While not being online I decided to give the single player a go.

Toughest 1st tournament I've encountered in a Ninty game yet. The first round is simple enough but cheat bastard Mario keeps stealing a win in the final!

Having great fun with and Birdo has an amazing shot from distance on her/him

done all the tutorials and got to the knock outs on the first trophy. It's frantic and well balanced, with great presentation. The wee man, who's 4 months was mezmorised by the intro!

pity the servers have melted though.

The one time we think that NOE have done something slightly good by giving us a game early, it's actually just to beta test a broken online system.

So Europe is *still* getting the shaft!

that's what i reckon. It's a big server test which has obviously failed. :)

lunchtime I had 5 or 6 games

Fucking ace they were. Intense superbly balanced multiplayer genius.

I've beeen on this all morning, probably played 15 people now and had no lag and no one quit on me even when I was winning.

It wont stop some people quitting, but the fact that you can get points for scoring even when you are losing seems to be a real incentive to carry on in games. And unless you are down by about 7 goals or seomthing there is always the remote chance that you can do a mega and come back from the dead. Particularly if you are playing me, I always shit myself and let at least couple of balls in.

I do love the way the stadiums all play very differently and seem to require slightly different approaches to scoring.

Someone top of the leader board has almost 100 000 points :) modders on WiFi???

Played just now - awesome fun and really tense. Won the first game 2-1, lost the next one 8-4 and lost the final game 1-0 in the last few red seconds! If people are quiting just because they lose the first game they're scum bags! You get points for scoring anyway so that makes a defeat feel less harsh and annoying.

A wobbly start last night but really impressed with the simplicity of the online system.

Gave in and grabbed the last copy from Asda early this morning.

Had two series on-line - won the first and got slaughtered on the second.

Good thing I have nothing planned for the bank holiday and the missus is away as I'm hooked

The mega-saves are bloody difficult, is it just me or is everyone else finding them difficult?

If they're hit fast it's hard, but at the slower speeds I can save a couple of them.

I've still not got the hang of the power-ups. Do you just get them for doing shots or are you supposed to pick them up on the pitch?

you get them for firing off charged shots - or tackling someone who doesn't have the ball. So, when charging up a shot you've got to make choice whether or not to take the chance and go for a megashot or boot it and get a power-up.

I think this game is ace - and the intro movie is brilliant.
