Whats happening with Gary Neville at the moment, I was under teh impression he would be back from injury in no time but it seems ages since he last played and doesn't seem to be getting much closer to it?

I just have a feeling he won't play for ages if at all

This is a serious problem a long term successor for Nev - not just a great RB but we need a new leader on the pitch more in the Keano mould, after giggs/nve who do you see being the new captain ? Certainly not Rooney or Rio ?

Apparently he is over the operation and it has been a success but has picked up a calf strain as a result of his body compensating for the ankle injury. Or something like that.

It does, but I think it was reasonable going into the season to think that Rooney, Tevez, Ole & Saha would do. Now we have one of those four available, and he's not properly match fit.

Really? Were Saha and Solskjaer ever going to be fit? Meaning Ferguson effectively went into the season with just Tevez and Rooney and neither of them are really a natural striker.

You had scoring issues at the end of last season too, this isn't a new problem.

I liked him a lot when he arrived

We all did. I have his name and number on the back of two of my shirts. Then we discovered he was a lazy coward who doesn't want to fight for his place. I'm considering adding to my shirts to change them from reading HEINZE 4 to HEINZE ARGENTINE 4 LAZY.

It seems that Lyon really want him but he is turning his nose up and just wants Liverpool

It's madness. How Man Utd can turn down an inflated fee for a player who doesn't want to play for them is beyond me. Fergusons stubborness belies belief. If Gerrard turned round to Benitez tomorrow and said "Fuck you all, I want to join Chelsea", I would fully expect Rafa to sanction the transfer.

I seriously doubt that he would. Just look at the Cashley Cole saga. Ultimately I think the only reason that went through is because Arsene perhaps knew that Wayne Bridge was his equal and that he wouldn't be making Chelsea any stronger in doing so. Liverpool and Man U, above all others are brands at the end of the day. You don't want to do something that will harm your brand and strengthen others.

You could put it that way. Or you could say that he's a lazy git who doesn't want to fight for his place because there's a whole one other player fighting for that position too - Evra.

Pretty much, but he'd have had just as big a fight for the position with Riise at Liverpool, so I don't know why he was so desperate to go to Anfield in the first place.

I agree with Marzipan Travolta.

You generally speak sense but I think this is a tad to silly. Liverpool would only let Gerrard go abroad (if he wanted to leave).

You're on crack. It's not like there aren't going to be other clubs offering as much if not more for him. Real Madrid, for instance. And Liverpool > Chelsea is a very different proposition to United > Liverpool. Do you honestly think your board would let Gerrard come to OT?

It's no coincidence that the clubs haven't traded in 45 years.

I'm not sure any other club will give you £6.8 million for Heinze that Liverpool would have. The difference with Gerrard is that's no secret that he has no love for Man Utd.

As I said before from a footballing perspective I don't particulary want Heinze at Anfield but I still maintain it would have been a good deal financially for Utd.

You hardly think that Heinze is the missing piece in the jigsaw that will 100% ensure that Liverpool will win the league?

I don't think so. Liverpool's top players all got new contracts this summer. The three that didn't - Riise, Crouch and Kewell. I'm not sure Benitez rates Riise too highly as a left back.

Erm, short memory? Gerrard wanted to leave and Real was his preferred destination but they didn't care so only Chelsea were in for him and at the last minute he decided he wouldn't be able to take the stick and stayed.
