Well after cruising to through the first cup I got my ass handed to me on a plate on the second. Ended up bottom of my group and only managed to score six goals in the entire group section.

Happened me as well, strolled through the first cup but struggled through the group stages of the Crystal Cup. Managed to fluke a win in the semis but was absolutely killed in the final. Didn't even score, Diddy Kong is a complete bastard.

I don't let many goals in, but looking back I used the Mega Strikes to get most of my goals in the first cup. In the Crystal cup I seem to very rarely have the time to get one in. Plenty of practice required to progress with this one. I'm also starting to think Yoshi wasn't the best choice as Captian.

I finished bottom of my group with only three wins from ten in the Crystal Cup, despite winning two of the first three games. I only picked up one win in the remaining seven. My problem is lack of goals, I was getting beaten 1-0 or 2-0 for the most part. I had the best defensive record in the league even though I finished last.

Wario (although his farting move is rubbish)

with Toad, Dry Bones and Hammer Bros

Managing to use Toad's summersault to jump over the keeper and score is the best thing in the game.

Infact it's possibly the best thing in any game ever.

Wasn't Koopa the default instead of Toad? I was pretty sure I had to swap Toad into my side.

Bit freaky that I almost typed the exact same thing about Yoshi's special move though.

I went with the default team when I selected Yoshi as captian: Dry Bones, Hammer Bros and Toad. Slightly regretting the choice of Yoshi as captain his egg roll move is pretty weak.

You may be right.

I also tend to pick Yoshi as I thought he'd be a good bet for this as he's one of the balanced characters, but his special move is a waste of time (or at least I've never managed to put it to good use).

Brilliant online this. I've played this morning until my trigger shooting finger is red raw.

Peach, two supporting Toads and a Dry Bone defensive line for me.

Yeah, and don't I know it!

I was defeated 2-0, 2-0 by your line up!

what's the scoop with friends online? I've only ever seen a few folks and they're busy... I can't send an invite until they are available?

their in a game

I've had the problem that I've added at least 30 ppl so far, and loads have added me, but I can only interact with 5

GAME really annoyed me today. Went in there to get Mario Strikers, queued for about 20 mins and then get told its out of stock as I hand over the display box. Could they not have put a note up on the shelf? The guy said they could not as Nintendo had paid for the display (which was the boxes on the shelf with the price tag on). Seems pretty daft to me. Oh well, Amazon instead then. GAME's loss. I was suprised to find this out of stock everywhere in town - is this due to popular demand or lack of units?

surely not....

Yep same here, i was lucky to get one of the last few in town on saturday... Might be they didnt order much in... i remember the day Phantasy Star 1&2 came out on the cube... only one place in town had it (a game) and they had 2 copies in total which i took 1

This is great fun, fast and frantic, but a bit confusing so far. I'm all fingers and thumbs, trying to remember which button does what. I've added my code to the online thread if anyone wants a nice easy game!

my biggest problem is that I lose site of the ball and think I'm moving the wrong guy. I forget to press A to change the nearest guy.

When I really concentrate tho - I'm ok. Still, I've only won about 4 games online out of about 15 total games. I'm pretty rubbish at it.

Have you gone through all the tutorials?

I've no idea if they're sold out or not, but the GameStation I bought mine from on Friday afternoon seemed to have a reasonable amount of stock. Pretty sure I overheard one of the staff saying they had around 20 copies left at that point. A friend of mine managed to get a copy from Game yesterday afternoon as well, so it's certainly not as bad as the cube stock levels. (I remember how bad it could be, only 2 copies of Ikaruga between 3 different Game stores in Edinburgh at the time, although i'm an idiot it was the same situation with Amplitude on ps2).

My Team - Hammer Bros in defence, Mazza in the middle, Birdo and Shyguy as my wingmen.

You know, the game sounds naff to me. Maybe, in my mind, I can't shoehorn all the wacky (it sounds seriously wacky) stuff into a football game. It's gone beyond football for me. Maybe if it was Mario Handball or something I didn't actually like  ..

But when you lot are talking about your line ups like this, for some reason I really want to buy it  .

I'll probably break over the next day or two. Asda, £29.99.

Yes! But by the end I'd forgotten half of what I'd learned earlier...

It's all good fun though. It will click and in the meantime I've got the basics OK.

You don't get enough time to choose your squad online! I get confused between all the sidekicks, don't remember their special moves, don't remember their strengths and weaknesses, and just as I'm figuring it all out, I've no time left to choose properly! I guess that's only an intial problem, until you get to know all of the sidekicks and captains well.

Am I the only one who comes away from a nailbitingly close online match physically trembling?
