Yeah, but that would have been a penalty if the goal hadn't stood (foul on Baros by the keeper), but there you go

Yeah I know I'm just stirring. Anyway if it hadn't been a pen yesterday then Drogba would have had possibly our best chance of the game. He was left wide open in the area when play was stopped. Only time in the game he'd properly got free all match.

Managed to miss the game yesterday, due to the world's worst hangover. Have only seen the penalty descision and am feeling quite outraged. Saying that, if you had of said to me before the game "will you take a draw?" I might well have said yes. Maybe.

Feeling good about Liverpool this season, everyone seems to be having a bit of a shakey start, but I thinkl the reds are the ones showing the most promise. I wonder if we'll put more into the Prem than the CL this year?

Has the visually impaired Mr Styles said anything to the press about the penalty decision yet?

Will he go for the cowardly 'intent', or hold his hands up and admit he was well out of order?

Well Finan was certainly guilty of intent to stand in the penalty area. A crime certainly worth a penalty if not a red card surely!

Speaking of which that second yellow card to Essien that wasn't was hilarious too. Essien's expression when he thinks he's got a second yellow then when he doesn't see the red he just runs off and makes himself scarce. Styles is the new Poll for sure.

Well, declining a post-match interview heavily implies he has no confidence in his decisions on the pitch yesterday, nor having any inclination to wanting to explain himself. He dun fucked up and he kno it.

There's been too many new pages in this thread over the past 24 hours to go back through them all but has Terry's butt on Torres got a mention? It did happen as I was bizarrely reminded by a Chelsea fan. Fernando should have dropped like a stone.

Damn right! :( It did annoy me quite a bit that thuggish Terry got away with practically the same thing. But as Spudulis said, not in the least surprising considering the amount of blunders Styles made.

I almost feel sorry for him as it must be a horrible game to referee, but then it's his job and he should be able to cope.

You lot looked quite fantastic yesterday, not a weak link in the side as I saw it. Whether Torres can play like that for nine months (cue clichés about a wet Wednesday night in Bolton) is another matter, but on yesterday's evidence at least you won't be 20 points off the pace come April.

When there's Crouch, Voronin and Babel on the bench he can be afforded a few off days in his first season but he carried almost a whole team in Spain so for me his commitment is little in doubt.

What I think is even more positive for you is that within a couple of games Torres and Kuyt have shown more deft touches and understanding between them than Drogba and Sheva managed in the whole of last season.

Where is Shevchenko - injured? on Romans yacht drinking Bacardi breezers?

It's dawned on me that neither Leto or Lucas have made a competitive match squad yet. They're not exactly 16 year old kids and one is currently the holder of the Brazilian footballer of the year title! :(

A lot of angry reds rang the phone in on BBC radio merseyside last night claiming it wasn't Chelsea team pressure but Chelsea money that caused Style's decision.

Don't think it went that deep regardless of how bad a decision it was

So he booked Terry twice then? He has said he used the card to signal a free kick after he had booked Terry, but that's obviously a lie/mistake because he clearly waves it to signal a booking.

I think he made a mess of it. No argument on that score.
