The old Man Utd Thread

2-1 was flattering to be honest. Before Carrick's goal we had what, a couple of long range shots? Really awful performance. Not to lay the blame at Tevez's feet because everyone was bad (Ronaldo was practically invisible) but he just can't work as a lone striker, he's severely lacking in pace. When we went through that bad patch at the beginning of the season, when i believe Rooney and Saha were both out, I remember saying I was worried about Tevez being played as a lone striker and how we had no plan B and so it proved again today. If Saha is going to be constantly playing this small a part in proceedings then we need another striking option.

Gotta rely on Blackburn and Liverpool to do us a favour now I guess.

I thought we had some good attacking play and Tevez actually did alright. You are right he can't operate as a lone striker which is compounded by Ronaldo then having to play out of position and leaving us slightly weaker in midfield. We always seem to struggle against 5 man midfields too (see last weekend).

On the upside I though Anderson was brilliant.

The team was just a spectacular mess today and I couldn't tell who was supposed to be playing where most of the time. At one stage I think Giggsy was playing left-back and Vidic was on the right-wing.

On the upside I though Anderson was brilliant.

Agreed. He effortlessly wins balls he has no right to and has what is often described as a 'good engine'. All he needs to do to be seen as the new Roy Keane is kick the shit out of opponents every now and then.

He's got a long, long way to go before he can be compared to Roy Keane. The similarities are there; box to box midfielder, tireless and not afraid to get stuck in or shoot from distance. Keane had all of that in abundance and so much more.

Anderson is only like 19 though?

Also I am hoping Manucho gets a crack next season, tha and another striker brought in

Woooo! Sorry, gloating over. I've always said that if city played united 38 times a season we would hit the champions league no problem.

Anyway, I think all of this talk about united being terrible robs city of some credit. United could have made a lot more of their possession but I don't think that city were half as comfortable soaking up the pressure as some of the reports seem to make out. United didn't find the final ball but I thought 2-0 at half time flattered city. The second half saw the united attack degenerate somewhat but to call their performance terrible is a little harsh.

I was suprised to see how easily city carved up the united defense on the few counter attacking opportunities they got. Benjani made a huge difference today. In the past few games without elano or michael johnson we've been relying on petrov to do everything but benjani gave him someone to run off. He held up the ball well but also has the pace to then run at the united defense and finsh moves that he started.

Heard about this on the Radio. Scarves and programmes are being sold on for a profit.

The radio seemed to say it was Man Utd fans, but there's a couple of larger sellers on there, and some guy called "Evertonphil". You don't want anything to do with Everton ppl/ppl from Liverpool right?

Damn, at 1-0 I had the same feeling I did when United were playing Roma last season. I remember watching that game and thinking that Roma were obviously a good team, but, with the score at 1-0, thinking "this lot need to be careful here, or they're going to get a real beating".

Same thoughts about this game when it was 1-0, I should've posted then to look cool!

Arsenal are as flat as Man Utd were last week!

Rooney looks full of energy but it's Anderson for me that is the stand out player; such maturity and skill, totally different player to the one I was expecting from viewing Youtube videos before he signed.

Well that was a sweet, sweet victory, as our 11 players out there played to perfection. In Nani & Anderson, we have two extremely promising players. Plus Flectcher, and Carrick are running the show. Carrick's passing has been absolutely perfect. And Rooney, again could've scored a hat-trick or more

Oh, and well done to Barnsley :P
