Two great games on the cards tomorrow. Pats continue their bid for perfection against the banged up Chargers and old man favre goes up against Eli's Giants.

Giants Chargers would be a great superbowl: the two QBs who were traded for one another a couple of years ago going head to head in the big one would be a great story. Unlikely to be, sadly. Hope the Chargers can pull of the shock result. Would be one of the biggest upsets in playoff history if they did it. Brady isn't used to getting pressured, if Merriman and Phillips can get to him early we should see some fireworks.

Picks: Packers & (gulp) Chargers.

Favre (Farve?) has been amazing this year, his little stumble to shovel pass against the Seahawks was amazing reminded me of Jeff Garcia running in that TD against the Giants a few years ago

Chargers did well with Rivers and LT leaving the game and Gates playing hurt last week if they're back tonight showuld be a brilliant game

I kinda lost interest when Dallas got knocked out last weekend I'd actually rather just see the Pats win it now just so i can use "it was their year" excuse to try and feel better about the Cowboys going out :s

really hope your picks come good there.

Bah. Wrong on both counts.

Gutted for the Chargers, they put up a really good fight given the situation, but at the end of the day you gotta score touchdowns to win. Four FGs doesn't cut it. Very disappointing... they had it in their grasp. That 4th Q call from Turner was a little cowardly, but I guess he got them there and had faith in the Defense.

I hate when kickers miss game wining FGs they do fuck all all game then are expected to make a huge play, but respect to the Giants kicker (Lynes?) for stepping up and booting it through the pipes. Pats to gub them in the 'bowl.

The chargers were unlucky. When we lost LT and Rivers I just couldn't see us making the big plays, although i like the fact that they hung in there regardless.

The giants are a shocker. How did they get this far? They haven't been exceptional in any game yet they are in the superbowl.

Great news that NFL returns to UK in 2008.

I hope that it goes to Millennium Stadium this time.

The rumours suggest it might be the Seahawks as well. I'm almost moist with anticipation. If it turns out to be a two-bit game though (Cards, Ravens, Jets etc.), I won't be impressed. I'll still be there, but I won't be impressed.

And Giants for a Superbowl upset. It'd be the Rocky IV story, gridiron-style.

Tynes. He's from Greenock. I was in the locker room at Wembley when someone from the Daily Record presented him with a personalised Celtic shirt.

How is that a two-bit game?? Granted if it's a Leinhart led Cards... But if it's a Warner led Cards after Matt chokes, then that'll be spectacular. There might actually be some touchdowns!

I think it will be two east-coast teams again. Less travel, time difference, and hassle. And more potential for developing a European fan base in the eyes of NFL owners. I am hopeful it will be the Bucs but I suspect it'll be somthing like Washington (as someone we'll 'remember seeing' in the American Bowl days) and Jacksonville (if it's a cross-confercen fixture) or Atlanta (I hope not, for obvious reasons - they suck-diddly-uck).

As I've said the short list has been finalised. There are no all-east games on the table. Washington, Jacksonville and Atlanta are all out of the running, too.

Okay, I bow to your superior knowledge.

As an aside, does anyone know where I can download/get some XLF games. I missed the (ahem) 'experience' first time round and so fancied grabbing a few and rocking down memory lane.

They've got an awesome pass rush and semingly inexhaustible supply of decent runners (even Ryan Grant was on their roster at the year's start!). Footballoutsiders reckon that their passing game suddenly became competent about 5 games ago and that's what's made the difference (and their stats are persuasive).

Yea, and there's the sub-plot of the chargers ditching Brees for Rivers, with Brees ending up at New Orleans. Brees, Reggie Bush, LT, Rivers, Gates... NFL showing pretty serious commitment to growing the game outside of the US by putting this game on in London. Chargers will be contenders again next year too: nobody of note is leaving.

5-1 for the Giants to win the superbowl. I'm almost tempted to stick a few quid on seeing as they came so close to beating the Pats in the regular season.

As usual I'll be heading to the Sports Bar in Birmingham for the game itself for their big Superbowl party. Should be great.
