Good. So who negged me for saying Rooney played shit then? I'd love to know why they were so offended by what I said, because as far as I'm concerned he was practically useless for us today and he should have gone instead of Berbs.

He was referring to this post

Well, that was gay. Sometimes I don't even know why I bother supporting a team that loses.

in which I'm pretty sure his tongue was lodged firmly in his cheek. Anyway Jon, why are you bothered? You can't give a shit every time you get negged.

Ah yeah, I must have missed that one!

Anyway, I'm not arsed about the neg, it's not like it affects anything. It's just that I'd rather people post a response if they disagree with something I've said, rather than just clicking that little pointless button. I don't come on here to keep score, I come on here to voice my opinion and read others.

I feel sorry for Anderson, he has a decent run of games followed by a shit performance alongside Gibson and then gets dropped for Fletcher, who has been poor all season. The team was absolutely crying out for someone to carry the ball in the centre of the park so instead we just have our entire defense, Scholes and Fletcher pumping long balls up front. Fucking horrendous and bringing off Berbatov was borderline retarded considering that Hernandez's best performances have been with him.

If Arsenal or Chelsea can show any kind of consistency then the only way we have a chance if winning the league is if we get knocked out of the CL. In fact i'd rather we get knocked out now than make a complete fucking hash of games we should have won easily like last season. Which is exactly whats going to happen. Even the thought of watching another Carrick/Fletcher pass getting intercepted makes me want to do a massive facepalm.

It's rare I agree with Jon but the entire performance was cunting awful.

It's not got to that point yet for me, while it's a shambles, Arsenal only drew yesterday so the damage inflicted was not to bad. Sometimes I think losing can be quite good for a team, it gives everyone a kick up the backside and the timing could be perfect at the start of February. It puts more pressure on us to win in the big games against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool, however those games were almost must win anyway.

Sid Lowe on Twitter says it was for the Madrid youth team coach.

Can't believe I haven't made a Munich post this year. I've hardly posted at all in this thread recently and it slipped my mind to say something in here.

Was thinking about Duncan Edwards earlier today. Such a shame there's hardly any footage of him available (on YouTube anyway). Love the Bobby Charlton quote about how Edwards was the only man to make him feel inferior. Incredible that the survivors and loanees reached the FA Cup Final that year. Touching coincidence too that Nat Lofthouse, who scored both Bolton goals that day also passed away recently.

February 6th 1958. A tragic day we should never, ever forget.

This I really don't get, it's bordering on knee jerk.

The manager thinks 84 points will win the league, I think it will be less. Anyhow we have 54, which obviously is 30 short or 10 wins. City can only get to 85 points should they win every game, Chelsea 83. I don't think they will win every game to reach this.

I think we'll definitely win 7, maybe 8 games. Home games are most definitely this teams strong point and we have Bolton, Fulham, Everton and Blackpool that I think will be 3 points. Everybody bangs on and on about away yet nothing is made of the home record. Had VdS not made a blunder as bad as it was rare it'd be a 100% record. How many times have you read that statement?

Away to Wigan, infact any game against Wigan, we win. West Ham another I think will be a rare away win. Newcastle and Blackburn away aren't easy, but I think everybody would say we'd be favourites to win them. That doesn't necessarily mean we will win but you must say there's a better chance of that outcome than any other.

That leaves the team needing 6 points from 5 games. I know that everybody loves to tell us that we're so bad that we'll definitely get beat by Chelsea twice, Liverpool and Arsenal but I don't think it's so. Will City even try an beat us or go for the 0-0 with 8 defensive midfielders? We've been atrocious away from home many times, The Midlands has been a disaster this season for performance. 1st half Blackpool was the most inept and pathetic thing I may have ever seen with my own eyes from a first choice Utd.

Arsenal, they can get 89 points. Have they been so brilliant that they will only drop 4 points to get to 85? On paper they definitely have an easier run so it's possible. Then again they're playing in so many games in all competitions, have Stoke twice and away games at Blackburn and Bolton. They too have to face the Scousers, and you know what, we're a good team too and may just give them a game.

In short, we're favourites for a reason and I don't see the bookies going out of business any time soon.

Just a bit, I slammed the laptop shut so hard at full time the mrs thought someone had been shot. It was kneejerk but I just can't shake the feeling that we're going to throw away more points. It's not like our away form has just been a bit inconsistent or anything, it's been shite and has shown absolutely no sign of getting better.

I hear you Phresh, this team is far from convincing. But like I said that home record is as good as the away is bad. Do you think we'll lose every game against the big teams? I don't. As tricky as Newcastle away and Blackburn away are I'd have bitten your arm off if at the start of the season the deal was play and win both them for the league. WHU on paper could be tricky. Relegation battle, away, previous history, etc. But seriously that lot are shit I don't see them having the discipline or heart to outfight us like yesterday.

Talking of yesterday we lost because we where total shite and deserved to be beaten. That said they should have been down to 10 men, O'Hara should have had a second yellow before he was subbed off. It would possibly have been harsh given the foul was in our box and wasn't made with malice, but it was a definite yellow. He was seemingly replaced to prevent the further card. Had the ref done his job they'd have had to of played over 35 minutes with 10.

Not really a complaint as such given they deserved to win but it's interesting how little has been made of this in comparison to say Neville V Stoke, or that United get every decision. Rafael was sent off for far, far less.

Thanks. Now, have you got anything constructive to add?

I'm not referring to anyone in particular here, of course. But certain people are just fucking cunts, Jon.

Arsenal are due a total meltdown. It started yesterday with Newcastle, and after they play Barcelona, where hopefully they have their arses handed to them on a plate (Messi has 40 goals in 33 games this season. Forty...), I could see them hitting the mental self-destruct button and falling behind.

Valencia and Park will be back then, so I'm optimistic we can kick on and win the title.

As much as I am looking forward to Valencia being back, I really can't see him simply finding his pre-injury form that quickly. The poor guy has been out since September and suffered a fairly serious fracture. As sad as it is, players often don't come back quite the same, and I fear Valencia won't be any different.

It's more that I just don't know at all rather than thinking we'll win/draw/lose against specific opposition. While I fancy us to win most of our home games that still leaves us with a good few away games and no away form to take into them.
