Wireless @ Hyde Park

Disgraced Toblerone

Recommended Posts

Being drunk at work, I just bought two tickets for thursday and Friday at Wireless (and a plane ticket, and a hotel booking, and a place for Motorhead...).

Is it any good? Advices? Is there enough beer/food/urinals?

Being in Switzerland, I'm a bit spoilt with ultra clean and posh festivals...

Yeah its good, I went to Wireless last year (I think it was last year) plenty of toilets and food/drink places. They have a big old fun fair thing going on aswell, plus loads of stalls selling vodka jelly, legal highs (whatever the fuck they are) and so naff oxygen bar thing. Lots of people partying and picnicing with their kids etc

What date is Wireless?

All the best stuff is on the days you aren't there. See Robyn, though.

I know. Zürich's going well?

Not quite decided on saturday. Daft punk +LCD + CSS versus Motörhead...

Looking forward to White stripes and the Thrills (I love the thrills...).

Thanks Sandra. The thing is that I usually hate open air festivals, with people there more for eating/drinking than the gigs, but I thought I'd give it another chance.

Well, I'll just probably end up completely smashed, as usual.

CSS are really shit live, I've had to live through them twice now. Daft Punk are past their best, but LCD Soundsystem are absolutely magnificent. Even after four times.

I'm back in England now, Zürich didn't work out. But I made sure I said "fotze" a lot before I left.

Oh? I quite like CSS album, and I heard Daft Punk were amazing live last year. Well, Motörhead then. But it's seated...

Arf. Hope it was good while it lasted. What went wrong?

The toilet and drink queues are minimal to non-existant when there's someone on the main stage so as long as you don't mind missing a bit here and there you can do everything you need in quick time.

Exactly what I wanted to hear. Thanks.

Last year's lineup was aswesome eith Massive Attack, The Flaming Lips, DJ Shadow and stuff. I paid for my ticket like a sucker, though.

How do you get the ones they give away? Literally just turn up and hope it doesn't sell out?

No, given away on a website. I got something like 20 free tickets the year before last. Mind you, that clashed with Glasto. Dur!

Not sure they were given away for free last year, but tickets were definitely going for less than cover price on eBay.

Fotze is the best word ever!! I used to use it as a password, then had to call a company and give over my password, the bloke on the phone was either German, or he knew what it meant!! He rolled up!

Strangely, I went to the massive attack day last year and can't remember the flaming lips being there at all. I don't doubt they were but seing as they are a band I would have like to have seen it seems pretty odd that it all passed me by.

They were given away free last year as they cunningly made it clash with the World Cup. I asked for one set (Raconteurs/Belle and Sebastian/Strokes) and they didn't turn up the day before so I sent a stroppy email saying "They haven't turned up" and they promptly sent a pair special delivery, with a pair for another night as well if they didn't turn up in time. I ended up not using the second set as it clashed with a (really crap...) England match, but they weren't worth selling.

It was a very nice festival, with "nice" being the correct word. A bit boring. Long queues for a belgian waffle, not that long for beer. A Pimms tent.

The XFM tent was quite good though, Young Knives and Pigeon Detectives were both good. And the whole day was stolen by Gogol Bordello.
