Dogsout's back! Good holiday? How was the 4-berth in Rhyl?

.......

Early days yet, but I can't wait to see more games involving the new signings. Kuyt-Torres partnership looks promising, even at this stage.

It wasn't bad thanks, but I'm glad to be back if I'm honest. Although my opinion on the matter may change when the builders arrive here at 7:30 this morning to continue wrecking the place! I just took a little break to see my old man (in sunny Sandown) and doss about on the beach with my bird, sister, one of my cousins and his girlfriend. They all got burnt to fuck but I just got browner! No caravans in sight either.

Now, back to the serious stuff; I'm sure you all got bored of me saying how good I think Torres is but I'll say it again. He doesn't even look like he'll need long to adapt. He was very unlucky not to get on the score sheet in what was a tough away game. I'm 100% confident he's going to do the business for us.

Is anyone else sick of the media portraying us as some sort of one man team who is constantly saved by Superman (aka Gerrard)?

This morning I decided to do a bit of research and decided to look to see who the winning goalscorer was in each of our games last season found that last season Liverpool were "saved" by Gerrard on one occasion (home to Man City). Obviously he has equalled this tally already this season by scoring the winning goal against Villa. Last season Crouch scored our winning goal more than any other player doing it on 4 occasions last season.

Compare this to Man Utd who were saved on 4 occasions by Ronaldo and Chelsea who were saved on 7(!) occasions by Drogba.

Everyone knows Gerrard is a fantastic and important player for us but this is exactly because he can score goals and win us games. If we are so relient on him according to our media then why arent Man Utd with Ronaldo or Chelsea with Drogba?

Who gives a fuck, the media are wankers!

All I'd say is I would not be without Gerrard. He does a superb job for us and is key to our success......but then so is Reina and Carragher and Finnan etc etc etc.

I'm sure if Liverpool drew on saturday and Man U won yesterday they'd be telling us our season was over. Vice-versa and I'm sure they have made some excuse for Man U not beating Reading at home (with 10men).

You know, Gerrard is pretty much the best player in the World but I think there is a degree of the rest of the team being a bit frightened and in awe of him, like what they reckon was the case with Henry. People talk about him saving Liverpool but they don't take into account that the team is set up precisely so he can do so.

I think possibly you could be right with that.

I'm just looking forward to more games with Torres, Kuyt, Pennant playing well and Gerrard getting back to form of which he wasn't so much last season. Its definitely exciting times being a Liverpool fan!

Anyone fancy guessing our team line up tonight?

The only thing that's guaranteed is that Pennant won't be playing (he's been left at home).

Someone else that won't be playing is Kewell as he's aparently got a groin injury. 8) x 1000

Mascherano wasn't even on the bench at the weekend. I couldn't believe it as at the end of last season he was pretty much your best player. Rafa's rotation boggles the mind sometimes and this comes from a Chelsea fan used to watching Ranieri's tinkering!

He can't win - if Rafa played Masch, some fans would've been complaining that we didn't need to play a defensive midfielder against 'inferior' opposition such as Villa.

Yeah he was being rested after the Copa. I can't see how the rotation system particular baffles though. We have quality throughout the squad, unfortunately that means people will have to sit out. Did you see our bench on saturday? FULL of quality!

This. We played a very offensive CM pairing away from home, something the Andy Grays of this world said Rafa would never do as he's too cautious. I could just picture the shite that would be spouted had he played Masch and Xabi in the middle with Stevie starting from the right.

Stevie speaks about rotation, his position and team tactics.

I was particularly pleased to see Gerrard making the right noises there. That's exactly the sort of quote I was hoping to read last season when Sky's anti Rafa/rotation/Gerrard on the right campaign took shape.

Liverpool: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Arbeloa, Benayoun, Gerrard, Mascherano, Babel, Voronin, Crouch.

Subs: Itandje, Agger, Riise, Torres, Alonso, Kuyt, Sissoko

Just one out on the prediction then. Forgot about Hyypia! :( Great to see him on the team sheet.

COME ON BOYS!!!

Love it:

1607: Javier Mascherano goes on a rare foray forward but runs the ball out of play when he reaches the strange surroundings - for him - of the byeline.

1556: Yossi Benayoun has got the plum role in the first 45 minutes. A long way from the talkative boss and playing on the left in the shade.

1555: Rafa Benitez, shirt sleeves rolled up, is on the edge of his technical area babbling on. Poor old Ryan Babel. He's the one patrolling the right side getting it in the ear. Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier is in attendance. Nice shades.

The Guardian Unlimited minute-by-minute is much more entertaining:

43 min: WHAT A GOAL FROM ANDRIY VORONIN!!! Voronin has had a decent start to his Liverpool career, and it continues: Crouch flicks a header his way; he chests the ball down, takes a touch, and sends an absolute screamer straight into the top right-hand corner of the net at about 374mph. You may see a better goal in the Champions League this year - you may - but I doubt very much you'll see a harder shot.
