Ever walked out of a movie?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that something similar has been posted before but I'm in work and the search function doesn't seem to work here. Just wondering what movies you've deemed so terrible that even though you've paid to go see them, you've had to just cut your loses and leave. For me, I'll nearly always stay to the end in case the ending of the film suddenly makes the rest of a rather dull film seem fantastic. Although I didn't see it in the cinema, Easy Rider is an example of this for me, fairly uninteresting road movie until the last 5 minutes which made the whole film seem worthwhile... Anyway, the only two I've ever walked out on are Star Wars 2 : Attack of the Clones and The Most Fertile Man In Ireland. Terrible films at either end of the budget and talent spectrum, I think SW2 was worse actually. What films haven't you been able to watch to the end?

Never walked out of a film, but came close with Attack of the Clones. I think it was at the point C3-P0 was dropping gags about being beside himself, me and the missus just looked at each other as if to say "This is a travesty, shall we go?" but I couldn't bring myself to admit how low SW had sunk.

I did walk out at the interval when we went to see Mamma Mia with work. I could feel my life ebbing away from me, I had to get out.

I can't even remember much about it apart from a big cgi fuelled battle on a big grassy field. Even that battle was totally devoid of excitement. Terrible

Last film I walked out of was Tomorrow Never Dies. Couldn't believe how shit it was compared to the mighty Goldeneye.

Its weird. I've sat through far shittier films since, but TND just annoyed me for some reason.

Anyway, I've seen it since on DVD/TV and it ain't that bad...

I've only ever walked out of one film - Carry on Colombus. I'm ashamed to admit I paid to see that shit-rag of a film.

I also fell asleep the first two times I went to see Lawnmower man (mainly due to alcohol) - I actually paid to see it three times until I saw it all the way through. Christ, I'm an idiot.

I went to see the awesome Gods and Monsters with a friend, and he gat all upset and wanted to walk out when he realised it was a film that featured gayness. I called him a div and he stayed to the end, albeit grumpily.

As far as I know he hasn't moved to Thailand and changed his name to Loretta yet.

I've never walked out of a film but a number of times I've got to the end of a film and wished I had. I suppose I always hope it's going to get better towards the end! I did fall asleep during Fever Pitch though.

Never walked out, but I have only ever stopped watching one film that I paid to see: Freddy Got Fingered. It was so dire I just had to switch it off.

When I went to see Supersize Me, half the audience walked out about half an hour in, granted, that was only about 6 people, but it surprised me somewhat, as I don't know what they were expecting.

Maybe they had an urge to go to Macdonalds?

Yes.

I don't play Poker so what in particular wound you up about it in the film?

You think wrong. And nothing wound me up about it at all Minute SPOILERS ahead: At the time I turned to a friend and said "watch this - flush, full house, better full house, straight flush. It's going to be that retarded." And it was. Exactly that retarded in fact. I really didn't care either way. I mean, it's James Bond! Still, now I think about it, a four way all in in an absolutely huge winner take all single table tournament, with supposedly good players, is beyond jokes. Statistically less likely than pretty much anything James Bond has ever survived I'd wager. Yay! Still, enjoyable film, no?

Anyway, I have walked out of one film once, in France. We went in expecting an underwater action extravaganza. It started with some beautiful underwater shots and soothing music. Thirty minutes later it was still underwater shots and soothing music. We realised it wasn't going to get any more action heavy than "ooooh look at the fishies swim" so we left.

I have never walked out of a cinema and never will.

Are you posting from one now?

Other than Freddie Got Fingered, I will always give a film a complete watch before I pass judgement so will almost never leave / switch it off before the end. I have been tempted a number of times though, namely:

Eyes Wide Shut

Children Of Men

Clockwork Orange

Napoleon Dynamite

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

Meet The Feebles

Lost In Translation

All of which came highly reccommended and I absolutely hated.

Are you sure you weren't actually in an aquarium?
