i think crouch needs to be given a chance. I'm sure he will score more goals than Kuyt, but some will argue Kuyt works hard for the team. If i was Rafa i would want the strikers to score goals more than anything else.

If i was Rafa i would want the midfielders to score goals more than anything else.

Who got the armband today when Carra went off? Alonso?

Babel looks way better on the right than the left.

That worries me, considering he was bought to play on the left. Of course it does make our right side look awesome if Pennant keeps playing well. But then we've gone another summer without getting a proper left winger.

I'm sure there were quite a few reasons Benitez wanted Heinze. First choice, defensive-minded left-back, leaving Riise free to play left-wing if needed. Also he'd be pretty handy for cover for centre-back right about now.

I wonder how long a broken rib will take to heal? I'm not sure about an Agger / Arbeloa centerback pairing.

I fractured mine playing rugby and I was out for 2-3 months so I imagine he'll be back in 1 at the most. Pump him full of pain relief after a couple of weeks and he'll be fine!

Anymore than a month and I'm sure the cheque book might just come out again. Unless Hobbs is ready to join the first team squad.

Additional, the LFC channel launches on Setanta next month. The will be showing all reserve games live and stuff from the academy. Best bit? While you can only get it by subscribing to Setanta, it's free with the other Setanta Channels. So not only do you get LFC, but wou'll be able to see all the live premiership games on setanta for just one price (£10 a month for sky users)

but the transfer window will be closed on Friday until New years!

I know. I meant if his diagnosis was a month+ out then the cheque book might get opened.

I signed up to Virgin Media last week so I get Setanta / The Liverpool channel for nothing. :D

And I've got the Eurovox, so get it all for free anyway! :D

EDIT: I'd be pretty pissed off if I paid a tenner a month for Setanta - it's one cheap-ass channel. Surprised not to see bits of the studio collapsing in the background when the pundits are talking.

It doesn't have Richard Keys on it so it's automatically superior to Sky Sports. :D

I'm a big boxing fan so I already had Setanta. I can't wait for the LFC channel to launch now.

I see Paletta has gone to Boca Juniors. It's a bit of a shame that he never made it over here as he's got quite the reputation in his home land.

So surely we can expect a new centre back to be coming before the end of the month?

Lets hope Agger can stay fit :)

PS I got tickets for the Toulouse game! So I will be at Anfield for the first time

Liverpool have confirmed Jamie Carragher sustained a broken rib during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

Tests on Sunday morning also revealed the defender has developed a pneumothorax. It is unclear at this stage how long Carra will be out.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Sami Hyypia broke his nose at the Stadium of Light. However, he trained at Melwood on Sunday and is expected to be fit to face Toulouse on Tuesday.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Sami has a broken nose but will be available for the second leg of our Champions League qualifier.

"Jamie underwent a series of investigations on Sunday morning which confirmed he has a broken rib and has also developed a pneumothorax. He will continue to be monitored on Sunday but at this stage no further treatment will be required."

Oh, shit. :)

Carra will be fine and (I would think) out of action for no more than a few weeks.

The broken rib will heal quickly, and the pneumothorax (unless it's a tension pneumothorax) should resolve within a week.

I think I love you. I was starting to panic, hoping we wouldn't be crying over this in a few months, saying it had fucked with our chances this season. I think we'll manage a few weeks.

We've got two of our best players out at the moment.

Last season, if Gerrard and Carra had been both out at the same time, I'd have been extremely worried. This season, our squad is so strong that we can now cope.

Still wouldn't mind us getting a left/centre-back though

Yeah our next games are Toulouse, Derby, Portsmouth, Birmingham and Wigan. That takes us upto 7th October. So we should be fine. I know none of those teams are pushovers as nobody in the Premiership is but if we have title aspirations we need to be able to beat them whilst missing a couple of players.

I was going to suggest RAWK but I don't know how it would look if someone signed up just to try and get tickets (unless the original poster already has a username there?).

Usually it will involve a lot of contact first (calls and whatnot) and probably the user having to meet the other person's conditions (meeting up with them near their place or something) but it's happened. Moderators can usually tell from IPs if they're someone dodgy from a previous time and if it's a small game then it's less dodgy looking.

Good win for the boys on the weekend. Like someone said, it would have been a game we'd probably of drawn last year so a 0-2 against a tough Sunderland side is good news to me. Nice to see Voronin scoring again too.

Right, i'm pretty sure one of us will get this right at some point but I'm taking a guess at the team tonight. So far my best has been one player out. Nice of Rafa to present us with this little game to keep us occupied through the season! <_<

Reina

Arbeloa

Agger

Hyppia

Finnan

Benayoun

Mascherano

Alonso

Riise

Kuyt

Crouch

I could be way off as he may want to give some more time to Voronin and Sissoko. I do think Crouch will start tonight though.

Hyypia or Alonso for captain?

I'm glad the game is on ITV so I can sit at home after a heavy weekend and chill out.
