The old Man Utd Thread

The game had no flow. For two attacking teams, they didn't string too many actual chances together. I think the ref didn't really let the game flow either, and was too quick with his cards. I would've taken a point beforehand, but I wish the game had been more entertaining.

Carrick I thought was pretty good. Fletch was very varied though, he's been a bit crap for a while now, I'm not sure what's the matter with him. I hope we sign Schweinsteiger or Rodwell over the summer, because when a player needs to have a break to get their head together, we have no-one to come in really. There is not a great deal of rotation happening in some areas of the squad, particularly central midfield, I don't think it's affected us massively, but it's a tightrope we're walking on.

Don't think we got a decision all day and the ref got so much wrong, but that wasn't the reason we didn't win. The red is a total joke, utter bullshit.

We all know Vidic and Ferdinand are fantastic and have been for so long, but it's days like today that just reminds you how good they are. I thought Carrick did well defensively and dropping in at the back at times, going forward he was pretty poor like the rest.

Don't think there was anything wrong with the team or the way it was setup today, the forward play just wasn't good enough. The last few seconds summed it up, looks promising and gets so far and then fizzles to nothing.

I missed the game (and highlights) but the return to form (and fitness) of Ferdinand and Vidic has been massive this season. They look absolutely immense again and with Evans looking good against Liverpool and Smalling playing well we really are spoilt in that area.

I'm slightly disappointed that Ferguson didn't stick with Anderson as he and Carrick seemed to be getting something going a few games back and it's been chopped and changed since. Hopefully he'll start the next game though.

Has there been any news on Cleverley coming back? I know he got injured and it seems to have gone quiet since then. Any chance of us dipping into the transfer window as well? With a few attacking players injured, out of form and just plain old I do wonder if a half decent signing could be just the thing to spur us on to the title. Sanchez has been mentioned a few times and he does have a release cause in his contract.

You'll see when Valencia is back Rooney scoring more.

We don't really need another wide player as Park would be covering at the moment if it was not for the Asian Cup.

I just think the central midfield is a massive concern - however we have the answer Hargreaves but obviously cannot play. Paying him 50k+ as well as Carrick and Scholes, then signing another midfielder does not make sense atm. We will have to wait to summer to see Sir Alex's plan!

Defense has been magic and I just hope that we can push on when Valencia and Park return in Feb with the CL.

Improper conduct charge brought against Rafael. What's that, a 3 game ban? I'd guess so, it's make an example of United time again.

Out of interest if he does get fined or banned, or likely both, I'm interested in the discrepancies. Rooney was worse and got a yellow. End of matter. How do they figure that this is worth more? But, yeah, Rafael is the only player to ever argue with a ref post a decision.

This shit is nothing new you only have to look at Ferdinand being done last season on video evidence for an elbow, yet the same thing wasn't done when Gerrard did the exact same thing. Who was that Championship player that fractured another guys skull intentionally, did anything ever come of that?

I'm sure the manager will see all this as an injustice and evidence it's us against the world. You hear that all the time from the manager and the siege mentality hasn't done any harm in the past, get the feeling this'll be used to the teams benefit. I liked how the papers wrote their stories post red expecting a Fergie post game explosion, and when it didn't happen they thought fuck it we'll run the story anyway.

Or just play Rafael and say it's Fabio maybe.

Ban Evra for four games too, BTW.

Babel got a 10K fine for his charge of improper conduct, so who knows what Rafael will end up with?

What's a 10k fine to someone on 40k+ a week?

Rafael would probably have loved to have had a 10k fine.

I guess we'll have to wait and see but I can understand why some United fans think the FA is against us due to dealings with them in the past.

Well, for a start neither of his yellows were fouls. For the first one he got the ball. Yeah, his foot might have been a bit high, but that's where the ball was. There were no studs showing and there was no malice in the tackle. For the second, it was an accidental collision as he ran across the back of him. Again no malice and no intention.

I'd be pissed off and probably shout at the ref in his situation. The FA should be examining the ref's performance above Rafael's, as he's the only one who fucked up on the day.
