I missed it earlier but just noticed it's repeated at 2am so I'm glad I'm still awake.

Yep  He's doing well in the tournament. He'll be joining Panathinaikos when he gets back for the rest of the season and then hopefully Fergie will give his a taste of the premiership next season.

Looking forward to seeing it.

Aye, really looking forward to what he can do with our midfield supplying him. Looks like he could become something special.

Here is the goal for anyone that hasn't seen it.

I don't mean to bang on and I'm quite drunk now, but the fact that this thread has been barren on the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster is shambolic. Where are the real United fans who care about our history and the legacy of the Busby Babes?

Err...

Just watched the program about the air disaster on bbc 4 with Sir Bobby Charlton and it actually brought tears to my eyes watching him talk about it. You could really see how much it's scarred him emotionally, especially when he spoke about the loss of all the players. I really hope it's a fitting and respectful tribute on sunday.

Just because we're not banging on about it in the thread doesn't mean we're not paying our respects in our own ways. For example, I've been keeping up with MUtv for most of the day and reading some of the touching articles on the Manchester United website.

Is he of that generation? My dad's been telling me his memories too, he was only 5 at the time but he remembers his dad and grandad were absolutely distraught and spent all night and the next day going up and down the street, having people round talking about it and how we could ever recover. Amazing to think they played just a week later and won comfortably, and that they reached the FA Cup Final that same year.

A lot of the talk has been focussed on Duncan Edwards. I obviously never saw him play but I'll take Sir Bobby's word for it when he said he was the best player he ever played with. Better than Best, Law, Viollet. That's some compliment. Then there's Roger Byrne who was the captain, Eddie Colman, Tommy Taylor and the others and you've got a nucleus of players who would have made up the England squad at the '58 World Cup. All gone. It breaks my heart to think what that must have been like. Imagine if something similar happened today.

It is such a shame the Busby Babes never got to fulfill their potential, and show the world just how great they were. I think we would've gone on to win many more European Cups, and perhaps England would've gone onto win many more World Cups. With such a young team, Manchester United would've gone from strength, to strength. Especially as you had Bobby Chalton coming into the team, then George Best, and we probably still of bought Denis Law, as well. We would've had a team of some strength.

This one seems to have slipped under the radar:

Possebon given squad number

Sir Alex Ferguson has handed United's number 34 shirt to Brazilian youngster Rodrigo Possebon.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who completed a transfer from Sport Club Internacional last month, is expected to keep learning his trade in United's Reserves, but will now be eligible for senior duty if required.

The primarily right-footed youngster, who turns 19 next week, is a tall, athletic holding midfielder. He takes over the squad number vacated by Ryan Shawcross following his transfer to Stoke City.

Possebon has joined Anderson as the second Brazilian in United's squad but, while his compatriot has been a sensation in his first season at Old Trafford, the Reds' wealth of midfield talent will make it difficult for Possebon to make a senior impression this season.

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson and Cristiano Ronaldo have scooped the Barclays monthly awards for January.

Manager Ferguson, 66, wins the manager of the month award after leading his team to four wins out of four that included a 6-0 victory over Newcastle.

Current top marksman Ronaldo, 23, takes the player of the month title after scoring six goals to take his total in the league to 19.

It is the third time the current player of the year has won the award.

Ferguson has now won the award on 20 occasions although his last came in February 2007.

Fergie manager of the month? We stumbled past Birmingham, left it late against Reading and Villa and scraped a draw by the skin of our teeth against Spurs in January. Strange decision. Is it a rule that they give the player and manager awards to the same team, or is that just what always seems to be case?

I pressume Wellbeck will start on the bench. With Ronaldo up front in a wide position with Tevez .

Wellbeck has just been given a number in the 1st team this week. Comes out the reserves. 18 I think. SAF seems impressed enough to give him a go anyhow.... and of course us only have one striker this week...... except Dong..... but then hes barely even a footballer. :D
