Eat your words Drogba :(

It's almost as good as Essiens calculator.

Much as I love Scholes he's not the best player at the club anymore, he's not even the best midfielder!

Who do you feel is? Ronaldo I presume?

Just imagine what Giggs record could have been like if he'd have been allowed/ trained to play like Ronaldo?

The way it is Ronaldo's not really a winger in my mind, well in the traditional sense. Though I guess the team isn't traditional, either, with no centre forward as such.

Ridiculous statement.

Who's this player we have who's better than Scholes?

Well Ronaldo is a midfielder technically and he is better at present, and I think Anderson is shaping up to be a more complete player than Scholes

I edited my last post but now have my answer. IMO Scholes was the better, more influential player last year. He was back to his brilliant best.

Then again I see stuff different. Take the Toon game- Ronaldo deservedly got plaudits, but I can't help but feel Rooney was more dangerous and did more. Ron scored the goals and got the headlines. Then again I actually think Rooney is better than Ron, too...

Anderson? Uh oh. He's been here five minutes, speaking way, way too soon. More complete? Has he scored yet?

His had half a good season and hasn't scored a goal. His passing and shooting is a long way behind Scholes, defensively he is better though.

Some more points:

+ Is allegedly better in bed than Ronaldo according to some slappers.

- Rolls around like he's been shot at times. Stop it!

+ That said, he stood upto Gerrard and scouse soon ran off. About time we had people willing to stand up for team mates/ themselves again. That's what this team really lacks. The 94 team would play you off the park if you wanted a game; Hughes, Keane and Ince would also rip your face off if you wanted a fight.

That is something that is unfortunately still very much present in the portuguese league and all players who come over here suffer from it at first (Ronaldo and even Nani). He will soon learn to get over it and he has started to already. I'm sure Ferguson makes it more than clear enough that he does not tolerate those types of theatrics.

But picking up on your second point, I absolutely loved the way he stood tall to twatty gerrard and didn't let him phase him at all. I thought he did very well considering it was his first taste of a liverpool match. He really gets stuck in and never loses the ball. I'm telling you, give this lad another season to improve his passing and shooting and we'll have one hell of a midfielder.

He needs to pass on the 'arse-sticking-out' skill to all the other midfielders, it's fucking brilliant. United are playing a very similar type of football they always have, it's just now a fuck-load quicker. I mean is there any team with this much pace in midfield/upfront? Christ, Evra is probably one of the quickest players in the prem alone.

I have to agree that Anderson still has a way to go to get anywhere near Scholes influence on the team, but he's certainly not made a bad start. Would be nice to see him get in the box occasionally and get a goal though.

He's small, fast and will never, ever be in the first team for Utd.

It's hard to compare but he never impressed me as much as Rossi. Will he be good enough for you? Dunno, but I'd of wrote the same of Ebanks Blake and he did well enough at Plymouth for a big money move after leaving Utd.

While he technically is a midfielder, he doesn't play the traditional winger. He basically starts on the right at kick off and then roams around and swaps positions with the attacking players.

And while I've been very impressed with Anderson, and his future is certainly going to be bright. He still as alot to do and also do it over a full season or two before he can be mentioned in the same category as Scholes.

A central pairing of Scholes and Anderson makes me drool, we'll just pass teams to death with them 2 in the middle. The only doubt with that partnership is the defensive work that needs to be done, could they cope?

Anderson is actually a far better defensive player than I originally thought that he might be - he tracks back and gets stuck in surprisingly well

Yeah, when he came in I expected him to just hang around behind the strikers as a lot of attacking south american midfielders do (hi Veron!). I think the one advantage he does have is speed as he is certainly a lot quicker than most 'defensive' midfielders. Plus he isn't particularly lightweight and doesn't seem to mind getting stuck in.

COME ON! :D

Reading as usual give us a good game (what team doesn't raise their game against us? Apart from Newcastle ;) ), but we make use of the full 90 minutes with Ronaldo giving us a 0-2 lead right at the end. Rooney got the other goal, and Ronaldo has equalled his 23 goals of last season. Pardon? What was that Drogba, you wanted to say something....?

Watching O'Shea's awful distribution of the ball today made me realise how much our central midfield has been improved. It wasn't that long ago that O'Shea and Fletcher were regularly clogging up the midfield with their shittiness, but now between Scholes, Hargreaves, Carrick and Anderson we have plenty of options and enough cover for injuries.
