The old Man Utd Thread

It wouldn't happen but I'd love it if they benched him for the rest of the season.

Fergie's interview on MUTV is much more damning of Rooney. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play again unless he decides to take Ferguson's olive branch.

I'll tell you what, this one hurts more than Ronaldo, than Beckham, than Keane, than Tevez. Wayne Rooney will face a fucking shitstorm if he ever sets foot on the Old Trafford turf again. I am absolutely furious. Disloyal, ungrateful cunt.

For realz. This feels like a right stab in the back to all the fans and the club. And WHY?! Surely he will have to come out and actually state a reason soon enough.

Our attack hasn't been the problem this season really. We've scored 2 or 3 goals most games. It's been our inability to hold onto a lead. Obviously it'll be a huge loss and a massive stab in the back for Rooney to leave but it's the midfield where I'd say we have the biggest issues. Will we actually invest the money though? :(

It's a kick in the balls whichever way you look at it. If he goes in January he probably won't get played between now and then and if they leave it until summer we'll have to put up with his lack of interest and petulant attitude.

Plus, nobody of his caliber will be bought to replace him, just like the way we replaced Ronaldo with Valencia. United are finished for the forseeable future in my eyes and I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see another Prem title or Champs league for a good few years.

I think I might start supporting City!

Um, perhaps not a welcome comment in the United thread, but I assume you weren't too bothered about his lack of loyalty when he jumped ship from Everton.

Oh yeah We're done. Because Ferguson knows that Rooney was the player to build his last great team around. He's the player that would have ended up as captain, would attract other world class players ( finances permitting), and a talisman for the team.

It was because of Rooney that Fergie wasn't overly distraught at losing Ronaldo, because He knew it was Rooney time to shine and he stepped upto the plate last season.

The Glazers are in a right pickle now, they havent got the money to invest heavily, so We either get another young unproven striker who costs less than ten million, or the old standard- "We're happy with what We've got". Either way We're buggered.

Ive supported Man U for a long time, (I can remember re-enacting the 1977 Fa cup final- Im that Old), and I cant recall a situation like this. Rooney has absolutely kicked us in the teeth, and if he goes to Man city then I can see riots at subsequent derby games.

Thing is, Rooney will only want to go to a club playing European football, but noone will buy him in January cuz he can't play for them. So that means it'll be the summer before he can leave. By that time I expect him to have gotten over the strop. If he doesn't then we must get a world class striker to replace him, hopefully in a player plus cash deal with someone like Benzema. If we don't replace him with a world class striker I will personally burn the Glazer empire to the ground. (Must be a shed in a car park by now.)

No one will buy him because he can buy out his contract under article 27 and go on a free.

It doesn't really hurt me, just like it doesn't hurt me that John Terry will never play for the club, even though we could do with his defensive qualities right now. I might have felt differently before the World Cup when Rooney looked like a world class player and his revolting personal life wasn't splashed all over the front pages, but I'm not Colleen and I don't need his money and fame to survive. I'm over the bald cunt already.

What hurts me is that Roy Keane still has to take every opportunity to exact his revenge over how he was kicked out of the club when I still want to idolise him.

I hope he goes in January just to piss EA off.

So if he doesn't go in January, he can buy himself out in the next window?

As is my understanding. I think he could have done it this summer as well, which is odd if he decided he wanted to leave then as I've seen stated. It'll cost him about 5 million or so.

Jon, you've not done anything to paint yourself in any other light than a glory hunter over the last few days.

The City comment was a joke, man!

Seriously though, how have I done that? All I've been saying is that I'm massively unhappy with the way the club is being run at the moment and I will not give my support to a bunch of fuckwits like the Glazers. I've been tolerant since they arrived, believing Fergie's lies that everything was ok, and Gill's lies that there's 'money in the war chest', but the way we've performed this season so far it's become painfully obvious that we're in a terrible state.

Of course I want us to win trophies, which is something I'm sure everyone wants to see their club doing, but we're being so badly mismanaged these days that I don't see anything than a massive fall from grace for the club which I've supported since being a boy.

So, it's not about glory hunting at all. I'm just gutted that things have come to this and we've all been lied to for so long. I'm not such a blind follower that I'll put up with anything. Life's too short and I've got better things to do with my time these days.

But is he realistically gonna buy out his contract? I doubt it.

Why wouldn't he? Would a club pay 40 million for a player in January who can't play in the Champions League when they can pay nothing for him in the summer and give him 250K a week in exchange?

Definitely! This beauty the other day cracked me up:

Jesus, we are a mess at the moment, aren't we? I've really lost interest in them this season, as I think they're fucked.

God help you if you supported a lower-league club. Mid-table mediocrity... oh, the humanity!

Is he that much of a knob though?

More than likely. I think the moral of this tale is, never sign anyone who can't wait to stab his boyhood club in the collective back. He kissed that Man U crest in front of Evertonians. He fucks clubs like he fucks OAPs.

I wonder if Jon was the United-supporting mate that the angry Grimsby Town fan moaned about in one of his rants. On hearing of Grimsby's desperate plunge towards non-league, he said something like "I know how you feel, it's like when we didn't win anything in 95"

Prick.

My other club is Rochdale, so don't talk to me about mid-table mediocrity. (although I do admit, they've been pretty good value the last few seasons).

:hat:

If you're going to justify the comment by saying it's because of your anti-Glazer sentiments (and with good cause - on the other hand, saying you're losing interest because of a 2-2 draw with WBA isn't quite as noble), you may as well just support Rochdale instead of them being your 'other club'. In fact the whole notion of an 'other club' is pretty ludicrous, but that's another rant for another day.

Actually, I don't even know why I give a shit who you support. Never mind.

The draw with West Brom was just another nail in the coffin, not the sole reason I'm disillusioned with them at the moment. Read my other post up there and you'll see the reasons why.

What's wrong with supporting another club anyway? I was born and raised in Rochdale and it was the first club I saw play, so they're always going to have a special place in my heart. United will always be my team though no matter how much I bitch and moan about them, and regardless of what I say to the contrary I won't be able to help myself but watch them when they play. Oh, the joys of football eh?

Rooney wouldn't pay the 5 mill to see out his contract, the other club would.

I'd say that's a very real possibility.

Having seen the way United unsettled Berbatov, practically making him go on strike at Spurs, I'm glad Rooney's doing them over. You bloody deserve it :D

Let's face it - every club wants the best players and manager they can get, and don't give a shit how much they shit on other clubs to get them. Unless you're at the very top or very bottom of the pile, it's swings and roundabouts. Sure there's Berbatov for Spurs. There's also Bagpuss.
