W00t NFL time again, those off seasons seem painfully long sometimes. I shall be rooting for my beloved Chargers as ever, but I think last year was our big chance. With all the coaching changes (Norv fucking Turner, sigh) I don't rate our chances too highly this year, but I'm hoping to be proven wrong.

The Pats are going to absolutely kill it this year. I can't wait to see them play, Adalius Thomas is such a perfect fit for that defence.

I've not got tickets for wembly yet but I did just get an email the other day with a code for the next batch so I might go for it.

Ditto.

However, I've also applied for a press box pass, so I might get twice as lucky.

Wanted to get tickets for the Wembley game, but wasn't aware of it until far too late. Gutted.

If I get a spare, it's yours.

I'm a Bears fan (23 long years) and that game on Sunday night at San Diego is going to be a BEAST. The teams won 27 regular season games combined last season out of a possible 32. Neither likes to lose or is used to it. God I hope you're weeping come midnight. Although I'd be happy to see your boys win the AFC.

It should be a good one, bit of a classic offence vs defence too. Its a good game for both teams to get out of the way in week 1 though, a win would be a big confidence boost and a loss can be overlooked somewhat firstly because its a non-conference game and secondly because theres 15 games left.

Yup,

I love winter sundays curled up on the sofa watching NFL for 6 (now to be 9) hours.

I have tickets for the game at wembley - and cant wait - but there is a chance i could be in the states with work that week.. typical the nfl comes over here and i may be over there.

If that does happen - you guys will get first refusal on tickets.

Go Pats

Don't expect all that much out of the colts, despite thursday's result. They won the Superbowl despite manning, not because of him. Losing Tarik Glenn was a big blow: let's see how manning does without all that time to throw.

Pats look fucking scary this year: can't wait to take 'em on at theirs. I fear that LT may have a letdown season: gonna be pretty tough to better what he did last year, though if we win the superbowl I'm not sure he'll care. I'll be heading to qualcomm early tomorrow to get the beers and sunburn in. Woot.

I think you're being harsh on the Colts. When their D is firing they're as good as anyone in the NFL. But you'd have to assume they'd need to beat the Pats at some point in January. And if it's at the RCA I'd give Indy the edge.

Forgot you were a Bolts man. Helluva game tonight. Hope you have a great day but see your team lose

Yeah, if the Bears lose a road game in SD it's forgivable. I think the Chargers are under more pressure and have more to lose with a defeat just because it's at home. But you're spot on, in terms of importance this ranks lower on the scale than a divisional game or a conference game when it comes to making the play-offs. That's not to take anything away from tonight's excellent looking match-up.

Anyone watch NFL Playbook on Sky last night? I'm going to stick it on at 6pm as I Sky+ Jets v Pats. Then I'll play catch up in that game so I can skip the ads. I'll probably catch up by the final quarter.

Anyone reckon Mangenius and Chad can beat the Patriots?

Damn that was a good opening performance. Turner could be the key to our success this year: having that caliber of backup for LT is huge. Next week at NE is gonna be huge...

Lots of positives for the chargers to take from that game: some breaks of course, but was a very disciplined game from them. Love that LT threw for a TD in the first game!

re the colts, yeah agree about the defense, i just hate manning. He endorses absolutely everything over here, it's ridiculous. They make him out to be in the same league as the likes of Marino, which is just a joke. He's a good QB, but there's a bunch of guys in the league who'd be just as good in the same position. Will be interesting to see how he gets on without his left-tackle: my guess is he'll choke. We'll know week 9, when they face NE.

I still think you're being harsh on Manning, but I'll admit he wouldn't have won a Super Bowl is he'd been stuck in Miami like Marino was. Manning had a running game and a D last season. Marino never had that.

I wonder what odds I can get on the Bears winning the whole shebang this year? I nearly had a punt last year but couldn't remember my gambling password for the online bookies!

The odds will have got a bit longer after last night. Worst performance I've seen from the team in a while. And I watch them a lot.
