What about the rumoured one year deal?

I'll be surprised if Rafa does extend his contract. Even if he does, I can't see him playing many games at all next season. Look at the list of players I posted that can play on the left and the list for the centre is even better!

Garcia - Needs to prove his fitness after a bad injury. Not really a left winger either.

Riise - Only used on the left wing in certain situations.

Kewell - Needs to prove his fitness after being mainly injured for the past half decade. :D

Gonzalez - Needs to prove he's simply good enough.

Aurelio - Never fit for longer than a few weeks at a time.

Leto - I know nearly nothing about him and I couldn't even find him in Football Manager 2007!

I can see why Rafa might extend Zenden's contract for a year. The Simao deal with Cisse going the other way sounds interesting though.

I really don't see what he offers that the others I've listed don't. His major advantage is experience which both Garcia and Kewell bring. And although Garcia isn't a traditional winger, when playing in Rafa's systems he does a fine job and is much better than Bolo.

Zenden offers little apart from hard work but with question marks against a lot of our other left sided players I can see why Benitez would give him another 12 months. Beyond that he's certainly gone though.

I agree with what you're saying but for me there is no reason to offer him an extension. If Rafa feels Zenden is worth a place in the squad based on the qualities that the others do or don't provide then he should be looking to bring somebody else good enough in IMO. Especially when you consider the purchase of Lucas Leiva. If he can justify buying another central midfielder, when we've already got some of the best in world football then there is no reason why he can't do the same for the left wing and move Bolo on. Unless of course he has already put aside all his transfer budget for a couple of big targets, which I suppose is a distinct possibility.

There is a slight difference in that there are 2-3 central midfielder slots up for grabs, whilst there is only one left wing position. So naturally, you would expect more central midfielders to be bought compared to left wingers.

Whilst we have cover there, I don't think we can count on Kewell staying fit and I have not been convinced by Gonzalez at all for him to replace Harry. The others can do a job there, but I would not consider the left wing to be their position. So, I think we do need a quality player for that role.

Which is basically what I'm saying. We have four outstanding central midfielders already and Rafa has seen fit to buy another. We have a load of players that can fill in on the left wing although it's not their best position, one that is a proper left winger but is struggling to adapt to the pace of the English game and one that has bags of talent but just can't stay fit (as yet). We really could do with some quality in that position.

So what's everybody hoping for this transfer window? A world class striker, left winger and another centre back (for the squad rather than first 11) would do for me. Tevez being the player I most want to see at Anfield next season.

My parents thoughtfully picked me up a scarf to wear to the pub on Wednesday. It's got that it's for the champion's league final, AC Vs Liverpool and everything.

Thing is, they picked it up in Milan. It's black and red.

It's not getting worn on Wednesday.

It would show a great deal of respect for the opposition ^_^ .

Stick it in your pocket, if you win bring it out and go on about how winning isn't the only thing, you'd have worn it even if you'd lost and all that bollocks.

Gerrard has a horrible taste in houses.

Hey, see Cisse scored a cracker the other day and is crying to come back to Liverpool despite firing OM into the Champins League? We should definitely get him back. Although not everybody's cup of tea I'd say he did better than Bellamy (who I also like) We'd get more money for Bellamy, I'd say.

Get Cisse back and play him as a striker.

I fucking love Djibril Cisse.

I had a dream recently that I was watching the Champion's League final in a small bar (alright, it was a room with 2 other people in, one I didn't know) and somehow, Cisse had found a clause in his contract which meant he could play in the final, and I was screaming at the telly because I really didn't want him there. He was playing shit, too.

He has one skill and just isn't good enough for us, really.

He never played to his potential but still ended up top scorer one season didnt he? :)

Second behind Gerrard, but Cisse was out on the wing for most of the season. Now people will say Cisse scored all his goals against shit opposition, as if that's somehow worse than not scoring at all.

Cisse might not be the best but he is a very good striker, outscored Drogba in France. But the best thing about Cisse is we own him and he wants to play for Liverpool more than anything in the whole wide world. I can't really see the logic in letting him go at a massive loss.

Rafa's obvioulsy magic but there's something about the whole Cisse getting fucked over while Morientes and then Crouch was given chance after chance that really grinds my gears.

Well, unless he's gotten a lot better, I just don't see reason to keep hold of him. I'm not fond of Kuyt either, even though he loves the club. They need improvement lessons.

Also, the weather for the final looks like it could be thunder & lightening. That's, like, final-boss-in-a-fighting-game weather.

Just Daniel Alves and a striker for me. Our squad is huge and I don't see any other first teamers being needed unless certain positions are vacated. We have an abundance of young centre backs so I don't see that position needing filled anytime soon. We are being linked with Milito again though.

