According to the editorial of this week's prog, Harry Exton/Button Man is coming back in the near future. The digitally challenged assassin is one of my favourite characters of all time.

Also, if you're a fan of Clint Langley's work, ABC Warriors are back this week. Several weeks of sumptuous art here we come!

Sorry to jump on your thread but just got hold of a load of scream comics in cdisplay format and although they aren't as well written as I remeber they are still a bit of fun (and had a few of the 2000AD chaps contributing).

I have tried to source them for well over a decade and forum rules permitting and anyone who can accept 12+mb files via email I would be happy to send some out.

Button Man I can get on board with, I hadn't read his past stories but the most recent one was pretty good.

ABC Warriors is just....eh. There's no reason for me to read it anymore, feels like they've retrod the same ground over and over, though if they can keep doing stories like the most recent series which delved into each Warrior's past then all should be well - just no more 'oh look, we've got new robots/weapons to kill the ABC Warriors! Oh! They failed!'.

I loved Button Man because it was realised by the artistic genius that is Arthur Ranson. He did a load of comic strips for Look-In too when it was around and not a Smash Hits wannabe.

ABC Warriors back? Ohmy. I might have to get back into reading 2000AD again. It's been too long.

Thanks to the buddha of gaming, I've got a huge pile of ADs ranging from around prog 500 - 900ish (but not a complete set). I've enjoyed them all but now it's time to find them a new home. If anyone's willing to pick them up from Merseyside (and naturally is a fan/former fan of the scrotnig prog) then drop me a PM.

Strangely, I was given a 3ft tall stack of 200AD comics when I was about ten.

Enjoyed them a lot, and those ABC Warriors looked so cool back then.

What is it about mothers and 2000AD? Mine did the same and my best friend's mum did it to him when they moved house. Over 400 issues skipped.

Since this is a 2000AD thread, I've a question.

I never read it, but in my younger days while buying Sonic the Comic ( ) I stumbled across a few issues of other comics that have stayed memorable. One was the Death of Superman, but the other was a 2000AD one. It had the female Judge (I forget her name) taking on this big green blobby creature, and she recalls someone's advice to open her mind, Kuato style, but the creature literally opens her mind by stabbing her through the head.

What issue/storyline was that?

Was it in the Meg rather than AD? There have been a few female psi stories in the past that have met with a grizzly end. Anderson's still very much alive and in her fifties now.... damn you, real time 2000AD!

Nah, I reckon I know what they'll do, given the importance of the comic's biggest and most important character: They'll grow a Dredd clone and transplant Joe's brain into the clone's body. Rejuve can only do so much and given his age, bionic eyes, paper lungs, umpteen explosion/bullet/laser/stab wounds etc, Joe needs a whole new body.

The first Button Man was amazing....Amazing! The second was a snooze though, when it moved to America.

Arthur Ransome's artwork was and still is stunning. His work on the Anderson stories, Shambala and Satan, is mind-blowing.

I'm devouring up the Judge Dredd Case Files quicker than a Fattie eats a tonne of food.

Yeah, Arthur Ranson is amazing. The only thing he drew that I never really got into was Mazeworld.

I've given this some more thought!

Dredd'll receive a body transplant in about 5-7 years, with the old body being put in suspended animation (possibly in the Hall of Heroes?). However, after another 5 years he either:

1. Gets badly injured

or

2. Far more likely, his new body starts to break down.

Either way, Dredd's brain is reimplanted in his original body. The first pic of him we see putting on his helmet on the old body, a medic asks 'how does it feel, Dredd?' Dredd replies 'Like putting on an old pair of knee pads!'.

They'd cloned 7 Dredds a few years back. There's already one Dredd clone working as a judge (called him Rico for some reason), another one (Dolman) left the Academy as a cadet because he just didn't want to be a judge.

Didn't they make a clone of Dredd who went bad, about 15 years ago? My memory of it is sketchy, it was one of the last stories before I stopped reading 2000AD. I think he was in league with the Sisters of Death or whatever they were called.

Aye, it was Kraken. He was Judda originally, and even though he replaced Dredd when Joe did the Long Walk, the Sisters of Death got into his mind and they made him a semi-Dark Judge. Joe returned and killed him.

Kraken, that's the fella. I'd forgotten about the Judda. The thing I remember most about those stories was the cracking Ezquerra artwork. I can still picture some of the pages in my mind.

Edit: grud on a greenie, all this talk of Kraken and Judda has sent me off to Wikipedia and the memories have come flooding back. I can feel a spending spree approaching...
