination? *only* explained in a one liner in the manual?).

This is just as forceful - go to point A, kill whatever gets in your way (or explicitly don't kill it), choose good or evil option - repeat.

Quite liked the bit before meeting three-thingy though; and you can completely skip his quest.

Getting better and better for me. After visiting the Super Douper Mart,

and cleared the raiders out, I hacked the terminal and got access to their safe room, giving me loads of of goodies. I was still gleefully rifling though all the boxes when I heard the rest of the raider gang announce they were back / realise someone had broken into the safe room. Unexpected and worked really well

That was one bit I really liked. Once I'd cleared the original lot out I had actually gone for a nap on one of their sleeping bags, I felt like Goldilocks.

Anyone found out what's going down at Arndale? it's obvious they're all cannibals but they wouldn't attack me - not sure what's going on.

If you are talking about Andale

I stole the key to the safe off one of them and when I went out to check it thats when they admitted they were cannibals

And going on...Getting pissed off with this now.

The difficulty is all over the place. (Normal). You have no idea what you'll face down each hole (e.g. it might be a Mirelurk you can kill in 2, it might be a Mirelurk you can kill in 15)...this is severly limiting my desire to explore. It seems to me it would have been far easier/safer to just max out my sneak.

The VATS system while interesting/cinematic, doesn't properly mask that the combat is weak.

Where the fuck is Walter? Guy asked me for scrap and he's gone. People are generally hard to track in this - you can never guess where they're gonna be.

Quests...I don't know, but the number of quests seems highly lacking. Take rivit City. They'll all talk about a lot, but ulitmately nothing seems to come of it.

I'm am SO bored of dark, dank, underground grey concrete.

I think I'll finish it, and prob do a fair few quests, but it'll be traded soon after. Does it do some things better than Oblivion? Yes. But it seems to do more things worse. It's a 7 or 8 for me ATM

I like how much of the stuff you see turns out to be unexpected. Like randomly pillaging in some shop, only to come out and see

3 guys wandering down the street towards me, only to find out that they're bounty hunters after me because I'm naughty.

Those things work well.

I'm so in trouble later on then :( I think I broke in to everyones rooms at Rivet City and stole stuff. How many Project Purity Personal Entries are there? I only seem to have 3.
