Wall-E - New from Pixar

Saw this today today with the little 'un who loved it! It's a good film although I had to wonder about the bit JohnC mentioned... seemed a bit Hollywood that

he was OK

thought he was gone for sure!

Even though it didn't 'speak' I kept hearing Chris Rock as

Saw this today. What an excellent film. Pixar always seem to deliver, don't they?

Perfectly balanced film. The opening is sublime and then it turns into pleasingly familiar Pixar action to create what is perhaps the studio's masterpiece (although my heart will always belong to Finding Nemo). I didn't really think much of yet another lecture on climate change, but the story around it is done well enough to never make it as annoying as your average Bono or Thom Yorke interview.

It goes without saying it makes your eyes happy and will be Blu-ray's best argument yet in the run-up to Christmas.

I thought it was pretty good, although I'm not feeling the love for it as much as I have done with previous Pixar stuff.

The first half was fantastic. Really great. It went downhill when they brought the humans in I thought. I just wasn't feeling it. Everything from their designs to the characterisation (or lack thereof) was a bit dull I thought. And I do agree somewhat that Disney releasing a movie about the dangers of over-consumption is somewhat hypocritical. I guess it's no more than hundreds of other companies have done with kids TV in the past, but the inevitable marketing blitz, Happy Meal toys etc that will acompany this just take an element of integrity out of the film's message.

Wll perhaps the Happy Meal thing was a bad example (which admittedly I didn't actually research). The rest still stands.

I didn't like a lot of the character designs. The humans all looked a bit uninspiring and most of the robots beyond Wall-E, Eve and Mo are pretty forgettable. Compared with past Pixar stuff, where all the supporting cast are very memorable (like Toy Story or Nemo for instance) this is a bit of a letdown.

I did. Absolutely loved it.

Yeah. Everyone else at the screening I went to left. It was just me and my wife left. So worth it though. Pixar credit sequences are always worth sticking around for.

After all the live-action footage, and the general photorealistic nature of the visuals, I thought the humans looked a bit too cartoony and didn't fit into the look of the movie very well.

A good film though, and seemed quite different to the sort of stuff Hollywood animated features have been pigeonholed into.

I thought it was wonderful, but it really did feel like two different films. The start, as everyone says is fantastic, the way the camera moves and focuses on the action as if it's a by stander just watching from a distance. The lighting and feel of it all. Then you have the space ship stuff where the lighting and colours totally change. It feels a lot more squigy and soft compared to the hardness of the first section. The character models are rather generic, fat guy 1, fat woman 1. That's all it seemed to be but didn't detract from the film for me.

The Johnny 5 references were lovely too. Can't wait for the DVD to come out.

Wonderful.

I'm a big fan of the Toy Stories, and there's a lot that I like in the next tier of Pixar movies (Monsters Inc and The Incredibles), but many of their others, however admirable, have left me cold: I don't have a lot of time for Cars or Ratatouille. Only time will tell if this belongs the first rank, but I thought this was their best work in ages.

The beginning is excellent, and we all were rapt (we took our daughters, 5 and 2). The story lost its way a bit for them in the second half, and my eldest daughter wept a great deal, but I thought it was terrific. Lots of ideas, very affecting, and possibly the first environmental message in anything that's ever hit home for me.

I quite fancy a nice 700 year cruise and a hoverchair, and we went straight out for pizza.

Partly, but when you have the fat white guy's skin colour changed to become fat black guy it ruins it a bit. There wasn't any cultural diversity, everyone looked identical and had a skin colour of white or black. It also seemed like it was just Americans on the spaceship rather than the whole world.

I was nicely suprised to see that people were also good. I was expecting them to be not only lazy and fat, but also obnoxious and hating the robots for some reason.

Well I saw it with my Son this morning.. first visit to the flicks 'n all that. He sat through the first 20 mins with his jaw open and eyes unblinking.... I think the first words he said were "Daddy, big tv!"

He did well, he only started getting fidgity in the last 15 mins... he loves popcorn...

The film? Thought it was superb, probably in my top 3 Pixar films, wife was a bit so-so about it.

The opening short was funny as hell though.

Wasn't that the whole point though? They had lost their individuality, they all wore the same, all did the same, they basically did nothing. So when the two fell off their chairs they got to experience being alive and being individuals. RE the American thing, it was a big Spaceship from America.. what would you expect? Any cultural diversity would have been weaned out over the 700 years so they all speak the same as they would have no influx of "difference".. jesus.. can't believe I'm having to explain a Pixar film!

Watched it earlier. Immensely good stuff. My eyes kept welling up. WALL - E is a great little guy. The relationship between him and EVE is so touching.

I almost went into the Disney shop afterwards just to buy some movie mechandise. I didn't though as - 1. I don't buy mechandise 2. It's hardly saving the planet.

Oh and I want a pet cockroach for Christmas!

Amazing, just saw it.

I think its right up there as one of the great modern films of its kind.

Everything was brilliant, story, charachters and execution. Even the credits were wonderfull.

I think its also got a lot of great messages for kids today, shown in a way we can all relate to.

Can't gush enough.