I'd love to see Cisse back, I think it's pretty poor form of you guys to label him rubbish. As has been said he never got a really fair crack at playing as a striker but he still scored a fair few goals. But for me the best thing about Cisse is his love of the club, and this is despite him being treated not that well IMO. I still remember the way he talked before he joined, like he would walk over broken glass to get here, and this is when all the top clubs in Europe would have loved to have him, and it was at the time when Owen was umming and ahhing about staying. Obviously a love for the club is not enough in itself but then his goal record is pretty good too and is outstanding in France where he would out score Drogba.

Some melons on the telly were moaning about Drogba's first touch on Saturday, it's funny how these things stick. Drogba wasn't great in his first full season. Drogba, let's not forget cost double the money Cisse did. The Auxerre guy reckoned Cisse was the better goalscorer. And of course money isn't a factor really but the thing is we've already paid the money. We own him, why sell him at a massive loss and get a Voronin (I don't know anything about that guy, he could be awesome).

Rafa obvioulsy has a big problem with Cisse, and that's fair enough if he's not the type of player Rafa wants, but to call him a rubbish player is a bit idiotic.

There was the stuff in the paper lasy year about how Liverpool were trying to teach Cisse how to bend his runs to stay onside and he was the stupidest player ever. That was bad to come out in the paper. There were countless times Cisse was flagged offside when he wasn't, but you don't get anything for that.

So who do we want instead? A striker from Spain? We've tried that remember, didn't work out too well, despite Morientes being given chance after chance after chance. He's a top player though, so why wouldn't Eto'o or Villa be the same? For all the talk of Spanish strikers Ruud leads the way there and Sinama is up there.

I kind of liked it when Rafa didn't want to play Cisse in that final (super cup?) but we were losing and he came on and banged two in (yeah, yeah, he was lucky for both goals, Cisse is always lucky when he scores, he just hits and hopes, terrible touch etc).

You might have guessed I'm a big Cisse fan, but most of that comes because he is such a Liverpool fan, something you guys who are slagging him might want to think about.

I'm sure a lot of the Cisse hate comes from the goal he missed against Man U. That was a horrible miss but how many horrible misses has Crouch horribly missed? Kuyt (who I think is ace) doesn't even miss chances, he doesn't get chances.

I think Cisse's main problem is his workrate. He just doesn't try hard enough and that is why Rafa would persevere with Crouch and Nando over Cisse. Kuyt hasn't een prolific this season but he's worked his arse off and brings more to the team than just the odd goal.

I like Cisse, I really do and I wish him all the best with his career but I don't want to see him back at the club. He whinged when he was played out wide despite scoring more and playing better from the right flank than up front. He whinged when he was substituted and he whinged when he wasn't selected. According to some of the players he was also a very lazy trainer. He did provide a goal threat but he was also very erratic in front of goal and just didn't work hard enough. He's one of the fastest players around but he didn't use his pace to his advantage, he didn't chase or follow anything up and at times would just sulk and moan if a ball was played a few yards too far away rather than try and win it, which he undoubtedly could if he was arsed because he is so quick. If he didnt score in a game the likelyhood is he would have contributed very little to nothing to that game. Where as if Kuyt doesn't score, he will definitely have dropped in to help his midfield out for most of the game, worked the channels and helped retain possession by constantly pesterig and chasing defenders etc.

I appreciate that but then you can say that about a lot of top goal scorers, Owen for example, he'd do nothing in a game except score. I just think we've enough in midlfield without the strikers being there too. A balance would be great but I think I'd prefer the goals over the workrate. Cisse explained why he moans and that and how he wasn't being disrespectful. I think he said Henry does the same, but of course he can with his record.

I just fucking love the guy. Sell Bellamy and keep Cisse, even if just for backup.

I can't see Cisse coming back and now the team has moved on I don't want him back. I agree he wasn't given tons of chances in the team but that must have had something to do with what Rafa saw day in day out on the training pitch. I personally believe our team is much stronger now and needs a striker with more qualities than Cisse. Good luck to him though in the future.

Right, I am so looking forward to wednesday night its untrue. I am confident we can beat Milan and am getting pissed off with everyone I speak to giving me this look of REALLY? MILAN ARE ACE! I personally believe since the group stages we have been one of if not the best team in the competition. Every game we've gone into I've been confident (bar the first Barce game) and think we have the players and tactical nouse to take Milan apart.

Its gonna be brilliant. I'm actually watching it with a fellow Liverpool supporter in a pub in Stafford which is gonna be weird as I live in Gloucestershire! Gonna get in there early (bout 6) and no doubt get completely wrecked. I'm a nightmare when it comes to matches and seem to drink pints without even realising it!!

After saturdays unbelievably awful game between the apparently "best two teams in England" I want Liverpool to show everyone what a good side we are!!!!

So where will people be watching it then? Pub or home? I think I might be in the sports cafe in london. Rammed but there you go.

Possibly the pub, but probably at home with the surround sound turned right up.

All the flags are already proudly flying from the houses in my road - if when we win there'll be an amazing street party like 2 years ago!

In the pub with DaveyPauly, as I did two years ago.

has everyone seen the "flagmakers" Word document yet, or do I have to take all the pictures out of it and upload them all?
