Well that was unexpected. I spoke to the guys at Game Canary Wharf yesterday and they said they werent taking any more pre orders but would have 20 for sale to customers so get there early. So I turn up at 8:45 this morning and there was a queue of about 40 people snaking around outside the shop!

No way I was standing in that as I do already have a pre order, its just Im not sure I can get there to collect it tonight before it closes.

The advertising though for this is through the roof.

Can someone briefly explain the advertising campaign on the whole for this? I live in the Netherlands, work all day, never watch TV and so I've not seen ONE piece of advertising so far other than internet and signs in a shop.

Indeed. The Metro, the free London paper, had one of those 4 page cover ads all over it this morning and loads of ads inside. If it doesn't sell out today I think it will over the weekend. What a contrast, in the week GTA is coming out Nintendo are releasing Wii Fit.

Just a massive newspaper blitz really and events being held around the country. Also got various celebs endorsing it Sarah Harding, Nell McAndrew, Gabby Logan and her hubby (forgot his first name) etc. who all have a perceived sporting pedigree.

Lots of magazines are covering it as well as part of their lifestyle features.

Basically I would be very surprised if most twenty to thirty somethings were sitting at their desk today unaware of what Wii Fit was.

So can anyone tell me whats playable from the start? How many of the 9 'balance' (the fun game ones) games are available from start and which ones?

Football heading game where you have to head footballs away while avoiding shoes and panda heads.

A sort of monkey ball game where you have to get balls in holes to get time bonuses and its how many you can manage before you time runs out.

Skiing going through flags by leaning left and right.

Skiing jump by benging down then jumping at the last second (adds distance of both jumps)

I'm sure theres a couple more I cant remember, I unlocked the tightrope one yesterday which is hard.

EDIT:

Some of the aerobic games are quite fun too, the hula hoop and the step aerobics oh and the jogging.

I got mine from my local Tesco on the way to work this morning for sixty five quid. They had loads in, adverts for it all over the place, and immediately after buying mine there was another bloke getting one.

Now I've got to do a whole day's work before going home and finding out exactly how fat and unhealthy I am (approximate answer: very).

the metro is UK wide btw, just has regional versions - so it's even bigger!

Not jumping ON the balance board though? jumping off it? Do you get same results by just stepping off?

You don't "jump" at all. You bend your knees on the approach, then stand bolt upright at the jump part. There's even a warning telling you not to actually jump on the board!

Their wallets will be lighter for a start. That's a good first step.

As for the exercise, it'll play out exactly like this:

It's true though, you always feel really hungry after a decent workout.

Bought mine this morning in Asda for £65-odd. I was sure I'd heard someone say £80 so it was quite a nice surprise.

First impressions are that it's fun while giving quite a comprehensive workout. I'm not so fond of the silly minigames, especially the football-heading one, but the yoga, aerobics and muscle-training ones are good.

Am i missing something here. Why would i want to weigh my pets?

If you're giving them medication of some kind the required dosage differs according to weight. And it's also nice to know if you're feeding them too much or not enough etc. A small feature but much appreciated as the cat's not been looking too well recently and we suspect other cats are forcing the catflap open and eating his food.

Life story.

Anyway, just got two copies of this from the local Gamestation without a pre-order - they seemed to have a fair few copies going spare.

There's no jumping on the board at all (in fact theres a warning to that effect) you bend your legs like you would. Then at the jump you staighten as quick as possible while keeping as good a balance as you possibly can.

Wii Fit has taught me quite a lot in the few days ive had it.

My balance is off center slightly to the left and when I walk I tend to lean backwards and dont use my toes for support as much as I should.

Oh and that I'm fat too  but I'm working on that
