Magtheridon. I'm on the west coast of the states tho, so timing a bit of a prob trying to sync with the UK.

All my efforts have been on lvling this character: my first on warcraft. Now that my xp bar has gone, I don't really know what do do.

Picked up the first two kara quests yesterday, but they don't give xp so I'm sorta confused. What do I do now?

Lost.

well, when I first made 60 it was all about trying to find a good guild and raiding...

After getting my full tier 1, then 1.5 (I cant believe I spent the time on my 1.5, even still!!) I was half way through tier 2 when TBC was released, this made all my previous effort pretty much useless considering greens 60+ were better than my purples!

Anywa,y find a guild, start raiding!

I know, I was being facetious

Just feels very strange to have spent so long with one goal in mind. Now that I'm here I feel somewhat lost.

Aye, it's odd having to go from what is mostly a lone experience, to being completely reliant on other people to be able to play the game. Just find some good ones, try out some PvP and a few instances, see which you like best (although, as a priest, you'll be expected to heal pretty much all the time).

What's your situation guildwise?

guilded or unguilded?

Hoogemassive guild or one or two people that are never on?

Raidy or totally casual?

Close knit group of friends or nothing more than a tag over your head?

Being in the right guild for your situation is make or break for this game and judging from your "what now?" query my guess is your guild isnt really suited to endgamey stuff or else you wouldn't need to ask. As Mankey said give the endgame pvp and small group pve a try and see if you get the bug like you did for levelling. If so: if you are decent, thoughtful player then the right guild opportunity will come along through pugs sooner or later. If not then go do something else for a few months and come back to level again at expansion time.

There are still goals you can set yourself, whether they be killing certain bosses in instances, getting certain pieces of equipment, doing certain quests, getting a flying mount, levelling up professions, getting good at pvp - there's still loads of stuff you can do, but instead of having it as an obvious goal, you have to go looking for it a bit more. And the likelyhood is that you will have to rely on other people. Stuff like Karazhan and beyond requires a reasonably dedicated group of people do, but is rewarding if you can find them. And while you cant upgrade your character by levels now, you still can through gear, of which there is tonnes for lvl 70 characters.

I guess the thing I'm struggling the most with is that now that I'm 70 I've lost that constant target, you know? Every time I lvled I'd be happy for a bit, get my new skills.... feel a certain sense of satisfaction, then immediately get to work on getting to the next level. Now it's all suddenly undefined, to my untrained eye. Feels very strange.

Are you going to stay Shadow, or switch to healing?

You're a tailor so you should be specialising around now and working on getting your primal mooncloth stuff or the frozen shadoweave stuff.

Both these sets will take a bit of effort to get but are well worth it.

In terms of the rest of your gear, once you've worked out you're holy/shadow take a look on wow-loot.com and start trying to get groups to the various instances to get some nice upgrades. You'll also pick up more rep and get access to better items that way too.

Personally, I want to be the best in my role as I can. Being DPS this means I'm a bit of a slave to the damage meters. When I first started using them I was a bit surprised how different the damage I was putting out was compared to others. I then set about fixing that by doing some reading about how to maximise my dps, upgrading my gear through tailoring & instances and anything else I could do to increase my damage (without pulling aggro of course).

Everytime I get something new and take a step up in the meters its not long before someone else gets a shiny now bit of gear and I have to fight hard to keep in touch with them (Hunters in Kara are my nemisis at the moment).

Nice. Thanks for all that everyone!

Plan to stay shadow: was holy 30-50, and found it to be pretty stressful. Less pressure DPSing

So, I got my flyer today (made 750g in 24 hours selling the chanting mats I'd ben stockpiling), and completed last part of kara attunement. I've found some gear I want: http://www.thottbot.com/test/?set=664

But have no idea how to get it. It looks pretty good given what I'm used to, but I don't understand what I need to do to get it. Can somebody point me in the right direction please?

Yeah, you want to be looking at blue stuff really. Check out the drops from Steamvaults, Shadow Labyrinths, and the Tempest Keep instances. There should be some stuff for you there. There are also some nice epic pvp rewards (boots, belt, bracers), which you can buy with honour points, and are quite good to casually work towards. Also maybe look at some of the reputation rewards, as they are not drop specific, and they are something good to aim for, as you can generally work out how many runs to an instance it's going to take you to get them.

That's tier 4 armour. You need to turn in drops from various raid bosses for it (Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair).

What are these tokens I've heard people talk about? do bosses drop those instead of actual items, then you turn in the token for an item?

Started Kara yesterday. Fun, but a big step up in difficulty it seems. Few pieces dropped yesterday, but all just regular blues.

I feel like I've gotten all the stuff I want from the regular instances. I could maybe scrape a few + dmg points or stats, but nothing too dramatic.

That priest set on the other hand, would be a big step up. Am I being overambitious?

Don't really understand either the tiered thing, or how these tokens/raids work. Could somebody either explain (bearing in mind I'm a n00b), or point me in the direction of a good resource please?

Cheers :)

The loot-list is always a good place to start when looking to see what gear to get out of the 5 mans:

nice one, thanks.

Various Karazhan and 25 player raid zone bosses drop tokens that can be used to purchase Tier sets. Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon hold the first expansion tier (actually the fourth in the overall scheme of things), Serpentshrine and Tempest Keep bosses drop the next set of tokens (Tier 5) and Mount Hyjal & the Black Temple is where Tier 6 tokens can be found.

In all honesty, unless you're very attached to both your current professions you're better off levelling tailoring and making yourself a Frozen Shadoweave Set than getting the corresponding pieces from the priest Tier 4 damage set, it's arguably better than Tier 5 even (in fact the boots are currently the best available in the game). Alternatively, other good tailored items (that don't require you to be a tailor yourself) are the Spellstrike helm-leggings combo and the Girdle of Ruination.

If you're doing Karazhan, then can get the hands and head pieces of the Tier 4 set. You get tokens because you can choose from different sets for different builds, so there will be a healing set and a pew set for priests for example. There's some nice loot in Kara for a shadow priest, look for either the staff off the Curator or the dagger off the Prince. Aran drops some nice shoulders, and there are some nice legs from the opera event, nice hat from Netherspite. That's about all I can remember off the top of my head

Yes, between Karazhan, Shadoweave Tailoring and the Heroics, you should be able to amass a nicely competitive set of gear. Combine the Nathrezim Mindblade from the final boss of Karazhan with a Orb of the Soul-Eater, which is purchasable via Badges of Justice dropped from bosses in Heroic instances and you've got around 250 shadow damage from your weapons alone.
