The old Man Utd Thread

Manucho eh. YouTube has nothing from him, can't say I've ever heard of him and don't have Football Manager with me to check his stats!

Will he not be sodding off to play in the African Nations though?

Edit - 69 goals in 60 games for his current club, according to Wikipedia. I don't care what league or country you play in, that's impressive.

You might find him under Goncalves, I think that's what he's named on Football Manager, might be wrong though.

Carrick who?

We need to improve in the second half but we've had some decent chances. The last attacking move of the first half was brilliant, deserved a goal but Ronaldo volleyed just wide.

Also, my heart skips a beat everytime they get the ball in our half. Simpson looks (understandibly) nervous and we really miss Rio's presence.

squeaker!

O'af looked so so clumsy for most of that half, him and Carrick were a bit rubbish I thought. Most of the team weren't having a good time though, Everton did a good job of harrying them throughout. And then to give away that penalty after so much hard work, d'oh.

Yeah, he must be feeling like crap after giving away a penalty like that. But I'm ohhh so thankful  Our boy is top scorer in the league now. Hehe! Not bad for a winger.

Well that definitely makes for a more enjoyable Christmas dinner.

You guys must be so happy with Ronaldo's continued contribution to the team. I think most pundits said he was never going to score the same amount of goals this season, but he already looks like surpassing last years (awesome) effort.

I think it was the NOTW that had a piece comparing him to Michael Jordan, and I don't think they were far off. Natural ability, grace and he now seems to have his head screwed on too. To me Jordan is the sporting icon of the 20th Century, there's no reason Ronaldo can't be (one of) for the 21st, except the Americans inability to appreciate the beautiful game properly of course.

lilman I don't think we could be any happier with his contribution so far this season. He's simply awesome and the fact that he is actually still improving all the time is, quite frankly, frightening. In Ferguson's post-match interview yesterday he described Ronaldo's perfomance as "perfect". That is praise of the highest level coming from a manager who is not easily pleased.

If he keeps up this kind of form for the rest of the season and (PLEASE GOD) doesn't get any serious injuries then I definitely think he'll go further than being "just" the third best player in the world.

Well when Utd played Milan last season, Kaka was excellent and practically won the game for Milan while Ronaldo did absolutely sod all over the course of the two legs. Not that I'm saying Ronaldo doesn't make a big difference a lot of the time, but in the really big games....I'm not so sure.

Anyway....is anyone else getting a bit frustrated with Hargreaves constant injuries. Considering we're nearly half way through the season he doesn't seem to have played many games does he? He seems to get injured, play a couple of games, get injured, play a couple of games, get injured....I hope he's not another Saha.

Well, normally the Setanta match would be that time, right? But it's not today because of the xmas thing, or something. Bloody fooled me nearly, had to get up at 6am instead of whenever-I-like :(

I believe earlier matches like this are scheduled based on police advice. To keep fans away from pubs pre-match etc. This is often why the big contentious matches like Man Utd v Liverpool/Everton/Leeds (lol) are often the early 12 or 12:45 kickoffs.

To be fair Kaka was gifted some of those goals from Heinze. We don't know if Kaka would have had the same effect if Man Utd didn't have their whole back four missing.
