Any tips for the c class cappuccino overtaking race McSpeed? It's been by far the most tedious race in the game. I have read all sorts of tips, usually revolving around getting shoved up the straights by faster cars, to riding corners against the barriers. Which for the Real Driving Simulator, doesn't seem very real.

I am also struggling to do better than third in the F430 overtaking race. It seems as though you are coming first every time to keep getting the top payout? Any help much appreciated! Chers

Best tip is to do manual and turn left into the pit lane right at the start, slam the gears down into 2nd and smash into the pit corner. You should then come out of the pits in about 9th or ahead of the GT40. Overtake as many cars as possible untill you get to the left right section before 2nd banked corner, when you hit these corners just drive straight across both bits of grass in a diagnol method.

If done right, you should hit the second banked corner in 1st place. I know its not sim but this game is far from sim and using these methods im manaaged to get the F1 car in no time.

Phew, just completed the A Class, I get where McSpeed is coming from with the GTR, I find the Ferrari 430 more rewarding to drive for some reason :)

not been online yet though (as I suspect that I will get my ass seriously kicked!), still trying to suss out the now unlocked QTS...

I'd say this has been worth £18 easy!

You're better than me I'm getting third on that race, but getting nothing like close to the second place car.

I want to do it right, with just a little grass cutting through that final chicane section. I stuff up the first 2 corners so many times - I don't handle frustration too well!

I wouldn't worry about getting your arse kicked. The races are a complete lottery. There's so much carnage on the track that skill is completely unnecessary!

I am still really enjoying this, but one thing is getting on my nerves. Why did they make the dust cloud from when you ride the grass look so shit? Its got some weird pixelating thing going on near ground level. It just totally stands out in an otherwise amazing looking game.

I noticed this as well, only when I play online though. Have you noticed it on SP?

Some sort of online update coming. There's a notice up saying that the online service will be down overnight.

There's also one saying they've had all sorts of network issues and they need to take the servers down to fix them. No update for us. -_-

Finally unlocked the S Class - after a bit of grim grinding to be able to afford the F430, and getting really bored with the beginner online events - and suddenly online becomes a million times better. Longer races, better opponents, professional physics, more interesting tracks, faster cars all tuned up, etc. Ace ace ace.

The online part may get better (I'd have to check for myself though), but I've really had it with the grinding. I've got just three more races or so to go in S Class - I'm saving for an F40, but getting the rest of the car will take ages like this.

I have to return the review code tomorrow, but I'm not exactly planning on buying a retail myself - Mario Kart Wii is actually a lot more fun at the moment.

All ranking data wiped again? Fuck it, I reckon I could beat most of my previous times anyway.

I had a good session on this last night. I haven't had much of a chance to really get through the events, so I'm currently on the A class races. I've done everything I can do without having to buy specific cars, so I decided to do the American Muscle car races. What I should have done was compare all of the cars and buy the most powerful one. What I actually did was buy an 02 Viper because I could have it in yellow with black stripes down the middle. It's certainly a very different beast to the GT-R, although I'd say it was more fun to drive. The problem is, I'm getting horribly outpaced by the GT40 and the Corvette. I've managed 4th a couple of times in the first race but I'm going to have to seriously nail it for 5 laps just to get 3rd. I've got no hope of winning the whole thing. It's great fun though, so I'm persevering with it for now. I'll probably get hacked off with it and buy the GT40 but it feels like more of a challenge with the Viper and I've grown attached to it now. Holding it on the throttle around corners being careful not to get the backend creeping out and scrubbing off speed is a fucking art form, but it's immensely satisfying when you get it right.

I think I'm in love.

The updater warns that all save and replay data may be lost with this patch. Come on? Anyone else's saves been wiped? I haven't had a chance to check yet because I can't get the fucking thing downloaded due to the shite service!

Racing online is getting very annoying. Everyone just seems to try to crash into you to take you out each time you overtake..

1) As if. It's the real driving simulator.

2) Damage, not needed!

Yeah, it'll make it even more fun if your car gets fucked up when some moron slams into you...

Note how 2 is linked to 1. Between the lines!

Can I just make sure that I have my online etiquette right? I only just started online today and I want to make sure that I'm playing fair.

I've noticed how many players try to run you off the road at corners and when you try to overtake, as has been mentioned. This is pure shite and not the way I want to play. However, I'm not afraid to "muscle" these people back: not playing/cheating/griefing the same way that they do but nudging my way through them to get them out of the way so that I can enjoy a decent race. Is this wrong?

I know that there's an underlying amount of muscling on bends between the decent racers which is actually fun but I want to make sure that specifically employing it against the griefers is approved amongst my fellow forumites.

BTW, what's a half-decent American Muscle car? I'm keen to get A-Class finished off and I want to spend my creds widely.

I bought the Dodge Viper 06, which was a great car for the Americain series and for getting golds on the all comers series in A-Class.

As for online, some morons just get involved in endless pushing and shoving matches. It's far more noticable in the beginer events online, less of it on the pro races. It does ruin many races though and I think a lot of it is just poor skills with the game, as much as idiots. There are some who go out their way to crash in to folk trying to pass them, but there are also plenty that just don't brake and thus fly in to anyone trying to take a decent driving line and that slows down at any point. I don't think damage is the only option, they just need to introduce invite only games so that you can get some races against folk that want to race and not recreate destruction derby.

Ford GT40, I think. Not the '02 Dodge Viper in shiny yellow with black stripes.

Nonsense. It's all about the shiny yellow with black stripes.

I managed 3rd in all of the Muscle Car races with the Viper. Just make sure you've got traction control switched off.

Although when I took it online, almost every car I was racing against was a GT40. Sheep.
