The old Man Utd Thread

Cantona was described this way as well.

Yea, but Cantona was the player of a generation..s. so worth taking a risk on. Those don't come about very often, plus the circumstances at the club are very different now.

sack the board!

so, it was uniteds fault, rather than citys effort?

Better finishing we'd have got something. Vidic hit the woodwork, tevez went agonizingly close twice.

Fair play to city tho, great defensive effort. That's three times we've been frustrated now. How refreshing to have sven say they were lucky, too. Bastards.

You'd be better off getting Teddy back, he'd not cost much and would do a job for two months.

We could get Andy Cole back too and Dwight Yorke will probably be looking for a new club after his shocker for Sunderland at the weekend. Actually I wonder if Rafa fancies swapping Heinze for Peter Crouch.

Now you mention it, I kinda like the thought of that happening

Anyway, Sir Alex should sell Heinze to Liverpool ASAP to fund a new striker. I couldn't see him getting in the team ahead of Riise, so what does it matter? Better to have Liverpool paying his wages only to discover he's only ever free of injury when there's an important Argentina game on the horizon.

where's all this talk of a new striker come from? hasn't fergie already said there'll be no more spending this summer?

Well the fact we've only scored one goal. Plus all of our strikers are injured. Tevez on his own isn't going to get the goals we need.

So, yeah, the disappointment has dulled a little, there's a few things to take from the match.

It's pointless me banging on about a striker, I've done that for long enough.

Hargreaves. Looked excellent, fantastic debut. I always thought he was a good player, but had doubts how he'd play with Scholes and Carrick. The formation yesterday with all three worked great I thought, and I like it. It didn't stop us getting down the wings, we linked well and were creative. I'd chuck Nani and Tevez out mind, with Rooney and Ronaldo in their place. If it came to it, I'd possibly swap Giggs for the striker that's badly needed, though this'd force Rooney out wider. I imagined it'd be Carrick that was dropped, now I'm not so sure.

Nani. He's so infuriating, it's Ronaldo all over again, isn't it. I think Ferguson and Queiroz will drill the over elaborance and no final pass out of him like they did Ron, but it can't come soon enough.

I think Evra was hacked down, and it should have been a penalty. Last man, and from behind, City would have been down to 10 men. I think this was a massive mistake by the ref.

How the fuck did Tevez miss :(

Well, it's being heard today so I'd expect a decision by the end of the week.

It's probably the usual paper talk, but apparently he was being hawked around Europe for less than what Scouse offered.

To think I thought of him as something of a cult hero. The little twat.

I dunno, Giggs seems to be the only player who can take corners, cross or provide the killer pass (along with Scholes). He created more chances than anyone yesterday I think, he could easily have had several assists if others had been more clinical.

I don't agree. I may be biased (1-0 get in!) but when I was at the game it didn't seem like carrick was doing that much. Hargreaves was first class at the back which allowed carrick to push further forward but he rarely seemed to contribute in the way that scholes did ie. in an all over the pitch way.

yeah, martins is a good striker but doesn't this seem like desperation? why wasn't this wrapped up ages ago like all our other transfers if it was what we need?

another think i don't like is the way rob styles has been banned. i know he made a disastrous decision for the penalty on sunday, but what about the ref we had? i think evra getting taken down in the box was as much a penalty as chelsea's wasn't, but nothing gets said about that.

That might not be such a silly idea. You just need someone who can play half of the games for a couple of months, that's it. Another perm signing would leave you with too many forwards on the book.

Once Ronaldo's back, you're back to having a top quality forward line.

Shame you sold Rossi, if he's really as good as we kept hearing.

Heinze can't join Scouse, say Sky Sports News.

:(

Now fuck off abroad you disloyal twat.

Shame you sold Rossi, if he's really as good as we kept hearing.

On the basis of the reserves and Youth Team stuff, he looked utterly magic. Didn't see him in Italy, but the stats spoke for themselves. He should have been kept until Xmas at least. Whose to know Rooney and Ron would be out, but he knew Ole and Glass Legs would be. If he comes in and doesn't make an impact after that, fine, get rid. But to sell without being given a chance...

Surely the right decision with Heinze, why should Man utd have to sell to Liverpool if they don't want to? He has a contract with Man utd doesn't he? so if they don't want to sell him or don't want him to play for a certain club then that's up to them.

I'm sure this happens all the time, maybe the clubs don't come out and say so but it must go on.

Normally a club would say there's no point keeping a player who wants to leave, especially if there's £6.8mill on the table but he's hardly causing a disruption to the club so fuck it, the way I see it Fergie can sell when he wants and to whom he wants.

Heinze owes the club a lot and I'm really disappointed in him with this whole affair. He's quickly gone from loved to hated amongst the fans, and I personally would rather be rid of him now for little money rather than having him at the club against his will with a face like a smacked arse. Spoilt brat.

It does, but I think it was reasonable going into the season to think that Rooney, Tevez, Ole & Saha would do. Now we have one of those four available, and he's not properly match fit.

As for Heinze, if he wants to go to Merseyside, let him: sell him to Tranmere.

I'm glad someone has finally stood up to a player and told him 'fuck you, you're not going there and if you're going to get in a strop about it you aren't gonna play for us either, you're just gonna stay here until your contract runs out and then you can fuck off unless I decide you can talk to another club if anyone is interested in your sorry ass!'

With the current transfer fees it's hard for a club to do that because they would lose a lot of money by telling a player to shut the fuck up.

In a way it would have been good if Arsenal had told that cunt cashley he aint leaving and he aint gonna play for us again he can turn up once a week and collect his wages and then fuck off and keep doing that until his contract runs out.

Totally not practical I know, but would have been superb.
